If any of you are planning on getting the Xbox version of Still Life, get it now at Gamestop.com before they possibly change the price. It's listed as $19.99 instead of $29.99. I just preordered my copy for a total of $21.98. If they fix the price you should get the lower amount. Still Life is being released on April 14 for PC and Xbox, and retails for $29.99.

Thanks Legolas, I wanted this game but wouldn't pull the trigger at $30. At $20, I grabbed it. Thanks again!

Any idea how this game is going to be? Or what it will be similar too?

Not only am I a sheep ass gamer, but I'm a lazy ass gamer too.

It's $19.99 at EBGames.com as well. It says $29.99 at the link below, but add it to your cart and it's $19.99.

https://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/256096.asp

Admittedly, it's rather strange that the PC version is higher than the console version, since PC releases don't have licensing fees. I'd expect either the PC version to drop to $19.99 as well, or possibly the XB version to rise to $29.99. So yeah, this might not be a bad time to pre-order, just in case. And you can always cancel if $19.99 looks like the MSRP as the release approaches, and then get it for $15 at BB after GGC.

There's a demo for the PC version if you want to check it out before ordering.
Nope, it is 29.99 at Ebgames when I just clicked on the link.
Add it to your cart. Like he said, it will appear as $20 at checkout.

I just got my order in this morning. Total with shipping and tax was $23.62.

Thanks for post this deal. I had my eye on this game ever since I heard about it. I hope that it is a sleeper hit, but the lack of pub and press on this game kind of scares me. I thought the same way about CSI for XBox and that game was a big disappointment b/c of all the bugs.

Quick synopsis: A detective tracks a serial killer through Chicago and uses forensics tools (ala CSI) to solve the case. Apparently has more of an action/adventure/point&click gameplay interface.

Legolas813, I'd trust anything posted by someone with an avatar like that. Ordered, with FREESHIPALL.

what about Obscure for PS2?...release date 4/4/5 and its $19.99 as well...by the same developer: DreamCatcher...and its another horror game

Dreamcatcher's the publisher. They publish adventure games in the US, often under the name The Adventure Company, when no one else will. They brought us such games as Broken Sword 3 and Syberia.

Obscure is a by-the-book survival horror game, with the key difference that it's got multiple characters at once (like RE0)... but there's FIVE of them. You switch between them at will, and your buddy can control another with controller two. I'm getting it.

developer/publisher/blah blah...i just play games ;)

at that price, it sounds cool though...so ill be picking it up...its just a matter of either preordering now through GS or waiting to see if BB gets them in so i can GGC it

Still life is an adventure game, I think. It got a really low score in a recent magazine, though. I think they said it was an interesting story, but was plagued with clunky interface and controls.

Obscure is a horror game, and was released in Europe a couple months ago and supposedly sold really well.

Still Life is an ADVENTURE game. The game was developed by Microids, the same people who made the Syberia series. If all you ever play is first-person shooters or extreme action games, do NOT get this game because it is not for you.

If you want to read a preview of Still Life, read the February issue of The Inventory. If you want to play a PC demo of the game, go here. Please note that this is a very mature game and not for kids.

Yeah, it's pure adventure. I was puzzling over the concept of action/adventure/point-and-click myself, and then I realized, wait a minute... all of the Clock Towers before CT3 fit that perfectly.

I plan to pick up this game on XBOX (its also $19.99 @ Gamestop), but I'm incredibly pissed that it even exists.
I took a game design class last spring and I came up with the EXACT SAME IDEA!
"A survival horror game featuring multiple characters and endings, set in a high school overrun by demons and other creatures."
I still have the fucking design document if anyone doesn't believe me. ARGH!

At least its a budget title so whoever nabbed my idea won't get TOO rich off it ;)

If you have the fucking design document, go fucking sue them, since it's your fucking idea, as you claim. Ubisoft, since Microids seems have been assimilated by them.

I'm assuming he didn't trademark the idea... That would be a costly process without any signed publishing house. I took a game course and came up with an idea where you punch a squirrel head repeatedly with boxing gloves... no one took my idea and made an Ubi game out of it :(

Wow! So original I dont know who could come up with that idea without having lifted it from someone else!

Obscure looks pretty cool, I never even heard about it before seeing you guys discuss it. Thanks to whoever originally posted about Obscure.

On a side note I was reading the review of this game on gamespy to get an idea of which system I should buy this for. In the review they mentioned that the game was originally made for the PS2 so the graphics are almost completely indentical, and that the PS2 version offers mono/stereo/dobly pro-logic, while for some stupid reason the xbox version only has mono/stereo. Why they didn't include Dolby 5.1 or whatever for xbox is beyond me.
Looks like I'll be getting the PS2 version. This may not matter to everyone however considering not everybody uses a surround sound system.

Back on topic, EBGames AND Gamestop both now have the Xbox version as $19.99. The PC version is still the retail price of $29.99. Also, EBGames has changed the PC release date to May 2 for some reason, while the Xbox version on both sites are still scheduled for the April 14 release.

Good point. I actually just checked out the reviews myself and I plan to get the PS2 version now also (mainly for the Dolby 5.1).

And wtf is with everyone spilling the Haterade on me for complaining about having one of my ideas made into a game? I'm not going to sue anyone or anything, I'm not that upset and/or crazy. I understand that millions of people come up with the same ideas everyday, but only the person who can afford to create and sell the product in question gets recognized. I just take this one instance a bit more personally because everyone in the class I designed the game for really dug the idea so I was especially proud of it. I plan to get into either the movie or gaming industry in the next few years (seeing how I'm graduating college in June), so I get a little concerned when I see what I consider my own creative ideas being made and profited from so soon after I conceptualize them. I'm sorry if that offends anyone (which it apparently does, from some of the rude comments seen above), but the thought of having all my creative ideas tapped out before I have the chance to create them myself bothers me. Oh and about my "fucking design document", I only brought that up to re-iterate the point that I actually did put time and effort into the concept, it wasn't something like "Hey, lets make another GTA, but this time in CHICAGO!". I thought it was a cool, and somewhat original spin on the Survival Horror genre and in a way, I'm glad that it has been turned into a game, because it shows that I DID have a decent idea. Sorry to rant on this thread.

Btw, Still Life looks great and I can't wait to play it!

I thought I'd mention that if you are trying to decide between the PC or Xbox version of Still Life, I would recommend the Xbox version. Not only is it cheaper, but it doesn't have StarForce 3 on it, like the PC version is going to have.

Gameboy415 you know that the game has been in development for over 1.5 years since the published date of september 2004 (I conceptualized/designed/produced VGs for NuFX/EA Chicago in case you were wondering how i came up with that number, besides you can see it in their website ^_^). But you said that you designed this last spring... I dunno but to me I think that they conceptualized this game way before you even thought of it. I think that ppl are hating because of the way that you said it, making it sound like the company is making money off of YOUR IDEA. Doesnt it occur to you that ppl can have the same idea at the same time. hmmm... As far as i'm concerned you just put that statement in to boast. And nobody likes ppl who toot their own horn. Just my .02 (hopefully I'm wrong and if you are interested in a job in the industry i can help you out by pointing you to the right ppl or just showing you what they look for in a portfolio if you are interested. Because I used to review those too ^_^)

I just watched a preview of this game on X-Play last night and it looks and sounds awesome. I never even heard anything about this game till I read this thread yesterday and then saw the thing on tv about it. I can't wait to play it now. Thanks OP for bringing this game to my attention.

I agree the game sounds great, and hope it is, but Game Informer magazine said it was "terrible" and gave it a 5.5 out of 10. It wasn't a long review, just basically said the game play was frustrating and the presentation really poor despite the cool premise.

Did you actually read his response? He specifically said that he does realize that.

Gameboy415, I get what you're saying. Happens to me all the time. I know nobody is stealing from me or anything. It's just the curse of having more ideas than time and resources. :)
