I saw it at FYE for 39.99 last night, don't know if that price was just until the end of the week or not. Also, I saw a sign at Gamespot still advertising the 'Trade in 3 DVDs, get SW for 29.99' deal.
hey, I'm looking for this too but not from deepdicountdvd.com. I ordered from them and it shipped the 26th but I never got it and they can't reorder cause it's back ordered
Are they ever going to release the original Star Wars movies on DVD?
The Trilogy set contains the special^3 editions.
Since George Lucas considers the special editions to be the "real" version of what he originally wanted to do and refuses to ever acknowledge that people might prefer the original?

I severely doubt that.
I dunno, considering he's a money whore he just might.
Those aren't even the special editions, he made even more changes (some of which I have to ask, why). I myself admit that I acquired the dvds of the original trilogy which were converted from the laser disc. Decent audio and video quality, but it's not going to blow you away, better than a VHS.

Been rumored all over The-Force.net that there will be an extended DVD release in 2007 for the 30th anniversary. Supposidely having the originals on it as well as the special editions.

Baring some financial problems on Lucas's part, I believe he is too pig-headed to include the original cuts. He genuinely hates those cuts (for some reason) and he just doesn't understand why people prefer them.
It's kind of like on the new director's cut dvd release of Daredevil. There is a featurette on their where they talk about how they decided to release this new cut. One of the producers interviewed (think it was Gary Foster) just cannot admit that the director's cut is the supeior cut, he cannot admit he was wrong to press for the theatrical cut.

That would be nice.
