Sorry but i am a noob on any palm pilot i tried one looooooooooong time ago.
Ok here is what happened i saw some guy came into where i work and he was using it to serve the net or something.
I was wondering does all the palm pilot have this function?
Or do i have to buy specific one and sign up for some kind of plan?
Also, any suggestion on what kind of palm i should get?
i don't mind if they are 200-300.
I will mostly use it to go online and play some games.

A link would be appreicated but if not brand+ model will be fine to me.
I will just look it up at ebay.

Thanks

I fear we are not far from the day in which we must ALL serve the net.

hehe i don't remember when was the last time i touch a palm.
But i still remember that palm only have black and white color.

You have to buy a Palm specifically with this feature. I owned an old school Palm Pilot and a newer Handspring Visor, and neither of them had Net functionality (the Visor may have, but I believe it required certain software and/or attachments). The wireless Internet service obviously costs a monthly fee, but I'm honestly not sure how much. I know that SBC Yahoo! offers it. Think of it along the same terms as your cell phone service.

Hmmm........the palm that i saw have a Verizon logo on it. But i never heard of this kind of offer from Verizon or other companies before. =_=

My suggestion is to go with a pocket pc instead. I find them easier to use because they use Windows Mobile software which makes it easier to interface with the windows OS on my comp. The best pda on the market right now (pocket pc or otherwise) is arguably the Dell Axim x50 series. I personally have the x50 middle model but the most popular is the x50v which has a bigger screen and a LOT more processing power. With coupons the x50 low or x50 middle could run you around $300 while the x50v with coupons might be a little over $400. You can browse the net with the x50 mid and x50v (i think you can also with the low but I'm not sure).

I think the palm treo's do. I think they have a cell phone built in to them. I don't know much about the treo's though.

I have a tungsten T3, but you have to buy extra accessories to browse the inernet. I don't know if it's actually fully wireless like a cell phone or not, but they have a modem (I think anyway) but I don't know much about that either. It does have bluetooth, but I don't know anywhere that has bluethooth to use it. Or there's the Wi-Fi expantion card that'll work too... but both bluetooth and wi-fi you need a hotspot somewhere to be able to browse the internet.

There's also the tungsten C that has both wi-fi and bluethooth built-in, but you still need a hotspot to browse the internet with it. I also like the T3 for having the bigger screen.

basketkase543, I'm thinking of getting a pocket pc for my next pda. Have you used a palm? I'm not trying to flame you, but I'm just curious and wanted to know how much better it was over the palm. I couldn't decide when I got my T3. those dells look interesting though... do they have the 640x480 screens?

He was using either a Palm handheld or a PocketPC with either WiFi access or internet via cell phone company (considerably slower than WiFi but better coverage).

One thing I have to nitpick at, it is NOT a Palm Pilot. The Pilot was created in 1994, then there were a few models and then it was left for different Palm handhelds.

Anyway, the market for PDAs is being replaced by cell phones that do the same things.

For games and internet access, you will want to look at the higher-end Palm devices, PocketPCs, or cell phones. You can expect to be paying more than $300 for the device itself, and possibly more if it requires a service to be used.

arr...........i see.
So it wasn't a palm pilot but it was a handheld PC instead.
It was good that i asked before i buy.
I was looking at Dell Axim x50V model.
and it costs about 400 on ebay which i can still live with.

Any other model(s) that you guys think it is good?

Also, after i buy the handheld PC where do i go sign up for wireless service?
Or it's suppose to have something out of the box?

Thanks

The Palm i705 is an older model with Internet that u can probably find cheap or refurbed if u look around.

When u first connect to Sync the device, that is when u will config ur internet subscription -- they have various levels, dependant upon how frequently u want to connect.

Or, you can just use a servcie called AvantGo each time u Sync and it will download content for u to browse offline.

Sorry, I think I misunderstood your first post a little. So you are looking for wireless service provided by a cell phone provider and not by an internet service provider (i.e. wi-fi)? In that case, I don't think that wireless plans, like those offered by Verizon, would work on the pocket pcs I mentioned. I think you may need a smart phone for those kinds of features. A smart phone is a pda/phone hybrid and they vary in prices and features.
