The excellent first-person survival horror Penumbra games are 75% off on Steam this weekend.

The first game, Penumbra: Overture, is just $2.50. The sequel, Penumbra Black Plague (which also includes the third episode, Requiem, is $3.75. Both games are available together for a mere $5.

I like the games a lot, but they're not for everyone, so if anyone wants to try them before dropping a fiver, here's the demos:
Bought it even though I didn't even manage to open the hatch in the BP demo. I broke the ice but couldn't turn the handle for some reason.
Yea, I noticed some of the controls are very picky as to how you need to perform them. If you can't open something, try it from a different angle or try walking as your moving the object too. In the case of the hatch, you need to turn the wheel clockwise to unlock it and then lift the hatch up.
Didn't even know such an application existed - thanks!

Any problems in using this to control the game with a (wired) 360 controller?

( I know real men use ASCII, but I'll take a 360 controller anyday... ;)
The only problems I've encountered is setup isn't as easy as it should be, but once you know what the buttons are it's not that bad and for some reason in this game it's not as smooth as it should be, at least for me, but it's nothing that would stop me from playing it this way. Here's a list of 360 buttons, etc. ...

AxisX(0)=Left Stick Right
AxisY(0)=Left Stick Down

Axis3(0)=Left Trigger

Axis4(0)=Right Stick Right
Axis5(0)=Right Stick Down

POV1:UP=D-pad Up
POV1:RIGHT=D-pad Right
POV1:DOWN=D-pad Down
POV1:LEFT=D-pad Left

Button1:=A
Button2:=B
Button3:=X
Button4:=Y
Button5:=LB
Button6:=RB
Button7:=BACK
Button8:=START
Button9:=Left Stick Button
Button10:=Right Stick Button

In order to get more axis's than X&Y and the POV/D-pad to work you have to enable them on the Preferences tab, check Use Axes ... and Use POV ...

Ok, I'm also using XBCD360v025, for rumble support (not in Penumbra), so I'm not sure if everything will match with your setup but it's worth a try.

Here's my setup at the moment, if you want to try it just copy the red text and save it in notepad as Penumbra.cfg in your JoyToKey folder. If you don't see it when you start up JoyToKey make sure notepad didn't name it Penumbra.cfg.txt, if it did just rename it correctly.

Good Luck with it ... and yes real men do use 360 controllers

Another note is to press R, which then allows you to move the cursor anywhere onscreen and manipulate as such. Makes turning things much easier.

Last few hours for the deal.

That, my friend, was an awesome post.

Thanks for all the info! Will give it a shot.
