Who knew that Winter Wolves games would be good for something.. managed to trade Spirited Heart for Valiant Hearts 2 hours after the glitch was fixed.

CS:GO is the top selling game at a lousy 50% off? Does not compute.

And Ubi wonders why PC gamers like us normally resort to the CAG ways of buying, instead of buying ASAP at full price.

If companies didn't do such horrible practices of releasing games way early, unstable, unfinished, half-assed, lazy ports, "basic" ports, tons of DLC coming, inevitable re-released edition w/ everything later, Season Passes, downgrade graphics quality, release game w/ performance issues, annoying DRM, issues w/ connecting to online servers, and other bullshit - maybe they'd get better results, sales, and quicker cash from us.

They devalue their games so fast and quickly in so many ways, why buy ASAP at SnakeyBro pricing?

This is how it's gone so far with Ubisoft. 
 
1st: Ubisoft made a lot of press and gamers drool over Watch Dog's graphics at E3 2012. PC is said to be the lead platform by Ubisoft, claiming no downgrades.
 
2nd: Ubisoft released said game on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Turns out to be a good game on the on the consoles, with the PS4 looking the best of the two, arguably. But not near the version
 
3rd: The PC launch didn't go very well. Gamer's with even high-end specs ran into lag, stuttering and other graphics issues.
 
4th: A couple people, including a now known modder called theworse found PC specific graphical codes in the PC files of Watch Dog's that layed dormant and disabled. By enabling these graphics effects, the game was given the same or similar visuals of the video shown at E3 in 2012. Not only making the game look much better in a variety of ways than the PS4, but also made the game perform better.
 
5th: Internet erupts, Ubisoft eventually responds saying that their decision was based mostly on performance (wrong) and stability (also wrong). Soon afterwards the patch Ubisoft was suppose to release 2 weeks earlier was finally released, which also turns off these enhanced graphics. Modders work around this issue again, enabling effects.
 
...So Ubisoft didn't quite deliver to the PC gamer's expectation from E3, turns out the PC version was mainly a PS4 port. They lied a few times, and again, even after the fact about what the hidden code does, which it does well according to reports despite what Ubisoft has said. No apology has been given by Ubisoft, at all.
 
Now Ubisoft has made the effort to state wherever possible that they are not downgrading the PC version of their upcoming games. Despite prior speculation of downgrading of Far Cry 4 and The Division. To be clear downgrading is a normal thing for development, to match the exact specification of a console's hardware. For PC it is done for the variety of hardware configuration and power, which can be a lot compared to the consoles. It's all done for optimization of hardware. Generally pushing the hardware's abilities of each platform, PC having the most raw power and potential. 
 
Ubisoft clearly did not optimize for the PC, either by intent or by other reasons. One reason that sounds logical, yet very wrong is that Ubisoft downgraded the PC version to boost new gen console sales. Why? Because nex gen consoles can't compete with a finely tuned high end gaming PC and this disparity will increase as time goes on. Consoles don't get upgrades hardware, on PCs can achieve that. The only others that would stand to gain a profit is Microsoft and Sony, perhaps they paid or pushed Ubisoft into this, but who knows, they certainly won't say.
 
I hope that Ubisoft and other companies stop treating us like children, it's disrespectful and just plain wrong. After this backlash they might have to change their approach to the PC market.

It's not fun at all. For every hilarious crash video you see on the youtubes, there is an extensive amount of time required in designing and planning and mathing, none of which are entertaining if you're looking for a video game.

I won a copy off Carlton's stream, then spent about 15 hours making a tube that never got more than a few feet off the ground. Only get KSP if you are seriously interested in spending ample time looking at the same screen while playing with virtual K'nex. You aren't going to pick this up and be gallivanting in space until you have played for a long long time. I know many people love KSP and I have friends who have invested hundreds of hours, but I think it gets a little too much hype and publicity due to the cutesy yet pointless characters and those 30 second youtube disaster clips.

I'm newer to pc gaming so don't have a ton of games on steam and looking to bolster my library with some good stuff. I'm not just buying games cause they are cheap either. Only buying ones I want to actually play.

I hope so too. I'd love to have access to some of the better console franchises. I'd also like to get the most performance I can out of my system specs instead of playing gimped console ports.

Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. It's like there's an industry-wide conspiracy to protect their console cash cows. After all, they can't have the average Joe asking certain questions. "Why does my supposedly cutting edge, next gen system only look as good as what a mid-range computer can produce?" would probably not be an easy question for them to answer or ignore.

I'll jump onboard the ubisoft hate-train and say that Assassin's Creed 3 was crashing every 7 or 8 minutes on my PC today.  I gave up on it for now.

Ubisoft's games are a lot more tolerable when you skip most of them and only pick up a select few when the GOTY edition is on sale for $5-10. Try it...you'll probably even start liking Assassin's Creed again now that you only play every 4th one. O:)

I'm sure some of you do. But I see many people on here buying a game just because it's cheap or just to get cards out of or for a number of other reasons then really actually play them and enjoy them.

Your mileage may vary on that one. I downloaded the mod and it quickly locked up my game. I suspect the nicely rendered fire escape shadow I froze under was a bit too much for my system to handle. Which, in turn, makes me think that "performs better" applies only to a select top percentage of systems. For everyone else, there's no benefit (and obvious potential downsides) to all the extra bells and whistles.

I'm not defending Ubi's decision to not include those features in the game for the cutting edge users who want the best possible experience from their $2,000 rig or any "downgrade to make Sony/MS happy" shenanigans. I'm just saying that the whole controversy doesn't apply to what I assume would be the majority of players.

For what it's worth, I have an i7-860 OC'd at 3.60 GHz, Radeon 7950 3GB card and 12 GB memory. So not a junk system but not top of the line either. Plays well on High and looks nice enough for what I'd expect from my box. Just chokes on the mod.

If he wants to be deeply disappointed in a space "game" that looks fun on paper (and in screen shots) and is horribly tedious in practice, Universe Sandbox is only five bucks!
