It's exceeded my expectations. Nothing amazing for me personally given my giant backlog, but definitely better than recent sales and a lot of good stuff for newbies. The above 75% off pricing on a lot of stuff has also been nice.

 
Do you guys think Dynasty Warriors 8 is worth it? This one comes with Xtreme Legends as well, but it doesn't really come with any DLC. Do you think the price will drop lower than $25?

This team thing is flat out genius by Valve.  It takes the already rabid want/need to buy games and complete sets and pushes it into overdrive by playing on people's competitive nature and want of "free" stuff.

if you usually only play DW8 by yourself or splitscreen, it's worth it. It's a fantastic game.

Unf Yaiba is the only other game Koei has put it out. And it hasn't recieved many price drops. So it's reasonable to assume DW8 won't be more than 50% off anytime soon.

The reason for the first sentence is because I usually play DW games with a friend, over the 'net. This game doesn't support LAN or internet play, only local splitscreen. So that's a pretty big deal to me. On the bright side they've relased 2 patches since the game was released, so Koei hasn't abandoned the game, but they haven't said if they'll bring online play over.

OK to the people asking will ______ go cheaper ask yourself Is it a time limited deal and not for the duration of the Summer sale? (Ie has a counter and says it ends some time sooner than June 30th). If so then no it won't go cheaper.

Stuff featured on the front page is as cheap as you are going to get it during this sale.

I bought it full price on release, it's my second most-played game on Steam. If you liked any of the previous games, you'll like this one. There's a lot of stuff.

On the other side of the coin, I loved Spore. The customization and variety of gameplay between the different stages of evolution was really interesting and cool. It's a well put together game.

Unfortunately the repetitiveness and length of the final space era just made the game dull once you get through it. Because of that, you'll probably only want to run through the game a couple times following different methods (good or evil).

I don't have the DLC though, and from what I hear that adds a lot to the space era, so that could very well make the game a hell of a lot better.

 
I'd certainly recommend State of Decay, it's a great game at that price. Breakdown is a good addition too. Lifeline's sorta meh.

Romance 11 is on Gamersgate and has gone cheap a couple of times but it's old as dirt and very, very rarely goes on sale.

But yeah DW8 ain't going any cheaper on Steam this go round.

Well, I wanted to like Spore more than I did. It was a bold idea executed in a mediocre way. The Creature Creator and raising your creatures through the first few stages were fun and interesting, but the game tends to lose a bit of its luster when you realize that there are basically a limited number of parts that grant you the maximum advantage in the combat and social situations that you need them for and there's little point in using a suboptimal part because the AI will crush you every time if you do. I did finish the space section with my critters (I don't remember the details because this was when the game was new), but it was a tedious affair. The Creepy and Cute pack adds a lot of new creature parts but this suffers from the problem I described above, and by the time I bought Galactic Adventures, I was pretty-much burned out on Spore, so I can't say too much about it.

EDIT: Also I like the idea of teaching about evolution using games, but Spore goes about it in a really weird way. Much of what you see in the game is Lamarckian and thus makes no sense. What I was expecting from Spore was a kind of ecosystem simulation similar to SimEarth or SimLife, but with a bit more fun, and what I got was, well, not that.

Haven't bought anything yet. The only daily/flash/choice stuff that I may have bought (Gunslinger, XCOM Bureau DLC) is price-gouged here.

Right, it was a glorious idea that was handled in a less than glorious way (did you really expect much more from EA?).

But it's still definitely worth playing through at least ONCE. There's nothing quite like it in the gaming world. I hear what you're saying about only using the best parts, but the game is relatively easy so I sort of just used whatever looked cool and made sure to add on some of the good stuff in addition to that. It's not too tough to manage without the very best stuff, even if it seems pointless not to use it (I'm always one for form over function in many games).

I'd really love to see a Spore 2 that comes at evolution in a different way instead of just being a pretty limited creature creator system.

Definitely getting State of Derpcay for $5, pondering the Breakderp DLC.  Would grab Prison Architect if it weren't in perpetual Alpha.

 
I buy alphas and betas after researching and seeing how much there is to them. Some devs sell "finished" games for $60 MSRP that are shallow and buggy as fuck, while some devs sell alphas and betas that are much deeper and more polished for way cheaper.

I'd imagine Prison Architect is more of a complete, great game than a lot of finished games out there, but it's not my kind thing so I'll wait for the bundle down the road.

 
Pixel Piracy looks interesting. By interesting I mean it's too expensive and by too expensive I mean it's an Early Access game with bugs.

Odds are we'll see it in a Humble or Blink Bundle in about 3-6 months.

Same here. This is one of the few titles I've bought in Early Access (around ~$12 at the time). I've received plenty of entertainment and enjoyment from it to not regret picking it up last Fall. Even though it started in Early Access it was a relatively safe bet considering it had been on Xbox prior to being adapted for Steam.

The last time I played PA was like 5mo ago, but even then it was fully playable and enjoyable (if you like the strategy/sim/building genre). Occasionally Ill pop into their forums and see what they are up to and they've just added more and more stuff and supposedly got the vast majority of the tech issues out of the way. it is definitely way more complete than alot of non-EA games

Just a quick checkup it appears the next month or two are getting rid of all the bugs they can and finalizing the content, then creating the actual campaign. As of now it is just a sandbox

The last time I played PA was like 5mo ago, but even then it was fully playable and enjoyable (if you like the strategy/sim/building genre). Occasionally Ill pop into their forums and see what they are up to and they've just added more and more stuff and supposedly got the vast majority of the tech issues out of the way. it is definitely way more complete than alot of non-EA games

Yeah, the last early access game I bought and played was Starbound, and though I'll admit it is still definitely early access, it's quickly become one of my favorite games to fire up. It's just so good and there's so much to it that I've regretted full price AAA purchases (in my console pleb days) far more.
