Steam: Trine $5

quick question what is the normal play time for the game?
Normal( not easy mode or expert mode, and enjoying the game not speed running or the flip of the coin and looking for every chest, bonus...)

well not exactly what you're asking.. but I beat it in 5 hours, and kind of speed running, I hit most chests that I could see/find. Just to get an idea I suppose.

Do I need an end game save to get access to the DLC? I deleted this stuff.. but I do have the completed achievement.. also didn't have cloud when I bought it during holiday sale and beat it.

Didn't even think about it. Went straight to cart and bought it.

I've passed this on the first few sales. Not letting it go by this time.

10-12 hours. This is what I see when I look at friends in Steam (using the beta interface) who have bought and played it. Took me about 12 at a leisurely pace.

It's an OK game. Fun for a while. I was ready for it to be done after about 5 hours, but I don't like to leave games unfinished so I did a chapter each night 'til I was done. I thought the final level was spectacularly bad, where you had to make an insane number of difficult leaps and maneuvers while the level was being destroyed behind you, and if you fail, start over 5 minutes back. UGH, it reeks of manufactured difficulty.

I turned the difficulty down to "easy" after 3 tries because it was less about solving the puzzles and more about twitchy timing with your jumps. There are some neat puzzles in the other levels though.

$5 is a good price for this game. It's far from perfect but it is very pretty, fun for a while, and I like to support small games on principle.

I've clocked in 8 hours with the game, which I would say includes between 1 to 2 hours of replaying stuff, so I'd say I beat it in 6 to 7. Definitely a fun platformer, and I would completely recommend it at this price, as I loved it.

gcorlett - have to agree with you on this. I just plowed through it on easy mode and was glad to be done with it. but having gotten 5 hours on a $5 purchase i was happy with that. haha

Did they ever fix the demo to work properly with Xbox 360 gamepads. I tried the demo last time it was on sale and it was so miserably unfun to play with m+kb, I had to pass even for only $5. It was simply unplayable; even if it was free, I wouldn't have wasted my time.

thanks for the heads up!

*edit* downloading demo now. I didn't even look at the specs. even though my system is 2.5 yrs old, if anything can't run on it, I'd be surprised.

Yeah, I'm really interested in this for $5, but fairly certain none of my slow-arse PCs can run this game. Trying out the demo.

Just picked up Trine and really enjoyed the first two levels. I had considered this on the PS3, but I'm glad I waited. Works great with the 360 controller as well.

Anyone want to get me a gift copy of Trine while it's on sale? I have a Madballs Steam Serial#, or a lot of XBLA stuff to trade (Jetpac Refuelled, RE5: Lost in Nightmares, etc.)

Send me a PM if you are interested.

Played about 2 hours of this so far tonight. It's gorgeous and the mechanics of each character are fun as hell.

Oh, and, keyboard_mouse all the way. Don't need a damn controller with less accuracy.

Don't know about the demo but I had a heck of a time getting the controls mapped properly in the full game. Once I did it worked fine. It was mostly trial and error (more error than trial actually) and the settings were confusing as fuck.
