Street Fighter III: Third Strike

Just a quick question: Would it be more worthwhile waiting for the PS360 port that's due out next year or should I try to hunt down a Dreamcast copy. If the latter then what price range would I be looking at and where should I look?

You can get third strike on your computer using the capcom emulator and downloading the rom, it's less than 100mb. I also plugged in my TE fightstick and it worked

Is that legal? If not then no.

Third Strike for the Dreamcast is essentially a collector's item by now, it's gonna be expensive unless the seller doesn't know what he's selling (I'm guessing it would go for at least $30 bucks). If you're so morally appalled by emulators and any other practical way of getting a copy of the game, then just wait for the PSN/XBLA release.

I didn't know it was getting a PSN/XBLA release. It's always been one of the last games on the DC that I really wanted to get. (I don't think I ever played Third Strike.)

Guess I'll be waiting it out unless I find a cheap copy. (And I almost never see DC games in the wild anymore...)

There's also the option of Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection for the PS2 and Xbox; It's how I've been getting my parries in for the past few years. The Xbox version even had online support up until recently.

Also, any word on the rumors that the PSN/XBLA release won't be a straight port like MvC2 but rather an updated entry like HD Remix?

The PSN/XBLA port is being based on Version 990512 which is the preferred version of the game and the one compatible with GGPO. It's also the version they used on Anniversary Collection, although both versions of that had slight speed differences. This newest port should be arcade perfect. No word on if anything extra is being included, although I doubt we'll see anything drastic done to the graphics. Probably MVC2 style filters at best.

Get either the PS2/Xbox version or wait for the XBLA/PSN version (maybe the latter for the online play).

The Dreamcast version is the worst of all the home ports. It has added input lag and uses the later arcade revision as far as I know, which isn't the one people like as noted above.

Definitely snag a copy of Anniversary Collection for the PS2. It has not only an excellent version of Third Strike but a cool version of SF II as well.

Everyone's suggesting Anniversary Collection on PS2: One problem: That wasn't released over here in Europe, only Hyper Street Fighter 2. ^_^""

Get it for the Xbox then. Anniversary Collection was released for the Xbox in Europe and it includes Third Strike and Hyper Street Fighter II.

Don't even bother with the Dreamcast version. Like someone else said it's not arcade perfect, so there's no point in paying money on an inferior version of the game. I'd personally wait for the PS3/360 re-release. Since it's going to be digital download (I believe) it's probably only going to cost $15 (like MvC2), and it'll have online support.
