Street Fighter IV FightPad (360/PS3) B1G1 at Madcatz's Gameshark store.

SanjuroTsubaki

CAGiversary!
This looks like the first actual deal I have found to post on here. I have been looking for an extra FightPad for the 360 for upcoming Mega Man. On Madcatz website I found B1G1 free for the Comic Con version of the pad here,

http://store.gameshark.com/StreetFighterIV5

I also received free next day shipping for the cost of ground after completing the order using my PayPal.

10% off purchase. - On the link there is a newsletter signup where you can receive a 10% off coupon after confirming.

I've owned this pad before, it is the best dpad solution for the 360 currently and works on PC. Great for Pac Man CE.
what a fail. match that along w the fact that these can not be used to play ps2 games on the ps3 and they are a bit of a letdown
Yeah, I wanted to use it for 3rd Strike, but that didn't work out. It would be an easy patch for Sony too. What a shame.
To be fair you have much more variety on the PS3 in terms of dpad solutions. Sega Saturn USB pad easily rocks the party.
Indeed it does, but that doesn't change the fact that if the pad was wired. It would be much, much better. I have had two dongles fizz out on me after only 3 hours of use each. My fightpad is just sitting there now. My 60GB has 4 USB ports for a reason.
Are you SURE that you can't use two fightpads at once on the PS3? I am pretty sure I have done this before. I will test this as soon as I get a chance and report back.
Last time I tested it, you couldn't. They would just start connecting to each other. I would verify this again myself, but my dongles are busted.

Think I'll just cancel my order...

I have a HRAP EX-SE for my 360, I wanted these for PS3 since I really don't care for the DS3 dpad.

Everything I see here just makes me think I'd rather just keep my $40 and play on my DS3s...
I don't understand why everyone is convinced that playing on a fight stick is infinitely better than using a controller/fight pad. I mean, it might make things like backstepping/dashing easier on your hand than it is on your thumb, but I just don't see how it makes a player better. I get the feeling many people feel the way they do about it because they want to justify the time and money they invested in a fight stick.
Go play Street Fighter II on a dpad, then go play it on an arcade cabinet, then come back and play it on a dpad and tell me that again.

Probably a kid who has never seen a real arcade.. or an arcade machine, to know the joys of the proper controls.

It won't make you a better player, it just wont handicap you as much as a pad. Not sot much the stick, IMO, but the buttons. (I'm actually much better w/ a d-pad for fireball characters). Having immediate access to the buttons with all your fingers allows you much faster reaction time than using your thumb to move around. It's especially noticeable for some more advanced techniques and combos and when you need to hit one button almost simultaneously after another. For example I just learned how to FADC into supers/ultras in SFIV, and you gotta be pretty quick with multi-buttons presses, and it's much more awkward on a pad.

This is coming a fighting pad junkie. I've bought tons over the years, but am converted to sticks now just because the barrier to pulling off certain moves and combos is much lower with a stick. I'm actually able to pull of Guiles super/ultra pretty consistently now, but never would have been able to with the same success on a pad. There's also a lot of stuff in SFIV that having a joystick (with a square gate like the TE) makes a lot more possible. Balrog's heabutt into super/ultra for example. (still learning this stuff :p)

I can't wait for mine. I'm sure using an Arcade stick is awesome and all, but I haven't used one since the Dreamcast because they hurt my wrist so bad. besides I rarely play fighters online as I like at least getting a kick or 2 in. :) I got this mostly for XBLA games such as the upcoming Mega Man 10 :)

I have, and I have to say I prefer neither of the above. A controller with an analog stick is my preferred method of playing, but I don't see how a fight pad with diagonals and not-ridiculously-spaced-buttons is much different.

Actually, I used to have an arcade in my home town, visit an arcade within driving distance at least every other month, and own a Tekken 6 fight stick- I still prefer using a controller with an analog stick.

This is the best point I've seen so far. Being able to have all your fingers on every button at once could certainly be an advantage as far as one's reaction time goes.

Ok, I have had a chance to try two FightPads on the PS3 at the same time and they work flawlessly. I tried Ken vs. Ryu in 'Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix" and had no issues. You just have to plug in 2 of the USB dongles, one for each controller. Just FYI.

Interesting. That clears up some issues.

Got an email saying they oversold it and that they can't ship mine. Instead, they gave me my pick of B1G1 for the Round 1 controllers. fuck!

I just got the same email. This actually works for me as I initially wanted 2 of the Round 1 controllers.

Deal is dead, I missed it. Damn it. Also as far as someone who said that wireless is not allowed by anyone other than MS is wrong, I have the Hori Limited Edition Tekken 6 fightstick and it is wireless and was a damn good deal at $64.52 a couple weeks ago with Tekken 6. I highly recommend this even if it is at the $99.99 price with the game now.

It is wrong saying they aren't allowed. However the technology is owned by Microsoft, either both sides work out some sort of mutual deal or the third party is dishing out more dollars than they would like to for their product.

I received the same email. At least they are still honoring the deal which is very nice. My experience with canceled orders has been pretty awful in terms of customer service.
no ones allowed to make wireless stuff for the 360

blame M$
Tell that to whoever (Madcatz? Hori?) made the Tekken 6 Wireless Arcade Stick for the Xbox 360.

thats the exception to the rule. try to find another or a non-M$ headset that is wireless...

can't? yea, thought so

Ditto.

Boo!

Not really interested to begin with. Can't use two PS3 one, so no go for me.

If I was allowed to cross platform with the B1G1 deal, then that would have been a solid for me.

MadCatz makes wireless Rock Band controllers. So it's not a technical limitation, just a licensing one. Apparently, it's just cost-prohibitive except for those limited cases for which the manufacturer deems it worthwhile.
Ocajavati, you can use two on PS3. You just have to have space for two dongles on the console.
I heard there are some interference issue when you use two at once.

Wouldn't know. Too late anyways, so might as well leave it at that. :bouncy: Would have enjoyed a 360 one to give to a friend as gift though.

Uh... are you talking about the HD remake of SF2?

The original game requires quick and precise commands, which you just can't do consistently on an analog stick.

Using a stick doesn't make anyone a better player. It can make a player play better, ie, I play better with a stick than a game pad, but that is because I have always used a stick to play fighting games, and I started just before SF2 Champion Edition was released to arcades. If you suck at Street Fighter, you can have the greatest fight stick in the world, and you will still suck at Street Fighter. Maybe you will have better execution, but that is all you can really expect to gain. Knowing how to SRK and knowing when to SRK, are very different beasts.
