MysterD mentions at least one steakhouse and I just can't go to a steakhouse and not get a steak. I guess if I was just wanting something quick for lunch.
About Stockholders: their steaks and also their steak tips are excellent, BTW. I love their Kona steak.

That group owns a few restaurants. One of their other restaurants called Precinct 10 - that has a really good Smokehouse BBQ Platter, BTW.

EDIT:

Back to Stocks - this past weekend, I tried their new 50/50 burger. Half short-rib, half regular burger. It was so different...and delicious.

How do you guys feel about chicken on pizza?  This Chipotle Chicken Pizza is almost done cooking.  Smells pretty good.  After I finish this I just have one hawaiian red baron left from the Kroger $2 deal.

Also, you guys are delusional about your pricing.

Last time I got a combo at burger king it was like $10.

For $10 at Five Guys you get fresh ingredients, made to order, unlimited toppings, fresh fries cut that day, unlimited peanuts. Not sure what you expect for $10.
Not sure what you're getting at Five Guys for $10, but I paid way more than that when I went, something on the order of $28 for two people. That's sit-down restaurant money to me.

I'll allow it.

I actually eat chicken on store-bought pizzas on a semi-regular basis, DiGiorno's maybe?

We usually get a little cheeseburger or bacon cheeseburger each and share fries, no drinks because we get it to go. I find their burgers overstuffed so I'm fine with just one meat patty and they give so many fries that sharing isn't a big deal. But if you do the regular two patty burger, fries and drink for each person, it is closer to $15 a pop.

I like Five Guys
Leave your #Gamergate stuff out of this

I used to be cool with Five Guys but they (or at least the one near me) has gone downhill and isn't worth it to me. They've become increasingly stingy with the fries (but the price is the same), the burgers are so-so and the service is terrible. Maybe twice a year I'll go again to see if things have changed and the only difference is getting less fries.

For a standard cheeseburger, I'd rather go to one of the umpteen beef 'n gyros joints that abound and for something mildly more upscale, I'm still happy with Red Robin. Although their free fries are tempered by a wait staff that studiously avoids coming near you so you never get more than one refill of your fifteen fries. That Royal with the egg though keeps me coming back.

As we're talking about non-deal sandwiches today, I went to a really popular local chain barbecue place called BRQ the other day. The menu was eclectic to say the least. I went with the fairly generic-sounding brisket sandwich with fries. The brisket was small cubes of meat and you put your own from a selection of four "house" sauces on it: a regular one, a Louisiana one (supposedly a bit spicier, but it didn't seem like it), a honey-mustard one (a bit different to me, but good in its own way), and a vinegar-based one (I studiously avoid acetic acid outside of laboratory settings). The pretzel bun was good, softer than other sandwiches I've had on that type of bread. The fries were okay, but not really better than what you'd get at Wendy's. That plus an unsweetened tea set me back about $17. For about $9, I can get a big brisket, pork or chicken sandwich with fries and a large tea from Sonny's. I'll probably stick with Sonny's.

This is what I *really* miss about living in Chicago. I mean, I've yet to find a place that makes/sells a gyro cheeseburger like they did there. I'd be fiendin' right now if I hadn't just been there last month.

You haven't lived until you had the taco burger at Taco Casa:

Red Robin is very good but you can't get out of there without spending $20-24 after tip and that's pretty much just a deluxe burger and a soda.  Yes, they are also stingy about the fries.  You have to pester them to bring you more and they come out when you're done with your meal.  The severs make things take longer than they should, especially when they're busy.  Maybe it's just the area and location of the one I go to.

Five Guys is okay but it's kind of bland.  It also turns into a runny, complete mess to eat if you order any sort of toppings like lettuce and tomato.   It's basically the last place you'd take anyone on a date bc you have to turn into a complete slob just to eat the burger while it disintegrates into runny juices all over your hands.

I did the Shake Shack thing once too, at the Mall of America.  Burger, fries, and drink came out to $18 total.  Holy crap!  That was also after the guy working there gave me his employee discount of 10% for some reason, because I was a new customer or something.  So $20 to go.  The food was very good but that was a one-time thing.  I simply don't pay that much to eat a burger and have self-service.   They get people with their a la carte pricing.

I love a good restaurant burger when I'm hungry for them.  But I usually go to Culver's to satiate that desire.  It still costs about 10 bucks to get what I want from there.  It just costs too much money to go out to burger joints, even Five Guys (it's like $13-15) when considering what you get for your money.

Shake Shack makes a pretty good burger, but it's stupidly overpriced for what you get. For the price I'd rather go to Five Guys any day.

That said, there's a local classy sitdown restaurant around here that has an $18 dry-aged 10oz. burger with truffle fries on their menu, and I'll pay the extra for that.

$15 will get me a "3/4 lb hand-formed wild hunted boar patty, topped with Gruyere cheese, cabbage slaw, fried onion & horseradish cream on a pretzel roll" which is a yummy burger treat. But I gotta pay an extra fin for my fries.

Whataburger is generally my go-to fast food burger.  Nothing amazing but it beats the usual suspects as far as big chains go.  If I want a good burger I drag out the grill and make it myself.

Zaxbys, now that's overpriced trash.
Mine's fine, probably second to Chick-Fil-A. After that as far as major chains it goes Popeyes, BoJangles, and KFC. Wendy's makes an alright chicken sammich if we wanna include them. Never had Raising Cane's.

Smash Burger was probably the worst experience I've ever had.   It basically tasted like McDonald's.

I walked by a Wahlburger's at the Mall of America last week.   That place any good? You know, the Donny and Marky Mark Wahlburg "casual fine dining" burger franchise.

I always thought Steak n Shake made the best burgers but I haven't had one in awhile so maybe they aren't what I remember. Not sure if there are any near you, think I remember some being around Chicago but not sure how far west they are.

I don't like to eat "premium" burgers out.  Every place I tried have been burnt on the outside and overcooked on the inside.

If you're spending $10 at Burger King, you're doing it wrong. Get on that classic 90's Rodeo Burger hype.

There's a hierarchy of burger places: there's the bottom tier, which includes fast food joints like Burger King and Five Guys, then there's the middle tier of restaurant chains like Red Robin and Applebee's, and then there's the upper eschelon of hipster burger restaurants that'll serve a bacon-wrapped chicken burger between two waffles drowned in maple syrup. Those are the places I enjoy.

My favorite burger restaurant serves a burger with deep dish pizza slices for buns. Cuz if you're going to have a heart attack, you gotta make sure it was worth it.

They also have a mac 'n cheese burger...

Edit: The Rodeo Burger is an unsung hero of the burger world and literally the only thing I'll ever get at Burger King.

How about cheeseburger pizza? Are pickles and mustard acceptable pizza toppings?
I would say that the image I posted isn't really pizza.

It's a loose meat, open-face cheeseburger on round flatbread.

EDIT:

Guys... what about pineapple on burger?

I like Five Guys, but Red Robin does have unlimited fries. I still like the Five Guys fries better. Closest RR is now 45 minutes away so we just don't go often.

I'd like to find a place with good garlic knots or bread sticks. That's the one place where the chain places are absolute trash. Pizza hut knots are awful. I remember the local place in college had good breadsticks and knots. Funny because the pizza was just so so.
Also prefer Five Guys fries.

There was a place here with slighly above average pizza, but had good Philly cheesesteaks. They moved to a large location in the wrong part of town (in a plaza of Asian food), and closed.

Blaze, a mini chain, has ok garlic knots.

Whataburger.
I think that should be "What? A burger?!?"

No, seriously, I think these guys are profoundly overrated. I've eaten there a few times, and it's not any better than your Burger King/McDonald's fare.

You guys should try Freddy's.

Had a good ole Kickin Chicken from Zaxby's yesterday.
I've heard not-good things about Freddy's.

I am a fan of Zaxby's. The Cajun Club is a good sandwich, the fries are well-seasoned, and the Wimpy sauce makes a good dipping sauce for them. Also, they carry Mellow Yellow Zero and Pibb Xtra in their drink machines. That's hard to find.

No Wahlburger's in my area--too far south for it.

I like the odd Steak'n'Shake, but I figured people go there mostly for the shakes.

Wait, what? There's no way Applebee's is middle tier if Five Guys is bottom tier.
Five Guys is super greasy and fast casual, so I lump it in the bottom tier with other fast food chains. It's the restaurant itself that isn't in the same tier as places like Applebee's, Red Robin, or Texas Roadhouse, where you can get a beer and watch a sports game or catch up with friends. Five Guys, Carl's Jr, Elevation Burger, etc. are all on the upper end of that bottom tier of fast food to me, and that's because you have to take into account what type of place you're eating at to properly gauge the quality of a burger (i.e. "it's great for fast food" or "terrible for how much I paid"). Kind of like how you'd tell your friends if you banged a model but won't tell them about plowing out a hooker on meth.

Sometime I'll make a graphic comparing burger quality between tiers of restaurants to better explain the concept.

I like the Peach Mello Yello.

I dunno, but I wouldn't put Burger King (and Wendy's & McDonald's) in the same world w/ Five Guys.

Five Guys is much better than those places.

If it's anything like the one around here (quality can sometimes vary from place to place w/ chains) - yeah, it's actually good. Surprise, surprise.

For fast food burger joint, certainly one of the better ones; especially for a (growing) chain.

Freddy's > Culvers. Plus their frozen vanilla custard is delicious. They're also about the only place around here you can get a Chicago dog and I love me a good Chicago dog.

I have a fear of being murdered by animatronic animals at a place called Freddy's so I will never step foot in it.  I had this fear before that stupid video game was made.

Okay, Five Guys is so much a step above fast food.  I mean if you technically want to put it between fast food and casual then so be it because it is technically fast-casual, but to lump it with fast food is just stupid.  And for the record, Five Guys is usually way better than those fast casual places that tend to overcook and burn burgers.  Red Robin is the exception because they specialize in burgers.

Once you get to pizza slice and mac and cheese buns you're not even eating burgers any more.  You're that guy who's desensitized himself to regular porn and has to watch smurf tentacle pubg stepsister porn parodies in the hopes that something will make your limp dick come alive again.

I'd kinda prefer to see a graphic comparing the quality of models and hookers that you're plowing--as a metaphor for the quality of hamburgers.

I like the Peach Mello Yello.
Yes, but the Cherry is good too.

Probably the kind of guy who would watch a movie called, "Cherry is Good II," and not feel a thing. Poor S.O.B.

Pineapple's fine on a burger.

Other things I've had and liked on a burger include sausage; bacon; and short-rib.

I also like pretzel-style buns/rolls for burgers too. My favorite roll for a burger, honestly. Not many places use those around here though.

I put Five Guys in a different tier than Red Robin or Applebee's based entirely on whether you're ordering at the counter and loitering around waiting for your number to be called so you can grab it or whether you're at a table with some disinterested server handing you a menu.

Five Guys is in its own tier.  It certainly isn't fast.

I haven't set foot inside an Applebee's in years.  Can't stand that place.  Everything is reheated freezer food that is low quality.  The townies camping at the bar stare you down with that half cock-eyed look while being drunk off mouthwash.  It's the dredges of suburban America.  Chicks just liked to order chicken fingers with honey mustard there back in high school and that's about all it was good for: teenage group meetups.  Anything > Applebee's.

I don't like any of their food either, but the cheesesticks are ok I guess.... probably not anything you'd go out of a way to go to a restaurant for.

Anybody going to get the Schlotzskys deal next Saturday? I did it last year, but I feel like the deal is slightly worse this year. You pay $30 for a 4 pack of Cinnabon's and you get a card for a free Original every week for the next year. I think last year it was a bit cheaper and I feel like you got a 6 pack of Cinnabon's. Not a big difference, but I'm still not sure if I want to do it because I don't like their bread that much and on their basic sandwiches, you're basically getting a lot of bread without a proper amount of the the other stuff on the sandwich.

The place I got the card last year said that they would let you use the card for $5 off anything on the menu, but said other Schlotzskys wouldn't necessarily do that. Even though that location is the closest to my house, it's actually the location I go to the least out of the 4 closest to me. 1 is close to my work, another is right on my commute, and another is near my house on a major freeway going towards downtown whereas the slightly closer one is further away from downtown meaning I rarely pass it.

I haven't had good luck getting other ones to use it as $5 off, but it often comes down to whatever employee you get. I've also had other inconsistencies, like when I miss a week, I've had some employees just stamp the next empty space. I've had other employees skip the empty space(s) and mark the valid week and I've had another person actually x out the weeks I missed.

So you pay $30 for some Cinnabons and 52 sandwiches? Seems like a good deal if you like their sandwiches I guess...

Never heard of that deal.  I'm with you, the bread to sandwich ratio at Schlotsky's is off.  I think it started in Austin so when I was there they had a ton. I just never really went.  Sometimes they are combined with Carvel's so you can get Fudgie there.  There's only one near me about 45 minutes away and last time we tried it we found it underwhelming.

Forgot to address Whataburger - being from Texas it's my favorite fast food chain, but it's still that, fast food.  I appreciate the big bun and good ratio of fresh veggies to meat/cheese. I think they get it right.  That said, I think sometimes people over hype it and first timers go in expecting more than what it is.  Happened to me with In n Out.  All you idiots were saying it was just the best place and when I finally tried I was like, eh, this is like a step above McDonald's.  Also, there can be bad Whataburgers. Last time I was in Texas I wasn't able to eat there, but on the drive back I saw one in Mississippi.  Tried it and it was the saltiest, most disappointing piece of crap burger I ever had.  fuck mississippi.
