Super Stardust Portable - Out December 4 - $9.99

So far nearly every review i've read has said this game runs silky smooth at 60 FPS. To me, at $9.99, 60 FPS + a great game in and of itself = must buy.

Awesome game. Played it all night long. Finally a good reason to carry my psp with me again. Also tried to DL everyday shooter but it didn't work. I hear that is a good game as well.

this game is soo good. but why did sony have to screw us with extra DLC.. it was listed as game types when i bought it but was not in the download. this is bs but i still like the half a game i got for $10. :)

I played both versions and honestly the PSP controls are crap. I much prefer the PS3 version by a mile and it looks way better on the PS3. :)

wow, bumping an old topic.

aside from comparing this to the ps3 version (dual stick), how is it stand alone? i have heard some mixed reviews.

It takes some getting used to. My co worker didn't like it originally but now he has gotten on my nerves talking about nothing but SSDP. I originally liked them from the controls from the get go so i've been happy with it from day one.

I picked this up on the PSP sale, on PSN. It was only $5, so I had to put my skepticism aside and jump on it. I have to say: I actually prefer these controls to SSDHD. The 'tap to spread' function is extremely helpful, on the face buttons. The game translates really well to the PSP, and is great for playing in bed or on the bus.

Super Stardust: Portable is a must-buy for any PSP owner. Grab it for $5 before it jumps back up to $10.

The only real downside is the length of the game. It's just a shame there aren't more planets and optional soundtracks (the soundtrack featured in the game is the 'Orchestral' variation from SSDHD).

It is very very good although I prefer Everyday Shooter for the gameplay, the puzzle element and especially the great music.
get the add on, i play endless for hours.
add-on for the PSP? didn't know there was one..

Yeah I downloaded this too at $5 and was very happy I did! My only quirk is that the ship looks sooooo tiny compared to everything else. Sometimes its hard to see it in all the chaos. But still very fun, controls aren't horrid or anything for having to use the face buttons, it's done well.

yea, i totally agree. i have had my psp for about a month, and have about 5 games, but all i really play is stardust.

the addon is the solo pack from like the ps3 version. its 4.99 as well, but it's worth it. especially if you got the game for 4.99. i payed 14.98 (total) and it's still worth it.

i wish there was a demo for everyday shooter then. i just thought it looked like ass, until you mentioned you liked it. i would like to try it, but not drop $10 unless its good.

The graphics are actually perfect for what it is (you are a small white pixel thing). It plays almost exactly like Super Stardust but there is a better sense of accomplishment, IMO, when you finish a level (song) - also figuring out the puzzle and how to maximize points is fun but actually doing it is quite a challenge. I always feel like I can do just a little better every time I play which keeps me coming back (the score means something because it basically counts up by 1). I really love it.

Check this video out for somewhat of an idea how it plays (headphones are a must though!):

As long as it runs fine, Everyday Shooter fits well on the PSP since it only shoots in eight directions on the PS3, so control is more about moving the ship to aim than the actual aim.

Bought this earlier today before the update and am enjoying it so far. Played a bit on Casual Arcade and got to Segomo without much trouble, though I lost on the boss, which will make the clusterfuck that planet is a bit harder to get through from just starting at that planet.
