I can't be certain about any of this because, as I said earlier, MS has been really quiet about all of it. However, I did try to run the Marketplace client a few minutes ago and I kept getting a connection error even though there's nothing wrong with my internet at the moment. That's a bit odd.

 
Looks like Bloodborne is the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls according to IGN. So it's only a matter of time until pasports31 gets a PS4, right? ;)

Ah, now I'm kinda hyped again. I still don't think DS2 should have ever been a thing, but at least they're going back to the spiritual successor pattern.

Hopefully it's not just a line to cover up the similarities in gameplay.

One is exploiting a glitch on Amazon, of which there is no rule against. The other is using a cheat program that is clearly forbidden by Playfire, which there is a rule against. Not to mention Amazon is not going to discontinue their entire Amazon Coins (not blue coins, wiseguy) program simply over a glitch or two that gave people some extra coins. Even an Idiot like me knows that, so what does that make you?

Yeah I don't remember bonus cards for leveling, just for the above stuff. What I do remember is that I was way off in selling my cards before the sale started because the value rose steadily, and it wasn't worth holding on to the cards until the last minute because there was no spike then either.

And I hope to crap they don't do the F2P items again, although I'm sure they will. Well, as long as I get the valuable shit and the alts get the 1c snowflakes then I'm cool with it.

I'm wrong about the extra Steam card.

For six months. I've had it in my head that during next sale I probably should wait to craft badges until the event began, but my point remains that people should consider holding off on crafting. And here's why:

During the event, you get a sale trading card and a bonus item. Right now you just get the card.

The items might turn out to be total rubbish, or they might be marketable -- we don't know. It's something to think about though if you're busy crafting badges pre-sale.

dfg: I agree -- sell cards early. Buy them late if you really want to get a badge.

Where exactly does it say that? If it is against the rules, I definitely won't do it again. There's no point risking getting my Amazon account banned over some silly apps I don't even use.

All I'm seeing is this:

"4. If you return or receive a refund for the product subject to the promotion, we may revoke the Coins we gave you (or, if you have already spent those Coins, deduct the same number of other Coins from your account or charge your credit card or other payment instrument for any products you purchased using those Coins)."

Which doesn't really apply. There's also a small bit talking about "fraudulently" obtaining coins, in which case they may remove the coins from your account (similar to what it says above), but again it's very vague. A glitch on Amazon's side is hard to call "fraud", so that doesn't seem to apply either.

I'm not trying to argue or anything, but I just don't see anything there that says that occasional cases where deleting and rebuying an app that gives coins are "against the rules" at any point in the ToS. If I'm missing it, feel free to point it out.

Good point about the items, and there was a card price spike early in the holidays sale but I'm pretty sure prices were lowest before it actually started, so if someone wants to craft a badge :)handraised:) they should stock up on (and not craft) cards now.

Nowhere in that clause does it state that deleting and rebuying an app is against the ToS. Amazon's appstore is made so that you can delete and app and buy it again at a later time.

Last summer was the first time a sale coincided with cards (they were in beta before then). You got some bonus junk (wallpaper, emoticon, etc) during that sale and during the winter sale you got some stuff for F2P games like DOTA and TF2. Prices for them varied from a few pennies for common stuff to many dollars for the rarer items.

Took a look back through my receipts (December 19/20th, for those who feel like checking their histories), sold off most of my Winter Snow Globe cards in the pre-sale rush for around $0.75 a piece, with the highest reaching $1.19.  Topped that a couple days later with one that sold for $1.56...but that may have been a foil, hard to tell since the detailed history on Steam apparently doesn't go back that far.

Looking forward to seeing how the market plays out this time.  Funded lots of impulse purchases with that initial sell-off.  As crappy as most of those F2P rewards were, the gold rush was quite enjoyable.

edit: yeah, that $1.56 was a foil, just realized they actually have the name of the card right in the stupid email receipt.  hooray for reading!

Thanks for corroborating and the dates. The Steam email receipts do actually list what was sold (and to whom) if you still have those. I see my earliest sale was on the 11th for 19c; ouch. My highest was only 47c on the morning of the 20th. 'Round the same price 24 hours later (12/21), but down to the 20s the next day (12/22). I have the shittiest timing.

I'm just saying these guys have a history of remaking the same game under a new IP over and over again. Seems unfair to skip one of those remakes as we continue to call the newest a "spiritual successor" to the last.
