Star Trek (Original) $41.57 ea @ Amazon.com

Relatively speaking, it's a good deal. But that's still too much for the season sets.

Paramount really marks up their star trek season sets.

If you're a purist you'll want these sets, as they recently updated this for HD syndication with reworked special effects.

The price might go up if they decide that they will only make the new updated CGI ones in the future.

agreed

cool show and great memories of it... but it's on TV so much now that I feel zero urge to pick these up

still an decent deal, in relation to recent prices

kind of like how $2.00 a gallon of gas will seem like a deal if that ever happens again

lol
:)

I told people to stock up on gas when it was 1.86 a gallon because it will never be that low again, no one listened to me.

I remember about 10 years ago when gas cost less than $1 a gallon. At one point it was like 76 cents a gallon. Those were the days. :)

Anyways back to Star Trek. What you watch on TV isn't the real Star Trek. The show on TV now is about 42-44 minutes long when it first showed it was 50-52 minutes long. So buying the DVDs you get 10 extra minutes that they cut for TV.

but i do agree that the DVD sets > watching it on TV. :)

i'm just not a huge enough fan to pay more than about $30 for these sets

too many bad memories of my older sister threatening me with bodily violence if i changed the channel when ST was on. lol.

oh and i should have joined a gas co-op a long time ago. :(

those people are saving so much $!!!!

These prices are pretty much right in line with most other hour long TV shows, although I do agree that they are a little to expensive for a show that's now 40 years old. It might be awhile before we see better deals on TOS, but I'm sure we'll see some store have them for $30 or less before the end of the year, just like how Frys (?) had TNG sets for $30. Give it some time. They just had a universal price drop.

The ships will also be replaced with digitaized versions, IIRC. At least on the beginning of the show. They will also be cut on time, so if you want to watch the whole thing you need the old set, watch 2.0 uncut mentioned previously, or wait until the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray revised HD versions to come out.

41.57 for a 26 episode season is a dynamite price and what they should've been to begin with, not sure what you think they should be selling for.

Even though I love this show, I still won't pay for any season box set over $30. I guess I am spoil from seeing so many sets drop in price. But of course this as a unique box cover, so that could be another reason why it hasn't drop so fast.
