I just got the latest OXM magazine and it has a demo of one of the levels of SW:RC, I was expecting a R6 clone since thats what I heard it was going to be like, OMG was I wrong....This game is sort of like a mix of Halo and R6 the controls are like Halo but you have a squad that backs you up and you can designate what you want them to do, and where they stand in battle, this demo blew me away, and the thought of playing this on XBL :shock: I cannot wait for this to come out.
 
i played this game in the sony metreon in San Francisco a few weeks back, ands its pretty cool

yeah it mimics much of the halo-type gameplay and combines that with cool squad tactics

some of the weapons are pretty fun to use too
 
Shit yeah! this game looks tight. I played the demo in xbox exhibition vol. 7 and loved it. I have the game pre-paid for already. I don't like fps' so much and I've never played R6 or other games like that.

Everything just played very smooth and the game was beautiful to look at. Plus, if your a star wars fan, getting an advance look at Kashyyk is cool. I wonder if they'll have pre-order bonuses with this game??
 
I agree very tight control and graphics. I Played the demo multiple times to try out different formations. A nice short introduction to a great looking game.

March is going to be a fun month Republic Commando, Doom 3 and Timesplitters 3.
 
Glad previews are good.....I preordered it at GameRush :) I'll have to check otu the demo eventually.

Unclear on your question, but if you mean the demo that came with the OXM with Kotor 2 on the cover, the answer is no.

If you mean a demo on Kotor 2 the game, I don't have it so I don't know.

I didn't even realize there were demos on KOTOR2. I got so excited about KOTOR2 after playing the tutorial-like Prologue level that I went back and starting playing the original KOTOR again. I'll have to boot up KOTOR2 tonight just to check out the SWRC demo.
 
On page 93 of the February OXM it says:
The Republic Commando demo is also available on the Knights of the Old Republic 2 retail disc, but you probably didn't notice because of how amazing KOTOR II is.

I'm always skeptical with SW games, too. But this one is the real deal. I don't see how they can screw it up in just a few months.

The Republic Commando demo doesn't have Live play, but the FIFA Soccer 2005, MechAssault 2, and Iron Phoenix demos have Live multiplayer.

It has a solider with what looks like a sniper rifle on it. The cover story is about 10 upcoming military shooters.
 
When I got KOTOR 2 when it was released, I knew there was a RC demo from a message board and I had to try the demo before I even played the game. It was just a nice, smooth gameplay. Location-based damage is awesome too. And I'm sure all of the squad mates will have good personalities too, and not be just bland characters.
 
yea this looks awesome. its not too easy that its boring nor too challenging that its frustrating....its perfect difficulty.
 
This looks neat from the movies I've seen of it, but how's the AI? That's one thing that always seemed a little shifty in the movies. Do the bad guys seem fairly smart?

Also, anyone know if it's going to have co-op?
 
How is Iron Pheonix? I would be getting this issue but I probably won't be my first issue in my renewed sub till after this one.

I'm not too much into the Star Wars universe, but wouldn't the characters all be the same assuming these commandos are part of the clone army? I'm not sure how they'd make the characters all that much different.
 
Nice, I'll have to check out the demo. I saw the latest OXM on the newstand this Thursday, should have picked it up if I know the demo was good.
 
Sorry to bump this topic, but I just played and finished the demo. This game is looking AMAZING! I haven't felt so sucked into a game in a LONG time. I was really sad when the demo ended. Definitely going to have to pick this one up.

ive been playing the pc demo a lot lately, and indeed it is fucking sweet. im no star wars fanatic, but this game certainly seems to be a cut above your average fps and is highly enjoyable. download the demo for pc or find it for whatever console you use and give it a shot, it really doesnt disapoint.

played the RC demo from KOTOR 2. It was pretty rad, better than i thought it would be. Very nice graphics. For a non-Star Wars fan it probably looks like an average FPS, but i agree this game looks pretty cool. Star Wars fans have NEVER seen character-models look this sweet.

Just saw the game informer review (briefly tho). I think it got 8.25 and 8.75......so pretty consistent with other magazine reviews. I think this is gonna be a great game....and double great for a star wars junkie like myself.

i freaking feel like i waisted 7 bucks on renting this. I personally thought it was junk.
 
I've gotta say it was a mediocre demo at best. The graphics were great and the squad thing was average, but I didn't like the guns that much, and the demo at least seemed to be incredibly simplistic. Hopefully once it goes gold it'll prove me wrong, but as of now, I'll wait like I did with Clone Wars and get it when it hits single digits.
 
Single player was WAY too short and had a horrible ending, possibly worse than Halo 2. LIVE play is just an afterthought....kinda lame. Trading in today for my $35 credit at GameRush

I see that some people didn't like it, but I am LOVING this game. I like it better than Halo 2, but I'm only concerned with the single player game. If you like good action games and are into Star Wars, then you are a fool not to get this game. The controls are tight, the squad mechanics are spot on, the graphics are great (not phenominal, but great), music IS phenominal.....it's all there.

I, too, get motion sickness from FPS', so I only play an hour at a time. That's when I start to get a headache which is the first sign that I'm not doing too good. I heard that ginger is supposed to help, and that if you drink Verners ginger-ale, it would help you. I drank a lot when I was into Halo 2 and it seemed to help. I haven't had to do that with this game yet, tho.
