Suikoden 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 - $150

baberg

CAGiversary!
I'm not sure if this was a deal or not, but I have been looking for the Suikoden games for a long time and finally found an eBay seller who listed all of them together for $150 BIN, $9 shipping.

I caught it as he was online listing other games - every so often I'd see another rareish PSX game going for sale under his name. Feedback was only 5 positives and that was from 2004 so I was a little wary, but after reading up on PayPal's buyer protection policies and being convinced that I could get the money back if he didn't ship, I bit on the deal. Shipped USPS Priority Mail with no tracking number (which got me worried too) but today I come home to a nice package sitting on my doorstep.

The cases and manuals look like they've barely been touched and the games themselves are almost mint (Suikoden V has a few minor scratches, nothing huge). There is one broken "prong" on the Suikoden II disk case where the disk snaps into the case but otherwise it's great.

Even if it wasn't a great deal I'm happy with it. Looks like I'm going to be busy RPGing for a while.

if you go to gamedude.com they would give you $75 for just suikoden 2 alone.....i've sent them games in the past and they send you a nice easy check

Awesome deal. I've seen Suikoden II go for about $150 alone.

You can get some really good deals if your lucky enough to see them right as they've been posted. That's how I got Guardian Heroes for $16 BIN

Thanks guys. I thought it was a good deal from some of the prices I'd seen on eBay. Plus I figured, hey, it's only $30 a game even if they're just good games. Now I've just gotta find time to play all these RPGs...

You know what they say...

Buy Low....SELL HIGH!

Seriously...you could go 4x on your investment if you sold all 5..look at this way

PS3 for $150 = )

i think suikoden games are some of those, "its good because its rare" games, i played 1-3 and i really wasnt impressed. i thought the stories were meh and the games were very short.

LOL! I'm in the same boat. I bought Suikoden 1-4 just now for 145 after shipping. I was gonna post and asked if I got a good deal-- seems like it, Suikoden I and II seem to go for a lot sometimes. I already own III and IV so I'm just going to flip them on Ebay.

I dont know what you mean by "good because its rare", as Suikoden 2 is an amazing game and is considered one of the best RPGs ever. Suikoden V isn't that far behind 2 either.

I have everything but Suikoden III. I bought 1 and 2 at Gamestops long ago, and recently picked up 4, 5 and Tactics at the B2G1 of EB/GS sale. Still trying to find a cheap III on ebay. =P

How much does Suikoden 3 go for? I have a seal copy that I bought a long long time ago.

I've seen sealed go on Ebay for 25-30.

It used to go for quite a bit but then there was a reprint. There might have actually been 2 reprints at this point.

4X is pushing it, but it is a good deal. Especially when you consider the cost of shipping each game seperately that right there is about $30.

That's what I was thinking also, I think it would be tough to impossible to make that much selling all five Suikodens seperately even if they were factory sealed. I'd guess about $200-300 roughly if selling them all complete & seperately

Trust me, it can be done...and it's 4X because...

5 games, 150 for all 5, that's 30 each....so

Suikoden II for $120 is 4x

Suikoden I for $100 is near 4 x

The other three? Sit on them for a while and you might get to 4x profit..right now it's more like 2x on those.

Well, to be honest I don't think I'll be selling them. I'm in it for the games and not the money. I think I've got a minor case of OCD where I tend to hoard video games a bit (like a lot of people on here I'm sure). I'm just stoked that I got the games for a good price - I had seen Suikoden II on eBay for $150 BIN a couple times and wasn't sure if that was just ridiculously overpriced or if that's really what it was worth.

To be honest, and really, this is honest from the bottom of my heart..

It's not worth it. I gave into the hype many years ago..and quite honestly the games were very underwhelming. If you've played Xenogears, FF VII, FF VIII, and also some Saturn RPG's like Dragon Force, Grandia, and Lunar, then quite honestly, Suikoden is VEEEEERY underwhelming.

But here's the good thing, these games don't lose value, it just goes up, so you can play through ALL five and beat them and when you're done, you can still sell them for max profit..maybe even more. All I know is the minute you want a 360 or a PS3, you've got it already.

Those prices are very hard to get these days. It seems like Suikoden II doesn't go for as much as it used to though the first game is going for more now. I was checking prices a few days ago since I was thinking about selling my copies.

[/quote]I'll freely admit that I might have "bought into the hype" because it is so rare and so expensive. I've got a pretty big backlog of games right now but I'm sure I'll get around to playing them eventually. From what I hear they're not terribly long games which is nice for me because I know I don't have to devote dozens of hours to beating it.

Nice score.

I got a used copy of Suik 2 for $75 on ebay, not bad at all.:)

Yeah, it's not that long of a game. I think Breaht of Fire III is longer. I liked the story better too.

Just to register a dissenting view, I really love the Suikoden series and I haven't even played I or II. Suikoden III is my favorite RPG of all time (except maybe for FF XII). In my experience the games were not particularly short. If you don't feel like playing all of them I'd recommend skipping IV: it did some things well but it also had some issues.

Great deal, btw.

I think Suikoden, the first two games at least, were two of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Underwhelming by no means. Especially the first game...

I played them before any of the "hype" though, so it might have been a different story if I was just playing them now...hmm...

You never said "might" before ;) Just made it sounds as if he could turn them over on eBay for 4x what he paid as if he could do it tomarrow(?) if he wanted to and your not factoring in any fees either it seems. I honestly don't think Suikoden III or IV will be worth alot of money in the future Suikoden V is the only PS2 Suikoden that I think has the potential to maybe be worth a crazy amount when it's way OOP.

$100 for Suikoden? I haven't looked it up lately but I'd guess that it would take a fluke to sell a copy of Suikoden for that much (complete). I can't help but think that Konami printed a fair number of Suikoden I as I can still remember when I used to see it at the local EBgames on any given day used for 12.99 and I think it might have even been cheaper then that at one point.

For what it's worth I bought Suikoden I when it came out and played though it right away as it was the first RPG I was really interested in playing on the Playstation (passing on Beyond The Beyond) and had alot of fun playing it.

I rmember I used to find quite a few Suik I at EBGames used. $100!! Sealed yes, used, not even close.

I just wanna say thanks to the OP, for posting this thread. It made me decide to search Ebay on a whim, just to see what Suikoden 2 goes for these days... which resulted in me finding (and today, winning) an auction for the Instruction manual. Now, if I can get a case/trap sheet for case on the cheap, my Suikoden collection will be complete! :D

You got an excellent deal.

Don't sell them--you might double your money, but then what are you going to do with that extra $150? You'll probably just end up with five more games, almost certainly worse than what you started with. Think of it this way: no matter how lucky you get on eBay, it'll end up giving you a few tanks of gas. Clearly you're not too hard-up for cash, so it would be silly for you to flip a deal like that.
