Yes, There Is A Deal!
APRIL 15 - TOMAS3333
Last time I've asked you what do you consider to be a good deal. Before that, I've showed you that we have two twitter accounts, in case you weren't aware of that - second one being YesThereIsADeal.
If you've put a two and two together, you might have suspected I'm doing something with it.
So...
Yes, There Is A Deal!
What's it? That Twitter account has been active for quite some time now, in fact, for 3 years already. It is posting one deal each hour that my algorithm thinks is interesting enough to consider.
TL;DR: we now have a standalone web for that as well:
http://yesthereisadeal.com
Twitter account will still be active, but you can find more info on the website. Moreover it's not US only like Twitter is. It also brings a little bit of community aspect to it - you can voice your opinion whether you think the deal is good or bad, and help others to decide if they should go for it.
Why?
For few reasons:
Twitter account is only posting deals from US region. That's not quite fair.
I wanted to make some small and quick side project
It may (or may not) be interesting as a standalone website
I wanted to learn new things
On a personal note
Announcement is done, I'll ramble for a little bit more though, so feel free to check out the web now[yesthereisadeal.com]!
When I said small and quick side project... yeah, it wasn't that quick. I wanted to try some new things because I'm stuck in the past regarding development, so I've checkout out Sass and React mainly.
Sass is awesome, no need to talk about that, but React is a little bit different. I love the idea, and it was probably overkill for this, but I was so slow developing in it and it caused me so many problems it's unbelievable.
In fact, whole idea of modern front-end development feels weird. Compiling javascript? That's just perverse... I'm not sure if I'll be using it elsewhere but I'm glad I've tried it though. It may come in handy, now that I have some idea how it works.
I have also used media queries for a little bit of responsivness (which is something unheard of on ITAD). It works fine on PC, when I tried it on my phone and tablet I saw it could use a bit more work, but I've already spent too too much time on this, so next time.
Also, I honestly am not sure if anyone will be visiting YTIAD. I mean, we have ITAD and Waitlists, right? But we'll see. I think Zelgaris made a really good job with design, and I hope I butchered it only a little. And I like that you can vote for deals.
Algorithm may be further improved as well, if you have ideas don't hesitate to contact me.
And anyway, what do you think?
