Storage Solution GET!!
From what I've seen, the Wii treats existing channels as just that - existing channels.

The way it was phrased somewhere else was that the method used to enable the channel is what Nintendo guns for - not the channel itself. So once it is there, updates like this seem to ignore it. True, new firmware could break it, but it seems this one doesn't.

I.e., like on The Office when Kevin said he can't bring beer to work, but there's no rule about brewing it there.

Think of this as a loophole.

I think I did read, however, that if you are planning such things and haven't done the method yet, this will close that entry down.

Make sense?
Very much so. Thanks.

Guess I'll start that up before heading to bed.

Has anyone had some issues with channels on the SD card? I was trying to test a couple of VC titles, and couldn't get some of them to work. Kirby's Dreamland 3 refused to copy over from the SD to the Wii. In addition both Cubello and Space Invaders Get Even show up as ?'s as the channel icon, and refuse to launch off the SD card as well.
Does it give any messages/warnings, or does it simply not work?

I'd try deleting what you have and then downloading directly to the SD card and trying again.

There's bound to be hiccups that may or may not be ironed out within the next few weeks.

Awesome. I can finally spend my points without worrying about running out of space and/or dealing with the file swapping.

Why couldn't Nintendo have this from the start? Why did this take so long for them to do?

Anyway, its nice to see Nintendo finally address the problem without forcing users to buy an expensive add on device.

Does anyone know if faster SDHC cards make a difference on the Wii? I.e. should I spend the extra bucks for a class 6 card, or would a class 2 work just as fast?

My SD card works well for me. It doesn't take much time for the menu to load (5-7 seconds?)..and a short time for the games to play..(again, 5-7 seconds?)

I guess if saving a few seconds is worth it, go ahead  I guess I am just thrilled to not have to swap things in and out..delete, re-download..etc.

I hate waiting. :) Plus, hopefully they will start releasing bigger games now/raise the cap. Also, I'm hoping we start to see games taking advantage of all that storage space by offering more substantial downloadable content. And game patches! Please!

Unfortunately, the message is somewhat vague with something like, "Unable to load channel."

I already deleted and re-downloaded the problem channels, and the exact same issues arose, so I wanted to check and see if anyone else was having specific problems with those channels before before I try another avenue.

I don't really think so, because games still need to be copied over to internal memory before they can be run.

Oh my... Well Nintendo, you should congratulate yourselves, you may have just replaced giant enemy crabs with maximum damageable weak points for cheap internet comedy.
time to re-download stuff I forgot I even bought so long ago
Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue here I come!

I've been sending long-deleted VC games to the SD card all night. I still can't believe I downloaded Elevator Action. Nostalgia goggles for the loss.

Hmm. I always enjoyed Elevator Action. They should make a WiiWare lightgun update/remake of Elevator Action.

I liked the Elevator Action arcade game, but I don't think I ever played the NES version. Is the NES version good? Maybe they'll release the arcade version now, though.
