Saw this today when I went to get the DoA 4 stick... I've waited for a price drop on this FOREVER, this is the perfect price.

Picked up the last one in Port Richey, remember this stick was an EB exclusive.

If you really want quality/competition sticks, I would definitly import a Hori one from Japan, they're better than the Tekken 5 one that came out in the states.
Standard Japanese Hori sticks are the same as US ones. There is no difference between a US T5 stick and a Japanese T5 stick. The X360 DOA4 stick is part of the standard line.

Hori makes a premium line in Japan called "Real Arcade Pro" that uses real (Japanese) arcade parts (usually). These cost 2-3 times as much as there standard ones but are of much higher quality. All Japanese-made sticks use a square gate.

You're wrong on the first part of your post. There was a major difference between the US T5 stick and the Japanese T5 stick. The Japanese stick had an actual Sanwa joystick in it. The US stick has a chinese clone. US players were quite angry that Hori substituted inferior parts into our version because they thought we wouldn't notice or something...

I thought actual Sanwa parts were only used in the RAP series. My mistake, then.

I don't think it's that "we wouldn't notice." I think the average Japanese fighting game fan is willing to pay more and buy more quality joysticks versus a market where these things sit on shelves until they get clearanced out at $30.

Are the Jap DOA4 stick different from the US one?

I don't know for sure but I doubt it. The DOA4 case is too short vertically to allow a stock JLF or JLW to fit in there without some case modding.

I was checking out arcadestickmonk.com without the soldering and all that modding the SF stick does it really sound that easy eh? My friend had one and I was asking me on any tips to modding. I'm afraid I might screw something up if I try to mod it.

I checked one EB and one GS for the SFII stick. No luck. I guess I'm gonna keep the Tekken one and get also the DOA4 one. Damn I just saw it on eBay sold for $135 :cold:!

Which stick sold for $135? For $135, I better be getting a top of the line, built from scratch stick with unique artwork. Like a Dreaded Fist stick or something. Otherwise, that's just too much for a stick
yup the DOA 4 stick goes for that much. It's 39.99 at EB/GS though
Good luck finding one. I asked one GS associate and he went to the used games drawer . The other guy told me that they didn't have one and to check the internet/eBay :bomb:.

I just got one yesterday, the box was a mess but for $30 i'm not complaining. But it don't work with my playstation, It works fine with my xbox and my friends playstation. I dont know if I should keep it, return it or get a new playstation. Anyone else have this problem?

Got mine, the box was slightly open on one side, otherwise it was mint. Finally I have a decent stick to play some KOF 03 with.
God damnit.. everybody is finding these. I guess I have to do some actual searching.

Is this at gamestop also or just ebgames?
It's just EB Games... the stick was an EB exclusive that only EB received (this was before the merger).

There are about 6 of these at my local EB. They are all in the boxed. Even the boxes look pristine. They are still tagged at $49 and $59 though. Will they scan for $29?

I know this is a bit OT, but why does the DOA 4 stick go for so much? Is it because there's demand or is it really good? Combination of both?

They will ring up the 29.99 .

If somebody will pick one up for me, I'll buy it for $45 shipped.

SF 2 just came out for the 360, and the DOA stick is the only availible stick for the 360.

The DOA 4 goes for alot for some reason. It would be great if someone can grab a few for a CAG in need instead of hoarding them all and selling all off for profit. I'm looking for a DOA 4 one....

My local EB has the Tekken stick but it comes with the game and I already have it. Is it worth $70? I should return the SF stick and get the Tekken one.

I have the tekken stick. I don't like it, way too much "play" in the joystick. I want to swap it out with Happ parts. Not worth the $70 IMHO.

I picked up a SF 15th anniversy stick and a DOA 4 Xbox 360 stick today. These are for sale if anyone is interested. If not, I'll ebay the DOA 4 stick and return the SF stick.

Be warned, the SF stick would cost a lot to ship since it weighs a ton.

Hey, my Happ order shipped today... Check this out.

SF 2 stick from EB: $32

Happ Competition Stick $13.95
16 Competition buttons $16.30
Pushbutton Wrench $2.50
Sales Tax $4.39 - Edit: Apparently they do have an office in TX, so this is legit. But it still sucks. :)
UPS 3-day shipping: $20.47 Ouch!!! No shipping cost shown before placing the order.

Happ total: $57.61

Grand total for an arcade-quality SF 2 stick: $89.61

Well, you get what you pay for, right?

Yep. Happ rapes you on shipping, and the price of that stick from the way things look. Thats why I always order through resellers like ponyboy at the BYOAC forums.

arg... I waited too long on this and the one I was gonna get got sold. I've called just about every store in the Sacramento/Bay Area (50 mile radius of Vallejo) and no luck...

I am so kicking my face right now.

Any word on the sticks anywhere else in CA?
I'm driving down to San Diego so I'm keeping my fingers crossed

When are you going to San Diego?

Can anyone offer wiring/technical advice for modding my SF 2 stick to work with both the original Xbox AND 360?

Edit: The forum at xbox-scene.com ended up being the answer to my prayers. If you want to see what I'm going through, check it out:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=544142

However, the mod is going to cost way more than I anticipated.
To get the SF 2 stick (or most any stick) to work with XBox AND 360, which use wildly different wiring schemes, I will need to buy several relays or switches. Basically, purchasing 7 relays and a PC board adds another $55 or so to my project.... Ouch, it's getting expensive.
$55 versus building another Happ-part filled stick still saves me some money though, as well as space.

Can anyone recommend another arcade stick that can be easily modified with Happ parts? The SF 2 and DOA 4 sticks are now scarce, but I'd like to make another in the future.

Thanks man. I did indeed post a thread there. It's mostly about the practice, but a small profit would be nice.
Sure. Modding will net you some money, but if you can build one from scratch you can make even more.
Yeah if you establish a reputation. You can't just start building sticks from scratch and expect to fetch top dollar for them. Just ask Finkle over at SRK. He makes some excellent sticks, but for the first few months he was making them no one wanted to buy them because if they were paying top dollar, they all wanted a DreadedFist stick instead.

That's true. I need to build up a rep. I will definitely make my own housing eventually, and it will be way different from what's already out there.
BTW, I modified my pricing to include Sanwa and Seimetsu sticks, for those who want the Japanese arcade experience.

Anyone try to mod it to be useable with the dreamcast? I think it might be easier to try and find a PS2->DC converter. I'd really like to use it on the DC for MvsC2.
