I'm actually pretty thankful for the $5 off $30.  Has me considering stuff like Ys VIII and Div OS2.

The $5 off is one-time and for not multiple checkouts, correct?

Terms say that it's valid on your first qualifying purchase, so it should be one-time use only.

Also, it's worth mentioning that the next Humble Choice goes live next Friday. Might be a good idea to wait and see what's in that since you'll still have six days left in the Summer Sale.

At least they did away with the BS of having to add funds to your wallet to get a $5+ discount, even if it is a one time $5 off $30.

As for the lack of events, I prefer this since they have been screwing them up a lot.

And for those looking to sell backgrounds/cards/etc try:

https://steam.tools/itemvalue/

My only gripe is that they don't have a "request to buy" price option.

Also helpful:

Nice, just sold off some stuff to get Doom 64.

ONLY 1 CARD FROM DISCOVERY QUEUE?!?!

EDIT:

And it doesn't even show up...

WORST STEAM SALE EVER!
I wonder if they screwed up, I can't find it in my inventory either, but I seemed to get a card when buying Doom 64.....

I seem to remember bugs getting queue cards at the start of previous sales. Hopefully it gets fixed later.

In for The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC and The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd.

Been a while since I followed a steam sale, do they still do flash sales during the sale? A couple of things my spouse and I are looking to pick up for coop play, is it better to wait or doesn't matter?

Flash sales haven't been in Steam sales for years. It doesn't matter about when you buy. I usually do a massive purge of my wishlist and then buy a few things that are cheap enough. Usually amount to about $20 in all.

Nice decision.

If someone doesn't own FC and SC, grabbing both is a great way to land very close to the $30 mark. Probably my top gaming experience on steam, ever.

3rd is also good but I don't recommend playing them consecutively since there's a lot of retread. But do play 3rd before Zero.

Does anyone know of a resource that tells you all of the current "complete your bundle" offerings on the steam store in which 1+ title is in your library? TIA.

I couldnt even load that shit ass Ys game; none of them work on AMD 3900x processors unless you lock cores which is bullshit; don't worry though, the amazing devs are porting it to other consoles instead of fixing the PC release

I'm guessing your experience was before January of this year, in which the game had a pretty extensive technical overhaul. One reason the price has remained relatively high, I imagine.
I dunno I think the price sticking has more to do with keeping consistent across platforms as no version between the 4 has dropped below 30 for the most part. I think it hit 27 on green man gaming for vip members and that's the lowest.

Wow, a useless points store for useless items.......
Even worse, it's a useless point store for useless items that ruins the market for trading cards even further because now you don't need to keep redeeming packs to try to get the times.

Now noone is going to pay $5 plus for the weed emoticon from Port Royale because they can just pay steam points. (I remember when that emoticon was going for $15+)

Next spring Steam will allow you to convert gems into bracelets.
Then during the summer, you can convert bracelets into coins.
Then the following fall, you can convert coins into pogs.
Then during the holiday sale, convert pogs into rations.
Then after that you can convert rations into Gaben idols.
Honestly, I wasn't too far off...

If you did the Discovery Queue earlier and didn't get the card, do one again now.  It didn't drop the card from earlier, but I got a card just now for doing another.

So Hidden Folks is a neat casual game and apparently they added more content and they also folded the DLC into the main game.  I went looking for the DLC to see if it was on sale and it was gone.  The price did go up but it is still worth what they are asking, IMHO and mostly I am posting this because if you had this and played the base game, now you have DLC areas in your game to go back and play.  (also it was in the itchio bundle if you bought that, no idea if that version was updated to include the DLC or not though)

That would have been smart... Sadly, I just bought the game I wanted. I guess the good news it's not on sale on Humble so it's not likely to be bundled, right?

The version on Itch.io was last updated three weeks ago, same time that the DLC got added to the base game on Steam. Played through both of the DLC level sets back when they got added and enjoyed them a lot. It's more Hidden Folks, which was exactly what I wanted.

Probably helps but it isn't a sure thing (see: Crash/Spyro/COD WW2 last year).

So I am looking at the Borderlands 2 GOTY edition...I bought this game like back when it came out so I have the base game and 2 of the extras. Is there some way I can buy the GOTY bundle but exclude the stuff I already own to get the bundle discount? Am I missing something?

In my cart it says "if purchasing for yourself, you will not receive an extra copy of:"

Ha, well if it's Halo then you've got no worries. There are probably a handful of games that are safe bets to not end up in a Humble Bundle any time soon (if ever). MCC is one of them.

Borderlands Handsome Collection is a "Complete Your Collection" bundle that gets cheaper if you own some of the DLC, although it also includes the Pre-Sequel and some of its DLC as well. So if you don't already have (or want) those then it may not be of interest to you.

Appreciate the info. I think I will pass on that bundle as I would buying too much I am just not interested in right now.

Is there a way to split up my cart for personal purchases and gifts? My spouse and I are both buying some games for co-op play, she is getting a few I already have and we are getting a few neither of us have. Together we would hit the $30 for the additional discount. I would be buying two copies of some and duplicates of what I already have in my library for others, if I just buy the whole cart as gift does steam email me the codes and we redeem under each of our accounts?

I was thinking about getting Plagues Tale, Black Mesa, Doom 64 and one of TrumpCat's hidden gems to hit $30 but I probably wouldn't play Plagues Tale or Black Mesa anytime soon. Those two are only gonna get cheaper anyways, only getting Doom 64. Thanks Steam summer sale!

That was shorter than I expected and overall disappointing, but I'm sure you're used to hearing that.

If you love Hidden Folks, check out Hidden Through Time:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/524910/Hidden_Through_Time/

They basically stole the concept (yep, not related to the Hidden Folks devs), but they added a level editor so you can make your own puzzles. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Gift purchases don't count towards the $30 threshold, unfortunately. Valve thought ahead and figured people would probably use alt accounts to gift games to their main accounts in order to get multiple discounts.

Jesus, you aren't kidding. Looks good, though.

This is correct.

They could have thought ahead to mildly compete with EGS and just allow multiple 5 off 30's. I would have done 2-3 carts of purchases. Instead I will just be making one.

Same here. I've got $48 worth of stuff lined up to purchase and would've added more if it meant getting an additional $5 off.

shit, these cards are selling for twelve cents. should i sell them now, and later if i want the badge, get it when the bottom falls out?
We're only getting 1 a day instead of the 3 of years before so not sure if the bottom is going to fall out as much, doubt they go up in price though.

"later if I want the badge" tells me that you should just sell them. Save up your Gabenpennies for one a' them Hentai Pussy games!

Still thinking about GTA4 but keep reading about technical issues with the game even after the new 'repackaged' version.  Also maybe Bulletstorm for $4 because... why not.  Doubt it ever gets bundled at this point.

Here's my potential buy list (24 items, total to $36.14, so qualifies for coupon).  Some are bundled before but I didn't get them, but they all have positive reviews and are generally cheap.  Figured I'd post early in case people want to look into them as potential buys.  I'm waiting until the new humble reveals to pull the trigger:
