you have to use dan for all 9 matches, and you have to beat it in X' mode. i beat it in X mode and didnt get the achievement, then realized it was X' mode. also, make sure it's on hard or harder because normal doesnt cut it either.
 
this is one of my fave games of all time, the HD port is very good. i already beat all the single player modes on Hard yesterday in one sitting. i'll take you guys on :)
 
Does this have the damage scaling options from the PS1 version? I used to love setting the damage low, and having these long, epic, tactical matches. You could set it between "1" and "4," if I remember correctly.

Played a couple of matches with xpag yesterday, and man, just those few matches had me wanting to play all night. I forgot how satisfying a good back-and-forth match of Puzzle Fighter can be!
 
i dont know how many ppl this effects but i'm somewhat color blind, is there anyway to change the green and yellows? like in hexic where they have designs on the colors...or can we start a petition or something by emailing capcom, love the game just cant tell the difference between the yellow and greens :whistle2:(

It does for me slightly on a couple of names. I think you can adjust the screen just a bit.
 
Yeah that X and X' mode achivements pissed me off to no end. I went 20-3 on Live last night using Ken 24/7 before humilating people with Dan only to realize I was playing the wrong online mode for achievements.

Now to just get those insane combos and play the two boring extra modes.

I just beat it on Normal as Ryu. I see one of the Achievements requires you to beat the game as Akuma. I don't see him on the character select screen. Do I need to unlock him? If so, how can I do that?

You just highlight Hsien Ko (I think) and press down.
 
Never played this before but I really am pleased with this game and definetly worth the 800 points...Best puzzler on the 360 by far.
 
I was impressed enough to drop the points. But, like most puzzle games (save for Tetris), I'm completely abysmal at it. I can't set up good combos to save my life, but I guess that just comes with time. It's still really fun in the meantime.

I'll be up for a tournament, in case somebody needs an easy first-round win. ;)

And believe me, if it were not 11:30, we WOULD have...

Just got the 5-Chain Achievement last night and came SO close to the 7-Chain (DAMN Blue Crash gem...) I only need that and the 20-win x' one. So I'll be on later tonight (After the Yankee Game so around 10-ish) to get the nice round 200GS.

And Busta, I look forward to more epic matches!

Edit: I didn't notice a setting for changing the damage... too bad.

Ugh I kinda want this game but I had to give my friend 800 points for buying me Halo 3..oh well I guess its better. I only have 1300 points left. Trying to save 800 for castle crashers, which I hope will be 800.

CC won't be out until next year, plenty of time to save up for that. this game rocks!

I thought you just needed to PLAY as Akuma (Easiest 6GS EVER!) to get it...

and indeed, this Game ROCKS!:applause:
 
Akuma achievement was so lame. you get it just by starting out as him. you don't even need to beat the game with him. i got the Dan one, much better achievement :)

the 5x achievement I was able to get by Cascading crash gems (Set up a stack of crash gems Green,Yellow,Blue,Green, & Red) then have a Green,Blue,Yellow, & Green normal gems on top of the stack. When the diamond gem comes (About 25 pieces into the round), land it on a red colored gem... and the cascade is on!

5 gems later, you have your achievement. Best done on Stage 1 of "Normal" Difficulity.

What is the main difference between X and X' game types. I have not really played this a lot in the past but I know what's going on.

I played a bunch of ranked games last night and I always loose when I play X' but I usually win when I play X. And when I say I loose playing X' I mean I get my arse kicked. Not really sure what's the difference between the two. Thanks
 
The difference is the patterns that the various characters drop onto their opponents board when they shatter their own gems. X is the original arcade patterns, X' has rebalanced patterns. I would guess that in X' you're running into people who are looking for a more balanced game while people in X are just playing for fun.

Man is there ever some stiff competition in the ranked matches. I think I've won 2 out of 7 and the ones I've lost I've generally lost two straight rounds in.

I'd love to blame the D-pad but I plugged in my DoA4 stick so there goes that excuse.

Anyhow, fun game. The option to sort without voicechat is great, I may have run into 15 year old racists, but I sure haven't heard from them. Then again, maybe that's why it's so hard. All the serious types may be playing w/out voice chat.

Then for the other 2 i luckily got paired up agianst someone even worse than me
 
I tried the demo and I couldn't get it...I won but I have no idea what was going on. Maybe I'll give it another shot I guess...seems like the game are is way too small. What's the best mode to play.

play with voice chat but turn the headphone volume all the way down. You'll own the 15 year old racists and not even have to listen to them...
 
What about the arcade perfect mode? Could someone talk about the graphics and gameplay? Are they really true to the arcade? I'm not a big fan of the new block breaking animations and the audio is a little too much for me.

the gameplay of X is basically the same as the arcade. the only differences are the music is slightly different, the backgrounds and text have received and upgrade, the sprites look terrible and the new crash animations.

i could do without the ugly sprites and crash animations but the core gameplay is the same.

not only are some of the patterns different but the amount of damage (number of gems that fall on your opponent) is also different. for instance akuma does 85% compared to X and chun li does 120%.
 
I got my 20 wins achievement on day one before all the good players got online. I get my butt stomped online lately! :D Working on the single player ones now this game is fun I never played it on the Playstation.
 
Anyone have the game glitch up yet and only throw one color of gems? I am playing right this second and the game continuously threw me yellow gems. It finally broke with a diamond, about 25 pieces in. I managed to take a picture. It's a little blurry (it's hard to take a picture of a projector screen).

yup, its happened to me, but only in arcade mode, i havent had it happen online.
 
Is there a way to not have to push LT + RT to talk when playing online (besides entering private chat)? That maybe the worst game design idea ever.

Wow, the game really makes you do that just to talk? That IS pretty bad.
 
I got this game over the Labor Day weekend and I must say it is awesome. It holds up perfectly. I used to play this one all the time at the arcade and bought the rerelease of it on GBA. I still want to find a good PS1 copy of it, but haven't been able to for the life of me.

Yeah it's pretty idiotic, I just stick to private chatting right now.
 
I'm a huge fan of this game. This is my first experience with it and while I'm getting clobbered online, I'm forging my way. Anyone feel free to challenge me if they see me on.

Same here. The game is definately fun as hell, but I always managed to get destroyed even if I have my opponent on the ropes. They always pull out the 25+ counter and own me.

I would also be intersted in a tournament. I'm not that great I get beat down online all the time. I took me about 70 games to get 20 wins but I am decent.
