Star Wars TV series in 2006?

CAGiversary!
We're continuing to hear about the direction for Lucasfilm and Star Wars post-Episode III. While there won't be more movies, we continue to hear the move is to TV. Sources are now telling us that there WILL be a TV series in 2006.

They don't know whether it'll be live-action, animated or both - Lucasfilm itself will decide on this later this year!
Hey Scrubking! Can you give a link?
He did.
He did...but he edited his AFTER that post and BEFORE yours. :D

With that said, I'm hoping that this series isn't screwed up. I've heard people suggest a live action Jedi Academy (or New Jedi Order) series, a la Young Indiana Jones. Those could be very cool, but we'll see what Lucasfilm comes up with...

Whatever it is, I'm hoping that it DOESN'T involve the movie characters if it's not animated. Trying to recast Luke, Han, and everyone else would just be stupid.

I think it's going to be a 'Jedi Comedy' show or something... or like 'Lidsville' but with Darth Vader plating the part of HooDoo... chasing Jar Jar around episode after episode...

I'm not that big into Star Wars, but that sucks that there isn't gonna be an Episode III movie. I was so looking forward for Anakin to turn bad and start killing Jedi. Damn.

There still IS going to be the movie....

Anyway, I think it should be like KOTOR and be based in the past with all new characters.

Um...who said that? Episode III comes out in 2005 and this possible TV series would come out in 2006. But Episode III is still coming - May 19th, 2005, a little over a year now.

That A$$hole already has em done and he wants us to sit around...I hate George Lucas...He just needs to release the movie with the release of the DVD sets of the originals

It's going to suck as much as the animated shorts and Episodes 1 & 2.

Lucas has become a "one trick pony", which is unfortunate for a guy who has done so much for cinema and filmmaking. He should retire Star Wars.

A TV series? Come on! If he can't make a good film out of it anymore (with such huge budgets) what makes him or anyone else think he can make a decent TV series out of it?

Start lowering your expectations, cause Lucas alright thinks you have.

P.S. Don't forget to buy the new box sets of Episodes 4-6 this fall (all 4 versions of the box set). Cause Uncle Lucas wants your money.

Dammit! I'm making myself mad. Must go watch "Empire" and be happy!!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Oops, when they said there isn't gonna be any more movies, I didn't realize they meant after Episode III.

What is "em?"

If it's EpIII, it's NOT done. The filming is done, but the special effects aren't even close to completion.

2 box sets of the EVIL BOX COVER (widescreen and pan/scan) and 2 box sets of the HERO BOX COVER (widescreen and pan/scan).

I don't recall the official names for the box set covers, so sorry for the lame descriptions.

And Lucas knows a lot of people are going to buy all four. Then, in a couple of years he will release box sets of Episodes 1-3. Then a year later will probably be a box set of 1-6.

You heard it here first!

Why base it in the past when we already know how the story ends in ROTJ ?

Mark Hammel isn't doing anything, let him come back as Luke- the aged master of the new jedi order.
Anything but an animated series.
Why do you say that? Did you have a problem with the Clone Wars shorts?

I'm just curious...I didn't think they were bad, but I know that everyone doesn't agree with me there.

They never should have killed Boba Fett, those stupid bastards!

They had a great opportunity for a spinoff series right there!

Here are a few points.

- If there is a tv series there is no way to know that lucas will direct it. He probably won't and hand it off to someone like the clone wars cartoon.

- The clone wars cartoon by cartoon network was great except for the 3 minute time limit. There is only so much you can do in 3 minutes eps.

- A boba fett series would suck imo. The whole series would be him chasing regular people cuase anyone with the force and a saber would take him out in 2 seconds.

- I think a cartoon is the best way to go for the series since you are not limited by special effects costs, etc. The last thing a star wars tv series needs is to end up sucking cause of a low budget.
filofilm...Wide Screen is silve/black with darth and standard is gold and silver with luke...
There will only be two versions. Pan & scan will be on gold with Luke and the gang on one side, and Vader on the other. Widescreen will be silver with the same boxart shown below, one box, two sides:
