CAGiversary!
http://ds.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=3479

I didn't see it posted anywhere in the DS section and i really don't care to search so here it is.

I hope this is true. From all of the footage i have seen of it, the game looks to be one of the most innovative and awesome games to come out in a while. Plus I love Will Wright and his eccentric genius that he puts to games.
I would like to be excited, but am I the only one who can never get to advancedmn.com?
Doesn't work for me either. I used to check that site all the time, but it's so wonky that I finally gave up on it.

Hopefully it comes to the Revolution as well.

Spore Coming To DS, PSP, Phones
March 23, 2006
by: Ray Almeda
EXCLUSIVE REPORT: Will Wright confirms to AMN that the previously PC-only game is in development for all major brands of gaming handhelds.
Ever since winning the Game of Show Award at E3, Maxis' Spore is easily one of the most anticipated PC titles.

Although the title isn't expected to arrive until 2007, reports were rampant of Electronic Arts' job openings towards developing a handheld version of the simulation game. The latter was confirmed of Spore
releasing on handheld via a GDC conference session on Wednesday. Created by Will Wright, one of the PC game's most intriguing features include discovering other evolutionized worlds and galaxies.

On Wednesday night, AMN's very own Ray Almeda sat down with the legendary game designer to discuss the details on Spore for handhelds. When asked whether or not Spore
would be coming to the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP, Wright replied with a "Yes... definitely."

According to Wright, Spore is intended to release for multiple handheld systems, including the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, and several mobile-phone devices. Which phones might be compatible with the game have yet to be determined, but Wright emphasized that "the mobile [cell-phone] version would be the most intriguing and focused upon."

The news confirms Spore's expansion into numberous handheld libraries, with the possibility of online interaction certainly valid. A confirmation for handhelds almost certainly stimulates a chance that Spore
might make it onto a gaming console someday, with reports suggesting that Will Wright himself has expressed interest in the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Revolution.

Like the PC title itself, the handheld projects are not expected to arrive until 2007.

What the fuck is the obsession with cell phone gaming? I could never see myself playing Spore on a cell phone.

QFT. If the game can be done on cell phones AND it is the most focused upon, how good could the game honestly be?

/never was much for Simcity, hates the Sims, thinks Wil Wright is good but overrated....

I was all happy...but what in the muthafuckin hell warrants the coddling of the cell phone version?

well, it's not so much the quality of the game as it is the simplicity of the gameplay that makes it doable. it's not like the cell version will capture the full scope of the PC version.

this game could kick some serious ass on the DS if the proper amount of attention and time is spent on the ummmm procedural ummm gameplay ummm on the ummmm procedural Nintendo um DS.

i'm with ya on the dislike of the sims (hard enough balancing one life, eh?) but Spore looks like my kinda game.

hmm you gave me a weird idea... is there such a thing as an inverted orgasm?... I guess that's what is called "Pain" or something of that nature... at least in Spore you can creat real inverted orgasms.

I am curiouse how well these will turn out. I fear it's going to turn out like the "Urbz" since I don't think Will will (gahh, no pun intended) not be working on these versions.

Of course there are inverted orgasms. Just ask all those Japanese men that pay girls to punch them in the balls repeatedly.

I'd say that would be frontrunner.

>_< don't remind me of that thread... that was very painful to watch

Spore on DS with the touch pad would be awesome. I can only imagine how the game would play, and as the game supposedly will be online for the PC and console version, maybe they'll integrate wifi onto the DS. It could be like a mini Animal Crossing going to different people's evolved world and stuff. But yaeh, what is this bullshit that Wil Wright is doing by focusing on Cell phones. Oh and the link worked fine for me.

What's to hate about a virtual torture sim?

I've been a Maxis diehard for as long as I can remember, and I've been with them even after they sold out to Electronic Arts. I think that they oversold The Sims with WAY too many expansion packs, but they still make quality games. I've been looking forward to Spore since it was announced, and while I most likely will be picking it up for PC and not the DS, this is still phenomenal news! The DS is really starting to win me over: New Super Mario Bros., Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and now Spore... combined with all of the great games out already, how can I not purchase it? And the Lite redesign, . It's a great time to be a gamer!

What I saw of that conference clip of Wright showing off Spore (I think last year), was super cool looking. Since all the beings in your universe are downloaded from other people's universes, the idea that some little fish swimming around your pond came from some guy sitting in a cafe is pretty cool.

GPS gaming + amount of game capable cell phones + extreme scaleability of Spore = $$$

I understand why he would put emphasis on cell phones
