So, the last game I played on computer without any issues was... No One Lives Forever (love that game!). And that was when my old PC was fairly new. The only time I was able to actually play any new game is if my bro was nice enough to bring his computer over. But with my new computer getting ready, I will probably go on a PC gaming marathon.

So, I need PC game recommendations. My two favorite PC games of all time are easily HL and HL2, also No One Lives Forever, Unreal Tournament, Oni and that's pretty much it. I really didn't get to experience much PC gaming.

There was another game I played and didn't like (get ready Diablo fans) and that was Diablo II. I really didn't like it. It was damn addicting for the first chapter but after that it became a chore to clear hoards of enemies every time you picked up from a save (even if you destroyed all those enemy re-spawning thingys). Also played many of the C&C games but just wasn't very good at them.

Yeah, my computer really sucked.

I'm definitely getting FEAR, HL2 Episode 1, and SiN (b/c it uses the HL2 engine). I'm mainly looking for FPSes and maybe adventure type games. Also, I'd like some games more mature in these, either serious (Indigo Prophecy) or not (like Leisure Suit Larry), b/c that's just how I see computer games in general- something for the older audience. Anything from the past 5 or 6 years will do and future recommendations are welcome. But I'm open to nearly anything.

My specs, though not yet finalized, should be something like this at the least:
WinXP
AMD Athlon 3200+ (2.0GHz)
2GB DDR800 Ram
eVGA 256 bit 7600GT w/ 256MB memory
Raptop HD (reserved solely for OS/APPs and games)

:)

In addition to the "definites" you listed:

-Doom 3
-Quake 4
-Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (it'll play great if you bump down to 1024x768)
-Republic Commando
-Call of Duty
-Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
-Jedi Outcast
-Jedi Academy
-Return to Castle Wolfenstein
-Knights of the Old Republic
-Grand Theft Auto III games
-Freespace 2
-Serious Sam & Serious Sam 2nd Encounter
-Giants: Citizen Kabuto (most underrated FPS ever)

Some suggestions based on your like of adventure and FPS games ( and some other I like, if you haven't played them already):

Far Cry
Condemned
Brothers in Arms (both of them)
Swat 4
Still Life
Nibiru
Undying
Syberia 1 & 2
Broken Sword the Sleeping Dragon
Galatic Civilizations 2
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Deus Ex Invisible War
Age of Empires 3
Rome Total War

Hm... yes, good suggestions. I've played a couple of those games on consoles (or on my bro's PC) but still plenty of good games.

Ah yes - Deux Ex is very good.

I've got plenty to recommend. Big FPS fan since original Wolf3D. So yell if you want more suggestions.

- The Splinter Cell series
- Riddick
- Call of Duty 2
- Deus Ex (Strong contender for best PC game ever)
- Heavy Metal FAKK 2 (Nobody's prolly heard of it... but try it out, it's an awesome action game)
- Divine Divinity (Stupid-ass name. But it's what Diablo 2 should've been... *runs away*)
- Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War (Felt like a faster, more entertaining Warcraft III)
- Far Cry (I personally thought that this was better than HL2 by a mile.

See, with PC games, I'm pretty negative. I've played a lot of games but I haven't actually wanted to hang onto that many... but these are definitely the cream of the crop (along with FEAR and Oblivion.)

Allright, I have to tell you this...

Little Big Adventure 2: Twinsen's Odyssey is an amazing game, hands down. I've played the first one back in Russia (that means I just turned 13 when I had to stop), and I've obtained both LBA1 and LBA2, and unless you're a serious graphics snob that doesn't appreciate beauty that is a little more pizelated than what current consoles have to offer, you need to play it.

Also, I saw someone recommending Syberia, but I was grossly dissapointed with both of them (despite the fact that the cutscenes were beautiful, the story wasn't half bad, and the environments were gorgeous). To me, an adventure game is where you can look at everything, touch almost everything and interact with the world that includes items other than those that you immediately need. To make my long point short, I highly recommend The Longest Journey because it ownz Syberia stuff completely in every possible regard.

Broken Sword I: The Shadow of the Templars is also like Wu-Tang (ain't nuthin' to WHAT?) so I highly recommend you playing through it, unless you are allergic to great humor, gorgeous 2D animation, and a story that will make you lose sleep. Also, the dialogue is near perfect, and the game overall is one of my personal favorites.

If you want to go WAY BACK, get ahold of Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist but keep in mind that 640x480 VGA may annoy you (unless you're playing it in DosBox that is not full-screen, because then it looks delicious). Also bare in mind that it's a COWBOY adventure from the demented mind of Al Lowe (Leisure Suit Larry creator), so expect things like the great stampede... of snails, and other things that I would rather not spoil for you.

Also, from what I've seen, your PC can fully support the genius that is Psychonauts, an all-around celebration of video-game excellence.
