Welcome to the magical, happy thread for happy thoughts. Tired of reading posts with people arguing? Tired of all the insanity? Then this is the thread for you.

P.S- Once I feel this thread has:
A. Served its purpose
B. Got out of hand
C. Is just completely pointless

I will delete it or have someone lock it. So until then, have at it.

I sadly only like the taste of the blood of my enemies.

I also have a related not so happy but funny story. My soon to be 2 year old pressed the open/eject button on my Xbox during a game. Hmm, what's this button with the glowing green light around it? So I started to use a rubber band around the handles of the cabinet doors so she couldn't get to the Xbox (since one of the doors has to be open a bit to let the controller cable through). That worked for a while...

...until she discovered the joy of pulling apart the break-away cable. It was after this that I decided I could no longer play Halo while she was in the room, which has lead to a decrease in Halo playing. You know, this is such a very unhappy story .

i got the logitech wireless for that very reason.
no headset though, unless thats wireless too
the wireless is only used during the kid's waking hours. i only play single player or rumble/team training with it, so communication isn't important...training games only, since i may have to stop playing to whoop some kiddie ass at any given moment.

the wired controller comes out along w/headset after their bedtime.

I just had fun messing with our desk worker. they installed bullshit ID scanners at the front door so you have to swipe your card before you enter the building. I figured me swiping my card proves that I live here and I dont have to show it to anyone else. she actually chased me on to the elevator and wouldnt let it go up until I showed it to her. ahh messing with people on power trips is great.

ummm...did she let it go up after you showed it to her? :)

Hmm hope he didn't show her that. Then this would be a sad thread story for me :)

I'll give the secret to true bliss... drum roll please.... take about a 3 day vacation from halo 2 and there you have it. Better yet, just make it a vacation away from your xbox period. I've been getting drunk the last two nights and it has worked wonders. Yes I got on once and realized I could get angry at any given moment so I quit. Thats happiness in a nutshell.

That's pretty funny, since I have the opposite issue. :D

I end up using H2 and the Xbox as a nice de-stress device, so I like getting angry on-screen. :D

Must be joys of being a regular working stiff.

Yea, shrike, I don't work so I guess when there is hostility on halo 2 it kinda feels like work to me and feels like fun to you. Perhaps

i take a break from halo every so often, and catch up on a good book, like the complete sherlock holmes collection, only 7 bucks at b & n, but it makes me feel quite refreshed, also the OTT forum, for a good conversation

Thats all that i avoid doing to get me happy (though a break from halo is nice). I dont like the OTTs and books = boring

I think I am going to read H.G. Wells classic "War of the Worlds" before the movie comes out. Either that or "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac.

english literature when read, though may be straining to read, shows off the grandure of relaxation, and has rich details of comfort, that can put the imagination to work, to make any place comfortable to the mind, my acoustic is also a good break, when the stress gets to me as well

I think this is the perfect moment to bump this post again. Let's start forgeting about the whole bickering... So since the last posts on this topic were about literature: Justa, I hope you read On the Road it's a really good book. If you are interested in the American Beat Generation of artists, this is the movement's "bible", along with the poem "Howl".
If anyone wants to expand their horizons and read some top notched Latinamerican literature, should read One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez, Delirio by Laura Restrepo (a book that is shaping to be one of the greatest of the first part of this decade, and shoul already have a translation), or start slowly with some mindbending short stories by Julio Cortazar or Jorge Luis Borges.
Think happy people! :) i have already promised myself to stop posting on "bad karma" topics... :bouncy:

Anybody like reading Stephen King? I think he's a really gifted writer with a wide range of different types of writing. I just felt like saying something in this thread.:)

My favorite writer? Terry Pratchett. I've read 25 of his books. It's one series (Discworld), but there are various sections of the world that encompass a few books. They're all great, with likeable characters, perfectly blended storylines, and Brittish "humour" at its best.

The British and the crazy spellings. I mean come on, does color or humor really need the u for colour and humour? I'll take my words without extra letters thrown in them. Its my language and I'll speak and spell how I want to.
... you say al-oo-min-um, we say al-oo-mini-um; you say lee-zure, we say lie-zur-i-ay; and you say 'erbs, and we say herbs, because there's a fucking H in it...
;)

A few of us CAG guys played with a bunch of CAGtacs, and there was no bickering, no name-calling, and no BS. We played, and everybody was cool to everybody else (except the tryout guy who left me high and dry in two-per-team slayer). A good time was had by me (I can't speak for everyone else).

Whoever that mouthy little kid was -- that trying out for CAGtacs -- was trying overly hard to be lolz funny. He sounded like he had Donny Osmond's teeth (in addition to his own), and needed a massively large cartoonish anvil dropped on his head.

please god tell me that he's talking about olrox.

I don't know who you are, but you have instantly become the greatest poster on this message board for one day.

Awesome.

there is a god. downright HILARIOUS. anyhow, he's actually in the clan already, he's arikado's little brother. he does run his mouth like no one else, but he can back it up most of the time. i can't WAIT until he reads this.

Lame, dude, lame.

Edit: One of the reasons you didn't find it funny was a lot of them were inside jokes. Other than that, Arikado told me that some times I over do things, so yeah, I'll try to calm myself down. There's only a select few who find my stupid sence of humor funny (Not gonna name them) And then there are other who I just bug the crap out of. So, my point is, I'll try not to be as overdoing as I was.

I read some short stories by Borges for a literature class and found them to be enjoyable, even with all of their convolutions.

I'm very glad to hear that you enjoyed Borges Rad, sometimes he is a hard to understand author. If you (or anyone else) is interested on sugestions for some good readings of Latinamerican lit, let me know.
