Well, I ended up on Team Pink.  Really wanted Purple since it's my favorite color, though.  And as luck would have it, purple is leading...grrr...

Of the 42 games on my wishlist, only four of them ended up with no discounts at all (The Forest, Battle Chess, and ObsCure 1 & 2.)

My breakdown is all over the board...

One 10%,

One 15%,

Three 20%,

Two 25%,

Three 33%,

One 34%,

Two 40%,

Eleven 50% (+Five 50% DLCs)

One 55%,

One 60%,

Seven 66%.

So I have high hopes at least a few of these will break my 75% threshold during the dailies.

Bought Divinity II on GoG just because it's 80% off, $3.99, and now the "final version."  Always wanted to give it a-go.  I knew Steam Sale would be kinda meh as the deals are all over the place these days.  I kinda chuckled at Helsing 'cause I know I've seen it for way cheaper.  

Also, what's the deal with alpha's and pre-releases on my daily sales?  SMH, cmon guys.  Stop with that.  It's one reason I don't live on Steam these days because of Alpha this and Alpha that. I wish there was a filter that I could opt-in such that I don't see a game until it's labelled done. 

Also, completely lost interest in any form of "event" now that's it's all trading cards, badges, and whatever they do these days.  Loved the days of coal and free games, that was fun.  Maybe it's the backlog setting in, but the desire to go "all out" is kinda meh.  Or maybe I own too many Steam games?  *shrug*

Ya'll should buy Witcher 2 if you haven't already.  But I guess GoG probably already had it at that price buy now.  Wouldn't know as I have the collector's edition of that one. :p

The FAQ says that only accounts with level 8 and above can get cards from voting. But my new alts - which are level 3 - say that I'll get the cards once I reach level 5.

Anytime I get a game with cards if the cards are going for a good bit (.15+ per card) I'll post them for a few cents over and just let them sit on the Market. With the money earned from those cards, I re-invest them into cheap to complete sets and hold the cards until the sale. Then I basically craft it all during the beginning of the sale, and unload it all first day. My goal this time was to level my Steam account from 20 to 40 for free, and I actually did it while making a profit since the average Summer Sale card sale ended up being more than I paid to complete the sets.

Now is the time to unload everything because the cost of all cards is going to increase due to the Summer Sale structure. If you craft a badge you earn points for your team. If you earn points for your team, you get a bonus 1 card (or 2 if your team wins) per day. So, if you craft a single badge per day, you end up with either 2 or 3 cards. At current market value of cards (take home of .44), that's .88 to 1.32 you earn back for each badge you craft.

Considering the average for the cheaper badges was .60 to craft, it's just going to increase the price of all cards to bring it in line. I can craft a badge at .60, and earn back .88 selling the cards I earn for crafting it for a net gain of .28. That's going to shoot up card demand and the average cost for badge will increase (closer to .70 now). As the free cards flood the market, the cost per summer card will drop as well.

In short, as long as the summer cards are getting .35 each in return, you can craft 1 cheaper badge per day and break-even on cost, possibly make money if your team wins and/or you get a foil. That's the way to play this moving forward. If you haven't yet, the cheapest one to craft is CS:GO. I'd craft that once per day to get the double drop.

Long story short, there's no official word on TAGES. Some lists show it's still there and some show it is not. Some claim there is a Solidshield event at install and others say that the first patch you download makes TAGES inert. Others claim that you get an additional install (option) each month and I can say that I have never seen someone say they've run out of installs.

At one time Ubisoft claimed to be moving towards a single activation, but they haven't done a good job following up with specifics, leaving many people uneasy about purchasing their products.

 
In heckuvadeal news, Pinball Arcade is offering up three of their tables for $0.01.

Simply fire the game up (it's free to play), go into the Season One menu, then select one of the following tables: Black Hole, Theatre of Magic, or Ripley's Believe it or Not.  One of the options will be to purchase the Launch Pack.  Since this is an in-game transaction, you'll need that penny in your Steam wallet.

I'm so confused that even I'm not sure what the DRM status is at this point. I just caved and bought it a while ago on a cheap sale. The whole thing with the entry on the Big List of DRM on Steam with it supposedly being removed was based on assumption and circumstantial evidence where someone claimed to not be able to find the TAGES files so fitjibo or whatever the hell his name is just took them at their word. When I've installed it recently though it definitely created a hashtag based on my hardware and wanted to connect to solidshield's website so I'm still going with it still being there in some form. Possibly it's inert but I tend to think not with it making that connection and all.

It does also connect to your UPlay account. And if you buy it on Steam it requires Steam too, which UPlay and Steam aren't an issue for me but Tages kind of is.

Ubisoft's support has told people it's still there after the date people claim it was supposedly removed, but those people claim their support doesn't know their head from the hole in their ass. There never was any official patch note claiming it was removed.

I still think it's there, albeit it in some funky nonstandard form that's not so easy to detect in the files, but if you can get it ridiculously cheap with DLC then eh.

*Edited to add: Oh and the DLC is tied to your UPlay account so if you get it then it will apply both to the Steam and non-Steam versions (assuming you are weird like me and have both) no matter where you got the DLC or complete pack from.

Shitty night, slammed at work, stuck in track, head's about to explode, now I finally get to check out these deals.

I always end up buying shit I don't play, but I'm making it a mission to grab at least the Valve complete pack to go through. It's only $25.00 - that's pretty low right guys? The only search I could find on Google lower was a GMG sale last winter for $20.

fuck it I'm buying it, it can't go much lower.

Sure - I prefer DRM-FREE normally, yes.

But Steam really ain't flipping deals here like GOG did - especially if you look at Insomnia sale (if the sale's moving along) or GOG Summer 2014 sale.

I remember in the old days, Steam sales would put GOG to shame. Only thing w/ GOG was - well, you knew you were going DRM-FREE and often would pay a little bit more of a premium for that + some extra goodies (if there are any).

Plus, Steam only got 9 main deals + then 4 Flash deals. They basically took 4 main deals away!

EDIT:

Granted, it's only Day 1 here for Steam Summer Sale...but, this ain't looking like a great start, if you ask me.

Even if you own some of the content already - they still want you to get the bundle just to get what you're missing.

What really sucks is - if you buy the bundle and it has stuff you already own, you won't get extra copies...

blame on it the crybaby when steam sue to do 8 flash deals 2 each 4-6-8-12 hrs blame them all
