I undertook the task of cleaning up my Steam wishlist.  I went from 1600 games to less than 300 and I am still going through it.  Now I will not have my email flooded with discount notifications on crap I won't buy anyway.

I played a lot of random indie games that had been sitting in my library forever. Not a ton of AAA games unfortunately:

Dishonored

Mass Effect 3

Portal 2 co-op

Distraint

Inside

Guacamelee

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Diablo III

Vanishing of Ethan Carter

Unravel

Pony Island

The Room/The Room Two

Freedom Planet

Fran Bow

Orwell

Superhot

The Turing Test

Pneuma: Breath of Life

I recently got back into The Division, so that took up some of my gaming time this December. Any other time was spent playing multiplayer games like Dead by Daylight, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, Warframe, etc.

How did everyone do w/ game-finishing in 2017?
I read this shortly after waking up and saw it as game fishing.

I honestly, think I like that question better as my game finishin this year was nearly nonexistent.

I think I only finished Forza Motorsports 7 (single player campaign) this year. I honestly spend too much time playing the same games over and over again.

I think I finished a couple HoGs.

Almost finished Sundered last night, but didn't beat the final boss... Although, that would've been after midnight anyways.

Now the real question...  How did everyone do with pizza finishing in 2017?

I lost count.

And a happy birthday to 90% of the people on the internet.
I remember one time I tried to enter my birthday (which IS January 1st) on some random site, and I got blacklisted because of it.. probably because of all of the morans that use 1/1 as their fake birthday. Why anyone would use that as their fake birthday is beyond me, I try to do the opposite if I'm using fake/alt accounts.

Well happy birthday kid!

My haul from the Winter Steam Sale:
Archibald's Adventures - $1.24
Dex with soundtrack - $2.96
Earth Defense Force Insect Armageddon: Complete Pack - $1.19
Sanctuary RPG Black Edition - 79 cents
Showtime! - 59 cents
Submerged - $1.99

I'm proud of my self control.

Games I finished this year:

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
Goldeneye (wii)
Kingdom Rush
Donkey Kong Country Returns (wii)
Baldur's Gate EE: Siege of Dragonspear
The Turing Test
Nazi Zombie Trilogy
Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone
Ultimate Doom
Doom II + expansion
Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
Super Mario 3D World (wiiu)
Doom 3 + RoE + Lost Mission
Total War Warhammer: long Vampire Count/Orc/Chaos/Brettonia campaigns
Poker Night at the Inventory
Kingdom Rush: Frontiers
Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year
Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald
Broforce
DOOM
Battlefield 3 (campaign)
Limbo
Walking Dead: Michonne
Total War Warhammer 2: Lizardmen campaign

Played through my entire doom catalog, they're all really good games.  Standouts are super mario 3d world and the witcher 3 expansions.  My least favorite was probably the battlefield 3 campaign (some parts were stupidly frustrating) or goldeneye (disappointing compared to n64 version).

In all seriousness, who keeps track of this? I know I beat Horizon: ZD. I still haven't beat'n Skryim. (hell, I still haven't made it to the top of that mountain you need to go to) I keep restarting PoE because I can't seem to settle on a class to play. So yea...
Even tracking it can be somewhat awkward as some people are going to have different standards for "complete".
For some, just completing the main storyline is going to be enough to claim a game complete, others are going to insist it only counts if one has 100% completion of the game.

(Being a PC gamer does make all of this so much easier, what with time tracking and such in the clients themselves)

Finished a good bit of games, around 60 or so. I'd have to check but I actually think the amount of games I acquired was about equal or maybe a bit more than the games I finished, so at this pace maybe this upcoming year I'll actually make progress in reducing my backlog as opposed to adding to it. Had a list documented of the games I played, but my laptop crapped out last week. Played some really great games this year, like Breath of the Wild and Witcher 3, which were basically tied for my favorite game I played. Actually it's a bit depressing because I don't see myself playing any new games this year that will come close to either of those experiences, unless some new game comes out that is an unanticipated release.

Divinity: Original Sin 3?

Divinity: Original Sin 3?
I actually haven't played either of the Divinity Original Sin games, I've been waiting for them to hit my price point. Hoping D:OS 1 gets under 10 bucks or is bundled this year. Still though, I don't see it being as good as BotW or W3. Those were amazing, and easily among the best 15 or so games I've ever played.

MoviePass is great.
It's hard to hate MoviePass. I only saw Star Wars last month. Still cheaper than actually paying for the ticket.

I actually haven't played either of the Divinity Original Sin games...
Me either. But, I have heard all kinds of great stuff about D:OS series. Especially D:OS2.

I do have D:OS1 sitting in the good old backlog.

EDIT:

My haul from the Winter Steam Sale:
Archibald's Adventures - $1.24
Dex with soundtrack - $2.96
Earth Defense Force Insect Armageddon: Complete Pack - $1.19
Sanctuary RPG Black Edition - 79 cents
Showtime! - 59 cents
Submerged - $1.99

I'm proud of my self control.
It's easy to have self-control these days, when the sales are "meh" and/or the grand old backlog is already stacked.

EDIT 2:

Cat Quest officially CAG 2018 GOTY?
Wait. You mean to tell me that you found a game that isn't "meh"?

EDIT 3:

Even tracking it can be somewhat awkward as some people are going to have different standards for "complete".
For some, just completing the main storyline is going to be enough to claim a game complete, others are going to insist it only counts if one has 100% completion of the game.

It's when you finish the main quest, IMHO.

With so many games taking on the UbiSoft format of collect-a-thon side quests galore & a lot of other unimportant side stuff that players don't really need to do - yep, finishing the main story is what matters.

I have not bought it as of yet.  I did consider it.  I then thought  "this game is definitely going to be in a Humble Monthly"  and then bought other games that will almost certainly be Humbled so I'll probably still buy it.  Maybe.  I do not know.  You should buy it though.  Because.

So, is everybody just buying Cat Quest or what's going on? Have it in my cart...
After seeing it for $1.99 on Google Play when it was on sale last week, I've decided to pass on the Steam version until it gets bundled. The only difference is that the Android version doesn't have controller support.

If the theme doesn't do it for you and you aren't looking for a simple arpg it's an easy pass. I have no problem playing it with my 5 year old via steam link because he loves it. If not for his love of cats I dont think I would have even bought it. But he does enjoy it, so I'm fine playing it with him. There are games he'd like me to play that I can't stand, so I guess that says something about this one.

The dialog(all via in game text) is loaded with puns and mostly groanworthy attempts to turn every other word into a cat reference. The mechanics are simple yet decent. If they spent more time creating interesting ways to use those mechanics the game would be much better for it. It also sorely needs a way to take on multiple quests at a time to cut down on the backtracking. Instead it boils down to walking back and forth between locations, killing a few monsters, then skipping past some dialog to go and do it again.

It's not a bad game, but you can tell that it's aimed at what I would call tablet gamers. People looking for low complexity games that they can get in bite sized chunks and lots of repetition.

Actually got Dead Effect 2 VR, GORN, Space Pirate Trainer, The Surge, The Climb, Expect You to Die.

Mostly VR stuffs
