I bought Dead Island GotY on behalf of Qaari from GMG, but they gave us a damned region locked key (he's in the UK, I'm in the states).

So, is there perhaps someone needing a US key that can get a UK key that we could do a swap with? I'm open to other ideas, too. I haven't asked, but am assuming Qaari doesn't wanna mess with VPN activations and whatnot.

Also, I've got a -85% off coupon for Serious Sam BFE edition that I'll happily hand off to anyone that can help fix this mess. Ain't much, but it's got a lotta love in it. ;)

That's interesting. GMG is based in UK I believe.

Yeah, I just checked Gamefly and it looks like it -> "This title is available for purchase in United States, Canada, and Mexico." The key I got from Amazon looks to be region locked, too -> "Dead Island GOTY (NA)"

I was very surprised by this, too. Since I buy from them and am in the US, the idea of region restrictions never even occurred to me before.

Just to add to what CthulhuSaves has said and what sittinghawk3 already pointed out, I thought the key would work fine too as GMG are UK based but if anyone can help it'd be really appreciated. I don't have much in my Steam inventory but if you play TF2 then I'd be happy to give you a decent in-game item for your trouble at the very least (I have nearly 1200 items in my TF2 bp so I'm sure there'll be something you will like if you do play TF2).


UPDATE: I actually have a Sniper Ghost Warrior Gold including 2 DLCs Steam Gift that I'm happy to give to anyone who can help. I got it for my brother but I'm more than happy to give it to any member that can help me and CthulhuSaves out in this unfortunate situation.

I was about to post a warning yesterday when the first CAG asked for help about cross-regions risk with Dead Island GOTY from GMG because Steam keys for this game are NA locked if bought from GMG's US store. Unfortunately I had something that came up and didn't do it :cry:

I had the same problem with a Dead Island 4-pack from Gamersgate. I simply contacted their support and they took away one of my US keys and replaced it with two (!) UK keys. GMG should surely be able to do the same..?
