I'd like to give a big shout out to the Blue Team.  The Blue Team was the CAGly-est team.  We weren't duped by Gaben's mindtricks, we saw right though them and profited from them by selling all our cards to the crafting suckers on the competing teams.  

We only won once, the late day we were scheduled to win, thus avoiding any temptation to use our cards instead of selling them.  We had the least points stolen from us since we weren't a "threat" to competitive teams.  

Like in any goldrush, the only winners are those selling supplies to the hopeless fools.

I'd like to give a shout out to Red team. They carried me through the battlefield allowing me to gather not one, but two summer cards on several occasions during the week which I then in turned sold to the crafting suckers. I fed intentionally, but they farmed up, six slotted, and pushed lanes, taking the opposing teams towers with malice and obliterating their racks. The ancient stood no chance. Commendations will be given out at the end of the match.

Agreed -- it was one of those games for me that I finished in just a couple of sessions and I had a great time doing it. It doesn't take itself seriously at all, and the slow-down and graded shot mechanics really made it fun. That's one game that doesn't deserve to sink to the bottom of a backlog.

If anyone plays and enjoys Beat Hazard, I would strongly suggest getting the Shadow Ops DLC, it adds a ton of replay-ability to the game in the form of new ships with their own "shadow mission" (basically bonus objectives) and workshop support so people can add their own ships and design their own shadow missions.

Why was I not aware of this? Were I not already done with my purchases, I would grab this now. I love Beat Hazard, but at this point, I'll wait for it to be 66% off or better.

Well poop on me. Steam got me to buy more. I ending up biting on Ikaruga, Strider, and Double Dragon Neon. I made a bit back from Neon by selling the extra copy for a couple of TF2 keys. 

Just like last year when Super SFIV lost a community choice (the game I wanted most) I bit again on the CCs that lost that I wanted most. I really want to play these 3 soon, so I figured Id go for it. I still didnt spend even 1/3 of what I did last summer or even this past winter.

 
I ended up with Payday 2, Civ Brave New World, and Borderlands 2 GOTY. Really wanted to get goat simulator after seeing my girlfriends interest in it, but can't justify it at $6.

Oh... Apparently I bought castle crashers, fable, and the syberia bundle too. Amazing how I already completely forgot about buying those until checking my email.

And witched 2... You know your game buying habit is bad when you have no intention to play what you bought, let alone remember what you bought.

I'm trying to pick up a few last games from some traders, and then I'll be done. (The number of them who are asking for 20% profit is amazing these days... 10-15% used to be the standard when paying with keys.)

So played an hour of Card City Nights one of my #fakeCAG/bundle fodder buys. It seems a decent little card game, rather play it then Magic I think. Likely due to deck building and being a fair bit easier then Magic.

Have to go farther to see how the AI difficultly ramps up. Right now they are pretty stupid and you'd probably have to be trying to lose to actually do so, but that's fighting like 4 people (one is the "tutorial," basically).


Also played Circuits, it's a neat concept but been better probably waiting for it to get bundled again. I'm not a huge puzzle game player though.

Lastly Borderlands 2 feels, a couple hours in, like Borderlands with snow and I don't mind that.
 
I've finally had the chance to play around with Vertiginous Golf (in Early Access). Here are some early thoughts and a breakdown of the game in its early stages.

Basically Vertiginous Golf is what I would imagine playing Golf up in BioShock Infinite's city of Columbia to be like. It's very steampunk, very bizarre, and kind of crazy. The controls do take some getting familiar with and you can choose whether to use a controller or KB+M. So far I've only used the KB+M which is alright. Playing through the tutorial level is highly recommended to learn all of the controls at your disposal and the physics of the game.

Aiming and judging your swing speed/power seems to be the toughest parts to get down at first. On my first attempt at the tutorial level I had 24 strokes on the par 15. Then on my next attempt I shaved off 5 strokes for a 19. Getting a feel for the physics will take a little time I think, especially once you get into some tight spots.

You have some abilities to help you navigate each hole. A mechanical humming bird that helps visually plan where your next shot should go and how to approach areas you can't see. You also have an aftertouch ability that allows you to slightly change the direction the ball moves on a surface. Such as moving left, right or slowing down. You can also rewind your shots but I haven't played around with this much.

So far the game has 18 holes, a putter & chipper to use, a rewind & aftertouch gameplay element, local multiplayer, leaderboards, Oculus VR support and some semblance of an early story. The developer appears to be very attentive with constant updates since the game was released in early May. Plans to add 45+ holes, online multiplayer, a full-blown mystery (?), steam workshop, and steam achievements just to name a few are expected upon completion in October.

The game is pretty challenging but fun if you like golf and mini-golf like elements. It's difficult for me to recommend this game unless you like golf and steampunk design. I play golf in real life but I've rarely played much video game golf and this is very different than either of those two.

Right now Vertiginous Golf is 66% off at $5.09 during the last 10 hours of the Summer sale. The 4-pack is currently on sale for $15.29 (or $3.83 each). If you feel like taking a shot (pun intended) perhaps I'll see you on the learderboards if this sounds like something you'd like to try. It's a fairly niche game but it has a positive outlook to be pretty fun once it's complete.

Some of them are ridiculous, too: they seem to have a policy of X RUB per key, and if you're so much as 1 or 2 RUB over that, it increases their asking price by a TOD ticket (or even a whole key if they're one of those traders who won't accept anything but whole keys.)

 
it may have just been the games I wanted but I didn't see much cost savings from doing Russian transactions during this sale

do you guys just wait for keys to get cheaper and stock them that way? Could be because they were going for like 2.40 at the time

Yeah, some games are loads cheaper over there, while others aren't. If you're buying keys off the market, that makes it a lot less likely that it'll be worth trading for the games: a lot of people buy their keys off sellers for $1.80-$2.00 Paypal, while I had a bunch left over from trading TWD:SI (screw you Activision for "fixing" that price. :cry: )

I'm glad someone else found the concept interesting. I decided to pick it up also since I've really been wanting a golf game for some reason and I really thought the steam punk setting looked cool. I normally steer clear of early access stuff but I thought this was unique (and cheap) enough to take a shot on. Now I just need to get around to actually playing it.

I got my copy for $4 from josgba2002. So if anyone is thinking about picking it up you might want to talk to him first.
