So I went to Gamestop the other day. Found a few case for games that I was interested in for PS1. Tales of Destiny 2 and DDR, I hand the case in and the dude comes back empty handed both times. I give him Suikoden 1 case and he comes back with it.

I was $29.99 + tax, I had a $3.40 that I've been sitting on from them forever so I used that. I looked at the disc before I swiped my card...it's it kinda crappy condition. NO instructions or inserts.

I probably should take it back...opinions?

imo 1 isnt worth as much at all compared to 2. and seeing as how it doesn't have inserts or manual, and the game is in crapy condition. i would return it but thats just me.

play the game. It's the best one in the series.
If you're looking for financial gain though I'd return it. But if you knew you were going to resell it whyd you buy it in that condition in the 1st place?

I kinda want a play copy. I hardly play the one I have now cause it's part of my collection. I'm just looking for a backup mostly. Getting one with instructions and inserts would be a major plus. I'm just asking if $30 was too much to pay it.

As has been said many times, games are a terrrible investment. Buying games purely for speculative reasons is silly... especially when your getting into the game late. Right now Suikoden 4 just came out, so there is going to be the spike in interest in the previous games in the series that usually happens. I'm just glad it's not like with 1 and 2, where when 2 came out everyone went nuts looking for 1 because of all the extras you got in the second if you had played through the first.

2 saw such a bump when 3 came out, even though the benefits from having played 2 are miniscule in 3.

I'd take it back, but that's just because I'm kinda anal about having complete stuff. During gamestops buy 2 get 1 free sale, I passed on a disc only Suikoden 1 for that reason.

same here, I pass on legend of mana w/ no manaul for $20 and xenogears for $20 w/ no manaul.

The only game I bought that wasn't complete was PS2 MGS2: substance for $9.99. It came with manaul and game disc. The insert case was BB w/ reproduction art cover. For $10 I aint complaining, plus this game is hard to find locally.

Yeah, lets pass up some games we've wanted to play and could own at decent prices because they're missing a couple slips of paper!

I don't suppose they had the insturctions for Tales of Destiny 2?

And $30 is to much for Suikoden 1, good game but at that price I'd start looking on ebay.

Nah, no manual for ToD2 either.

Eh, I'll probably take it back. I love complete games, no matter what, usually.

 You are changing.

Another thing to note is many copies of Suikoden 1 that are complete are going for 30-35 on ebay.
I'm a big fan of the Suikoden series and I agree with you that sometimes it's just nice to have it complete (esp. for something with such beautiful art). Right now ebay is over saturated with Suikoden 1 and 2 so some are slipping through the cracks at some low prices.
Just my take.
