It's not really necessary. I owned the first one and played the 2nd. It's more about the gameplay than story so you won't really be missing anything

Can I buy two copies of the same game and leave in my inventory as two separate keys? Considering of getting another L4D2 to gift/trade later.

You can buy items and leave them unopened in your inventory but 4 packs you can not buy if you own the game. The first copy goes to you and 3 in inventory.

Oh I see, good thing I haven't switched my copy of L4D2 to my library yet. So I can host one?

With my original copy in the inventory, and if I were to purchase the bundle I'll have one L4D2 in the library and 4 total in inventory (1 original + 3 from bundle)? If so, I don't mind hosting.
