going from a 480 to a 1070 isn't as big of a jump as I thought it would be.
You went from a 4GB RX 480 to 8GB GeForce GTX 1070, right?
Wait - what the heck settings do you even run games at? Only 1080p?
On VRAM alone, you should have plenty of future in your vid-card. I'd rather have the 8GB over 4GB.
If I was going for a new card, 4GB really is only going to get you so far at 1440p or above - I'd rather have the 6GB 1060, 8GB 1070, or 8GB 1080.
Even at 1080p, w/ my 4GB 960, I was throwing everything to the ceiling + pushing VRAM usage up to 4GB at Ultra with 1080p on games like Batman AK & Far Cry 4.
At 1440p, some games - eh, I have to be cautious on that 970's 3.5GB buffer, since now I'm normally aiming at 1440p.
More and more newer games are having stiffer recommended settings and whatnot, also.
Dishonored 2, Doom 2016, SoM, and Fallout 4 w/ the new texture pack come to mind - they all have higher settings for cards over 4GB!!
EDIT:
Looks like BF4 + BsI w/ the 480 are getting pounced by the 1070:

Also looks like 8GB GTX 1070 is pouncing even 8GB version of the RX 480 in many instances at higher res's + settings:
