I'm about to buy a $183 Rug Shampooer (Hoover) on Amazon but the average reviewer says it breaks within 2-3 years. I can buy a Squaretrade 3 year warranty for $25.

Aside from 360 claims (RRoD), how has Squaretrade handled your standard device claims on everyday things that wear down or break over time?

If I need to get something small repaired through them, is the warranty done or will they continue to fix things that break on it until the 3 years are up? (or until they refund the purchase price of the item)

I realize that they had issues a few years ago, but have since then disassociated themselves with the problem company that used to handle their repair requests. Any claim stories before 2008 don't count at this point.

Wow, it's been overwhelming trying to read all of your stories, thanks :oldman: I ordered my Shampooer +Squaretrade, I'll update the thread in 3 years when I actually file a claim...
Slightly late, but I haven't heard anything bad about Squaretrade warranties. We got the extended warranty for my Nook through them because they were highly recommended on all of the Nook forums. Also, here's a site with the information you're looking for. http://www.resellerratings.com/store/SquareTrade
I have never actually seen written reviews for SquareTrade and really didn't know how good their service is. Everyone always recommends them though.

I actually always go with a warranty on any purchase over $150.

When I used to buy consoles from Best Buy I would always get their Product Replacement Plan, since it was nice to be able to go in at 1 year 11 months and 364 days and say 'I'm having an issue with this item' and just be able to go in and get another of the same item with little to no hassle.

It was worth the $50 or so it was for a console around launch last gen to do so right at the end of the warranty, especially when said console was already discontinued(original Xbox) and thus they had to refund you your original purchase price(on a gift card though).

Since Best Buy did away with the replacement plans and the plans are now service plans and require three attempts to repair your item before they issue a gift card or swap out, they can go fuck themselves now.
