So with the CC sale my collection has grown a bit and i'm trying a few titles that normally I wouldn't touch. So I pop in Star Wars Clone Wars earlier this evening and give it a shot, didn't put it down until I beat it :) I don't know I just always assumed Lucas Arts put out more or less medicore stuff but I was totally floored by it, dethroned the Rogue Squadron franchise as my favorite console based Star Wars ship game. So anyone else get any surprises lately?

Chaos Legion
Devil May Cry 2

I passed on them because of the poor reviews, but I actually really like both games. Futurama is also pretty fun if your a fan of the show.

Part of me is going whew glad that someone likes Chaos Legion ( sitting sealed on my floor waiting for me to get around to it) but the other part is going good god someone liked Devil May Cry 2?! :D

I wasn't sure about Final Fantasy Tactics Advance when I bought it this weekend, but I can now definitely say I love tactical rpgs.

I'm so behind on playing games I already have I may not get to any of the CC blowout goods until sometime in 2006.

For the first time I'm probably not going to buy the new generation of consoles at launch.

i agree with you fully..i'm so behind on good cheap games i'm going to be playing them well into 2006

this is the best site ever

Spider-man 2.

And I know what you mean, epobirs. A lot of great, cheap games coupled with blockbuster titles=busy for a long time. Plus college is looming around the corner.

I finally shrugged off "Keeping up with the Joneses." I used to feel obligated to pre-order and get everything the day it came out. Yeesh.

Mortal kombat : Deadly Alliance.

Surprisingly good fighting game. It doesn't dethrone SC II but for $5 dollars, it's not bad at all. Especially after Mortal Kombat 4. Now that was bad fighting game.

I've been depositing a ton of my free time into Mario Golf: Advance Tour lately. I mean, it's like golf and Golden Sun got together, had a demonic baby, and gave it a 5-iron. I love it, and I've never before bothered with golf games.

wrestlemania XIX, i used to love wrestling but got out of it, saw this for $4.99 so i gave it a shot and i love it

Did you ever play the original on GBC? If you enjoy that, I think you'd like Mario Tennis, too, whenever that comes out, or you could just get the original GBC game. I played that to death.
Konami Arcade Advance. The games are still fun and challenging and bring back all those fond memories.

*wipes away tear*
good one. I was a dedicated Scramble and later Super Cobra player back when it was new. My favorite for just mindless shooting is Time Pilot.

A similar game, Bosconian, made the first Namco Museum a must have after nearly fifteen years of not being able to find any arcade units and no home version for a system I cared to own. It's been very irritating to me that Bosconian has been left out of most other versions of Namco Museum since I'd really like to have a portable version.

I've been playing alot of Soul Calibur 2, I know lots of people think it's great but I wasn't sure if I would like it since I was never too crazy over DC version of soul Calibur. But the collecting gold and buying stuff has me addicted. I love games where I'm rewarded just for playing.

Dead to Rights. I bought it for 5 bucks thinking that it would be a cheap knockoff of Max Payne, and it is :), but Im really enjoying it.

Some odd ones: Chu Chu Rocket is incredibly addictive, and if you are at all into Japanese music games, Space Channel 5 is crazy (I have it for the DC).

Oh another one: Karnaaj for the GBA. A beautiful top-down racer which is similar to Super Offroad. Really well done.

And as much as Id like to play Boktai, I live in the second dreariest place in the States after Seattle: Rochester, NY. As such, I dont think Ill be buying that anytime soon :p.

I agree on the Chaos Legion front. I loved that game. I would go back to levels over and over again, just to see what the different legions could do. Chronicles of Riddick. I know it has been getting really good reviews, but I didn't expect it to be good when I first heard about it. It floored me.

Most recently I've been playing Mega Man Zero thanks to the Circuit City sale but every so often my girlfriend and I play Puyo Puyo Fever on the Dreamcast. That game is just so fun!

Dead to Rights was better than I expected - picked that up for $7 from ebgames.com. Also, Boktai was quite enjoyable - or at least what I've played of it was. I didn't expect to have as much fun as I am with Dynasty Tactics 2 or La Pucelle Tactics either

Crimson Skies. I figured it'd be good from all the positive reviews, but not THIS good. It's an amazing game that never gets old.

I'm actually buying it tomorrow, but Project Gotham 2 is SO much better than I thought it would be. The cars handle a million times better and its easier to pull off slides and shit. Also, I just beat Maximo: Ghosts to Glory and it was absolutely brilliant.

Kung Fu Chaos. I played the demo version a long time ago and wasn't very thrilled with it. Since it got many favorable reviews (and only cost $4.99 at CC), I figured I'd get it and see if maybe I was missing something. Obviously I was because I'm totally addicted to the game now.

I'm also pretty surprised at how good P.N. 03 is. The game got mediocre reviews from what I've read, but it isn't nearly as bad as most people think.

And, as rabbitt said, Boktai also kicks ass (when the weather in Ohio decides to stop sucking  ).

I agree with Dead to Rights, I got it in the Gamestop deal for Breakdown plus Dead to Rights for $20 and I ended up getting much more into Dead to Rights than Breakdown (which I've barely touched).

Culdcept is my favorite game in my PS2 collection (which is 60+ games); if you don't have it, you all should definitely pick it up at EBgames if you can.

I picked up Gladius for Xbox in my Circuit City sojourn and it's easily my favorite out of my pickups so far, at least for ones that I've opened (though I have many still sealled such as Disgaea which I'll probably won't open until I finish La Pucelle).

Chronicles of Riddick, I know the reviews were good, but for some reason I just didn't think it would be that good. The first time I put it in I put about 6 hours into it, and it was a great experience

Are we the same person?

My Chronicles of Riddick experience also seems similar to both of yours. I thought it would just be just a flat-out dumb game. Saw the screens, then I thought it would be a great looking game, but would still be dumb. Saw the reviews and picked it up myself. It was an awesome game.

A cheap 4.99 game I picked up recently was Metal Arms for the xbox. The only thing I seemed to find annoying was the occassional screen tearing. I heard they are not making a sequel cuz of the lack of sales, which sucks though.

The only thing that could have been surprising about Chronicles of Riddick to me would be the game actually sucking because it was met with many, many positive reviews for so long before it came out. Also I did the same thing, spent a good 5 hours on it on my first sitting, only stopped because a massive headache came on.
Best XBOX $5 title for me is : Metal Arms its BADASS
I've heard that from alot of people, I can't wait till my 5 buck copy comes in the mail.

Maybe I'm just easy to please, but I've been pleasantly surprised by quite a few cheapish games.

One recent one I played is Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb. I didn't have very high expectations for this one, but it's actually a pretty fun game. Part of what made it fun for me was the polish. Whenever Indy picks up a weapon or tool you actually see him carrying it on his person (strapped to his back or slung on his shoulder, etc.) and the sound was great.

Breakdown is another one. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get into this game. But I got hooked. It's pretty difficult, but fun.

I just finished Freedom Fighters. I haven't gotten into a tactical squad based strategy game (like RS3) before, but this one keeps it very simple and I really enjoyed it. (It's probably too simple for some to really consider a tactical strategy game, but I've always tended to like arcady games over realistic games.

I couldn't tell you, I haven't gotten to any of my CC stuff yet. Still beating Spider-man 2.
