All the maps from the original have been ported at this point, making the main differences mostly aesthetic (better survival horror tone, legs, feels more polished), gameplay differences and the difficulty is a bit higher. Aside from the smaller amount of content at this point (since all original maps have been ported) and some of the positive touches in the sequel (opinions differ), the original's considered a better game by most people.

I think they never ported the lighthouse survival map to L4D2, but someone may have created a Workshop version. I'd argue that the gameplay differences are more significant: half the special infected, no melee. The biggest difference for me, and why I uninstalled L4D1, was the mp community, which was always pretty nasty by the time the sequel came out, filtered down to the really hardcore players. By this point it's probably just pros challenging themselves to 1v1fogl.

Are you guys saying the 1st or 2nd LFD has a better survival tone, higher difficulty and half the special infected? If the 1st one is more difficult and has a better atmosphere I may want to try it.
