I keep seeing posts about the credibility of the daily contest. I'm not a reddit follower but a friend linked me in to the reddit discussions where there was a massive cooperative effort to let each team win two days. It's been accurate every day so far. Apparently, it appears steam may have instituted the new tiered winnings to combat this. And it looks like it's working so far. Seems the cooperative alliance has broken down (plus some drama about Purple team or something).

I wouldn't have believed it but seems to be the explanation for the runaway winner each day. I also can't believe I'm the one delivering this info to an online community. I was led by friend to believe that I may be the only person in the world that doesn't visit reddit. Anyway, I was pretty fascinated by it.

But it's not an impossible margin. It's about what you'd expect from strong group-think leading to the winning team members crafting hard and the members of the losing teams giving up.

Sure. It's possible they could do something like that, with a disclaimer in some sort of fine print. You'd expect to see closer races, though, as that would encourage the 80% that aren't winning to keep trying. One team zooming ahead and the rest together far behind seems the worst way to encourage market usage, which makes Steam money. (Of course, maybe Valve realizes that and decided to rig it to look this way because everyone would expect a rigged contest to look more competitive.)

Anyway. The change in the format seems to be changing the group behavior. I would have expected the group behavior to change soon anyway, however. Purple Team would have had no real incentive to not push hard for another win after their scheduled win today. The same goes for any team after its last scheduled win. For that reason, it applies to all of the teams before their last scheduled win, too, if they realize that the other teams won't hold the bargain.

I honestly find this quite interesting from a sociological perspective, though I do wish Team Pink was looking better today.

No. It's cheaper to buy an AMD Gold Rewards code and have your choice of three games (including Thi4f, Sniper Elite V3 and Murdered), than to buy the game at that price on its own. It didn't sell very well and it's Squeenix, so the price is gonna drop like a rock.

Anyways, today's dailies suck. Either repeats or games not discounted enough. AoW3 is probably the only good new deal. Flash and community's are a bit better. Woulda bit on the Space Hulk Collection if it was 90% off. :wall:

Same here. I'm just hoping the abandonment of the "agreement" helps maintain adventure card values a little better now that there's incentive to compete again. I miss that 50¢ card value for my vote card!

Not just adventure cards. Other cards sagged in value after the first couple of days of the sale, too.

For $6 you can get it in the current humble weekly. It doesn't have great reviews either, so I'm just going to wait.

I grabbed the base game. I never understood wanting to buy all the DLC for a game that I haven't even played yet. If I like the game & want more of it I will pick up the DLC during the Winter Sale (probably much cheaper).

Im guessing thats how the percentage off averages out. If you open the ultimate pack you see that none of the dlc in the pack are discounted either. So its the 90% discount of the base game spread across the non-discount of all the dlc and you get 66% off total for the pack

I usually like having all the DLC, but apparently they're going to be putting out more, so even the ultimate pack won't have everything. So I ended up splitting a 2-pack with a friend, and figure if I like it enough, I'll pick up all the DLC later, and if not, I'm only out $2.

I'm pretty sure you can find a copy for $2 in the trading section.

Yeah I don't know, seems like a lot of work for a 20 cent JPEG and a ticket for the world's least lucrative lottery.

 
The DLC for Space Hulk were on sale previously and some of them do add extra missions and weapons, this smells like Van Helsing.

 
For those considering Space Hulk, I would argue that it's the weakest game in the $6 tier in the Humble Strategy Bundle. https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly

I bought the $9 tier for Ironclad Tactics (and Unity of Command), and I've really enjoyed the few hours I've already put into it. Basically I'm saying that if you want space hulk, consider buying those other strategy games at the same time.

EDIT: Humble store also has the Space Hulk: Space Wolves chapter DLC on sale for $3.49.
