Stranglehold - Gen Discussio & Info

Well yes, but I thought it was delayed to the 16th. Not the 26th.

Oh well, thanks for clearing it up. The guy even said original came out before...which was weird.

I could handle a few weeks, but now another month of waiting just seems like too long to wait with some great games coming in the next month or so. It's a shame that it's being pushed back again, but I may still just get it for the collector's edition.

Although, to be honest...I need to save up some money, and with Halo 3/FIFA 08 before it, theres VERY little chance I will play it to the max...
 
Kind of stupid question, but can you put the dialogue in Chinese with English subtitles, because it was just weird watching the cutscenes in the demo in English.
 
I've lost all interest in this title, especially because of the "delays". I predict $39.99 on the 360 by December (if it even takes that long).
 
this just makes no sense, the PS3 is constantly getting screwed. Thankfully my 360 is back from repairs so I can just play the 360 version. The PS3 version better rock serious balls with all of the delays. it better be the hands down best version

IMO, the only thing keeping it alive on PS3 is Hard Boiled CE...

game plus movie, makes the package worth waiting for. I was so ready to pick this game up. Had my damn calendar marked.
 
I thought it came out today so I went to the store to get it. Found out it got pushed. O well Folklore comes out in 2 weeks and DiRT,WH, and HS should keep me busy until then.

I'm gonna say no, because as far as I can tell, there's not an option to even turn on subtitles (360 version), which is a shame because I usually turn them on.
 
That's fine with me because once I have Halo 3 on Tuesday I will probably not play anything else for a while so this will be a nice change once it hits.
 
Lol wow I am glad I went ahead and got the CE for the 360. No it doesn't have the movie but I am not getting the game to watch a movie. fucking ridiculous at so many games getting delayed on the PS3. Well back to Stranglehold... :lol:

This is becoming ridiculous. Where the hell is the competition? Are the developers really that unconfident with their games that they just push them back so that Halo 3's hype dies down while the games come out?


If this game was prepared, it would still come out on the 25th. Developers need to get some balls and fight back Halo 3 with something that will make everyone go wow. So much for competition...
 
Meh. After playing the demo and seeing that there is going to be an actual BD release of Hard Boiled soon my money is probably bettery spent elsewhere.

I guess I'll move my pre-order over to MGO.

Well I would figure they would release it on BD seeing as how they already went through the trouble of making it a hi-def transfer for the Collector's Edition.

Kinda sucks it got pushed back, I was looking forward to adding it to the PS3 library :/

Why all the friggin' delays with all these games?!?!?
 
Not getting it if it is. Ratchet comes out at the end of October as well and there is no way I would get Stranglehold over Ratchet.

Now if it somehow comes out at the end of this month still I may get it, if not fuck it, I'll get it when it's has a few price drops.
 
Ive been trying to keep my preorder on this game but I dont think I can justify it...even if it is CE.


Although maybe getting FIFA 08 for like 15 bucks out of pocket may make it worth it....idk...

I'll think about it sometime in 2008 since there is more than enough stuff to last me the rest of the year.

They pretty much screwed themselves over by delaying it this much, I hope they don't take into account how poorly it will probably sell and think the PS3 isn't worth putting games on.
 
After I went to gamestop the other day and looked at the preorder box for the CE, I decided I was still getting it.


The movie included and everything...And if it is that bad/short, Ill trade it here or something.

After picking up Strangehold Collector's Edition yesterday, I finally got some playtime today. Is anyone else seeing a lot of bugs. Right when the first two enemies show up on top of the short stairs, I dove and somehow ended up underneath the level. Then I restarted and got about ten minutes further until for no reason it froze. At that point I got frustrated and gave up. I think I might wait for a patch. I knew they were having problems with the engine but I didn't think it would be this bad.

Is anyone else experiencing these problems?
 
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but howcome I can't find a single review of Hard Boiled on bluray that's included in this Collector's Edition?

Or am I missing something?
 
It looks more like an upscaled dvd for the most part. There's a few scenes where it looks 1080p'ish with great color. But that's only for a few scenes. Anyways, I had the same freezing problem and stuff as well. That's why I sold it on eBay.
 
Hmm...I have a 5 dollar deposit and its still sitting at Gamestop. Once I get it I wont be able to decide If i want to keep it or not
 
Got my copy in the mail on Wednesday, and ran into a strange freeze/bug in the first level. About the half-way point, I ran thru a breakable door into a room and came out the door on the other side into an alley. I played thru the 360 demo 5-6 times when it first came out on XBLM and don't recall this area at all. When I got about two-thirds of the way down the alley the screen froze, but the audio kicked into a cutscene with guys on motorcycles and a shootout. It lasted for awhile and when it ended the game and controller were still frozen. I had to restart my PS3 to get anything to happen.

I was a bit pissed, and wondered if the often delayed PS3 version was still screwed up. I took out Stranglehold and went back to work on leveling up my Omega weapons in R&CF: ToD in challenge mode. I put Stranglehold this evening after work and haven't had anymore problems. I'm starting level 3 and I'm hoping I don't encounter anymore issues.

Thing is that I can get any regular priced games free off the freebie sites (but this isnt the place for that).

Since Stranglehold CE is 70 i cant. Idk if I should bite...
 
It's an excellent game, but you'll beat it in a matter of 6-8 hours. I certainly can't justify the $70 price tag. I'll probably wait until it drops to $20-$30 before I even think about picking it up.

I've seen tons of copies everywhere which is what has gotten me to hold off on it. If it does become rare oh well, but I highly highly doubt it.
 
I bought it in large part because of the included movie. I love Hard Bolied and to me 70 seemed like a fair deal for a movie I love and a game whose demo (on the 360) I enjoyed. It just sucks the game is so buggy at this point. I'm praying they patch it.
Anyway, right now I would definitely say that it's not worth $70 .

It's just an upscaled version of the Dragon Dynasty edition that was released earlier this year. I'm no expert but it didn't look significantly sharper or anything.
