Suikoden on PS3 and internal memory card question

I bought Suikoden from the Playstation Store, but I can't save my games. I get the error that there is no memory card in slot 1. I am confused because I thought that internal memory cards are created in order to save these types of games or am I not understanding something?

What you have to do is create an internal PS1 memory card on your PS3. After that, you have to assign it as slot 1. That should do it.
