The website says it is $49.99 and B&M in-store box says $49.99, but when you are at the register it will ring up $19.99

I tired to pricematch 110% at CC to Best Buy's and found out no extra 10% because it's the same price.

Ok here's the deal. TRU is lowering the price tomorrow to $19.99 as well. Question. Are there two versions of this game already or what?

Both games are the same, except that the Limited Edition one comes with a holofoil cover.
 
Can I get a pic of it as well as the side and zip so I know I'm getting the right one? Both come with the soundtrack btw right?

Nither of the two have a soundtrack. The only difference between the limited edition and the regular one is a holofoil cover.
 
Thanks for the info OP. If I can't get this at my TRU or GC this weekend then at least I'll have a back up plan. I already know that none of the Target's in my area have it and none of the BB's in my area have it except for the ones way out in the not so great area of town.
 
wow... I was just there yesterday and saw plenty... the good thing about CC as oppoed to my Best Buy in regards to this game was CC put the games in a large security box that didnt damage the cover, when my BB's had it in stock (been out for a long time now) it had one of those spider like security devices on it that damaged the cover...

This will be my backup plan ... I plan on getting it from TRU along with some guides, but if I am rebuffed on the guides, I will take my business to CC

You're right. I had nearly forgotten that my BB had put that spider like security thing on it. It started to make the box bend out because I think they put it on too tightly and it eventually crushed the box.
 
After Star Ocean magically disappeared in both Target and Bestbuy (Target could be sold out, but I am sure Bestbuy employee hide them because I saw tons of the few days before), I guess this is my last chance.

Don't forget about TRU. TRU has marked it down to 19.99 today. Also EBgames had it on there website for the same price but went OOS shortly after. I know overstock still has it for 19.99 on the site but their shipping is too high IMO. For a contingency plan, I would probably have to say Gamecrazy. They don't really seem to sell to many new games IMO, but with the recent 3 for $15 sale, they have been getting more foot traffic as well as with the recent price drops on ToS and BK.
 
Thanks OP, I just picked up the second to last copy from my CC. Thankfully the box isn't too banged up. I left one copy for a fellow CAG. I'll also check out TRU to see if they have it also. I think they are having a two $20 games for $30 sale so I want to check it out.
 
Okay, I am pissed.
I checked 2 Circuit City, 2 Bestbuy, 3 Targets, 2 Gamestop, 1 TRU in the Seattle area, all of them are out of Star Ocean. I remember I have seen a lot of them not to long ago (like last week). Did some idiot buy all of them after the price drop?

I notice that too, both Target and Best Buy were completely out of them when the price dropped occured. And when I went to Circuit City it looked like they were out too but I ask the guy and they had the last two copies in the back room for some reason. I think maybe an employee at the store put them back there to buy because the sales associate was baffled that he couldn't find it on the floor and didn't know why they were in the back. Also, right of the bat he told me the price was $19.99 even though the sticker said $49.99.

Sweet! Thanks for the heads-up. I just scored a copy. They still had 4 on the shelf. The great thing about CC is that they have the games protected in the big plastic cases so they are indeed minty fresh.
 
Picked mine up at TRU B&M with their buy 2 $19.99 PS2 games for $30. So I got this and the Inuyahsa game for $30. They had plenty left since these were still mispriced at the original MSRP.
 
Whoa OP, do you know what's the date the $14.99 price for Fry's is good for? I just bought a copy there last week for $19.99. Looks like it's time for a trip back to price match themselves!
 
Found it for $20 at Fred Meyer today and decided to pick it up....not that I will play it for months heh...
 
Damn...one Best Buy out of THREE STATES seems to have this in stock, and it's of course the one farthest away from me. >____<
Guess I just wasn't meant to score this one for $15.

I think it's the Houston store that just opened. Check the Fry's Ads thread, Star Ocean III was only $14.99 at the Houston store and $19.99 in all other stores.
 
I bought one today at CC in Deer Park/Kill Deer Il. It's the foil-cover box version, mint condition (none of them are banged up). At the time of this writing, there's about 4-5 left in a white bin in the aisle near the games.

Instead of wasting ~$10 on gasoline (and several hours of time) driving here-there-and-everywhere...

...why not just buy online?
