Summer Movies 2011 Discussion Thread
I'm not looking for comic authenticity in my comic movies anymore. While 300 and Sin City were good movies that were very accurate to the comics, other greats such as Iron Man and Dark Knight have created their own stories with great success. Successful comic book movies don't need to take their entire plot from the comics. X-men 1 and 2 had almost nothing to do with the comics aside from the characters and they were pretty entertaining.
X-Men one had it's moments. II was watchable. There was downright crap. Wait, that's the same with Spier-man =P And possibly, Iron Man...

Spider-man 3 also makes me want to cry. Of all villians, Sandman? And they got our hopes up with Venom, then threw Topher Grace at us... I wanna cry now =(
Anybody watch 'hangover 2' or 'kung fu panda' this week? ...not me. too busy to watch it. heard both were not that great.
I saw Kung Fu Panda 2 on Saturday.

IMO, it was even better than the first one, with some even more stunning action sequences than the first.

If you liked or loved the first one, I think you should love the second one. And from what I read elsewhere, they're supposed to be making six movies total, so this is hopefully a franchise with some legs in it.
Hangover 2 was okay. It was literally the same movie as the first, so if you want more of the same, you'll like it. I'll buy it when it comes out, but it'll be hard to see it in theaters a second time.
Exactly. They used the first movie as a template and just inserted new gags in a different location. It was funny but don't expect a whole new experience. There were parts of the movie where you could tell what was about to happen based on the previous movie.

Watched 'Super 8'... definitely recommend this one! I really enjoyed the movie! Funny, good story, scary looking monster......it was good.

Really want to see super 8.

And sorry to be OT but when the hell was San Diego infested with bed bugs? I see the news all the time and only remember a firehouse having a problem.

It was around last fall. There was a small infestation.

My wife and I see a ton of movies so my summer list is rather huge. Add in the movies the kids want to see and it gets even bigger. Good thing every movie so far has been paid for by movie cash as well 90% of the rest I plan on seeing.

Already saw:
Fast Five
PoTC: On Stranger Tides
Hangover 2
X-Men: First Class
Thor
Rio
Kung-Fu Panda 2
Priest

Will see:
Green Lantern
Mr. Popper's Penguins
Cars 2
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Horrible Bosses
Harry Potter 7
Captain America
Cowboys and Aliens
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Conan the Barbarian
I really hope Mr. Popper's Penguins was the kids' choice. The trailer looked awful.
Lol yes it is and the wife too, she is a sucker for Jim Carrey movies.

Conan remake looks like shit. Momoa is 10x more badass as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones. That fight last episode with the guy that wanted to take over the khalasar was insane.

Saw Xmen last night. It was damn good. I really enjoyed it. Might of been a bit too long of a movie, but I still liked it.

and omg...I just found out that the new Transformers movie is 2 hours and 50 minutes! wtf.

Talking to myself in here. Oh well...

Watched an early screening of Cars 2... Don't bother unless u have kids that like it. Could of been straight to video...pixar kinda failed on this one. I assume Disney pushed them to do this to sell lots more merchandise.

Wow, didn't know Transformers was that long! X-Men so far has been the best superhero movie of the summer, although Thor was surprisingly good too.

Saw Mr. Popper's Penguins with the kids last weekend and then Green Lantern with my brother. Mr. Popper's Penguins was superior in every way to Green Lantern. I can easily say Green Lantern was one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

Going to take the kids to Cars 2 this weekend, I am sure I won't like it but I know they will. They love 3D movies and I have found the only enjoyable 3D movies seem to be the animated ones.
Transformers 3 has a runtime of 153 minutes.
I guess math isn't just for kids any longer?

I rounded my time...didn't remember the exact minutes. ;)
