This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

Remember, that's just my PC Steam-game count.

I've got so many PC games scattered across so many services (retail boxes w/ no ties to a service, Origin, BattleNet, UPlay, DRM-FREE stuff from Humble, DRM-FREE game from Groupees, GOG, Gamersgate, etc etc) - yeah, it ain't even funny.

If I dedicated myself to mostly Steam-game buying, I'd have way more.

I've got 405 DLC's on Steam, BTW.

You won't believe this but I have like 40 games on Origin and 48 games on GoG, 300 on Desura...

And while checking it I got +2 steam games from Desura again nice.

4 TB = total space for all of internals combined.

I have 3 WB Black Internals HDD's currently.

All of those are almost full. Probably going to buy another.

I'm pretty lazy + terrible at cutting installed-games off my internals.

I also have 2 external HDD's hooked up via USB.

2.5 TB = total space there for just all of the externals combined.

Put a lot of my full game back-ups, saves, patches & stuff on those.

AC 2 and AC: Brotherhood are usually considered the best of the traditional AC games. AC4: Black Flag is also a lot of fun and well regarded but it's a departure from the usual AC games since you spend more time sailing a ship and pirating than you do scampering over European architecture and shanking people.

Those are my favorite three AC games.

Keep in mind that I have not played AC Unity, AC Liberation HD, and AC Rogue - even though I do own all of those.

So I get the sense that Black Flag could be the AC for me. Am I right about the following?

1. That I'd get to wander around and do Pirate Things, largely ignoring the GO TO THIS WAYPOINT and LEAVING MISSION AREA kind of stuff?

2. That there's a bare minimum of the Animus? (Science has not yet devised a tool to measure how little I care about the Animus).

EDIT: Maybe the fact that I want it to be as little like Assassin's Creed as possible means that I should just go ahead and not buy this Assassin's Creed game. :p

I shot a guy in his stupid face from my ship with my ship's cannon and he we went flying.

10/10 would pirate bastard again.
 
There's still missions and stuff in Black Flag and a lot of them are hella tedious crap like "Follow these guys and listen to their boring-ass conversation for seven minutes as you duck from shrub to shrub... oh!  got caught?  Now do it again!"

But the pirating is a bunches of fun and once you get far enough to unlock the open map, there's lots to do with finding buried treasures and secret grottoes and capturing Man o' Wars.

There's "animus fragments" in the game for people who just love collecting stuff but they're not tied to the story nor required.

I think they do it just so you have to buy a Windows Phone to use the authenticator app. My IP is static and I have to "authenticate" my browser every single time I log into MS on the web.

Hmmm. Fair enough. I'll bet the good parts would be worth suffering through the bad parts. (I liked Shadow of Mordor, after all).

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I'm reading this as free-to-play mechanics added to the drinks and not so much DRM. You need to wait for your refill. Or, if you don't want to wait, you can always spend real world monies to get your drink sooner.

Yeah, it's annoying. We really only have the land-line for emergencies (ringer and answering machine are on mute & we check/skip through messages every couple days). We get so many telemarketing calls (gov't do-not-call list... my ass!) that we're both extremely reluctant to give out our cell #s. I'm hoping the 'we can't use that land-line' message is a bug or something and will be resolved soon.

If not, I may have to find another easy way to earn some Amazon credit that won't take more than a few mins a day).

I need to come up with just over R10.00 worth of stuff on nuveem to buy since they sent me a coupon for that amount when I asked for a partial refund for them dropping Wasteland by that amount within just a few short hours of that purchase. Good through July 21st. Anyone have a clue how long their Winter Sale will last?

I used to feel that way, but I got sick of searching for things like "gorgeous Thai hottie Bali erotic sex video" whenever they get taken down from pornhub/xvideos/redtube. Youtube Downloader works on those sites.

I gave up after I had to ride my horse to the next town over and after five minutes I still wasn't there yet. I don't understand these games where transportation from one part of the game world to another with nothing to do along the way makes up a big part of the "gameplay." The whole reason I play games is for instant gratification.

 
Square Enix loves to put their junky last gen catalog on sale constantly.  I think I bought every one of those games in one giant SE bundle on steam 3-4 years ago for like $50.

See and I actually use the mod in Skyrim where the wagon isn't fast travel and moves from one town to the next while you're sitting on it. It's nice for immersion, gives a little break and I do occasionally see something that catches my attention worth stopping the cab and keeping the meter running.

But I can see the point in a pure action game where that might not be the most fun thing in the world.
