Surprisingly the Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck
Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Enjoyed this one more than I expected also.
I really hated Hellboy 2. Perhaps, for a comic book adaptation it's passable, but it felt nothing like the graphic novel and the humor was painful. I winced during some jokes. As a fan of the graphic novel, I think the first Hellboy film was much more respectful to the source. Hellboy 2 is up there with Spider-Man 3 as one of my least favorite comic book adaptation films.

And I'm ranting. My apologies.

Teeth - I've been meaning to watch this one for some time, and it was quite enjoyable. Creepy as fuck, but I enjoyed the shit out of it. Great that it's a horror movie with a lot more depth and emotion to it than your standard run of the mill straight slasher flick.

finally got around seeing speed racer on blu ray and it wasnt that bad , it was bad, but it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be.

Repo! The Genetic Opera - after hearing the mixed reviews I was pretty sure I was gonna hate the movie. It has flaws but I enjoyed it. Paris Hilton wasn't as annoying as i thought she would be. Alexa Vega though is fantastic - 4/5

Shoot 'em Up.

Cheesy, but entertaining. Owen and Giammatti were pretty decent given how corny the movie it. But it was an enjoyable watch since I'm exhausted and could only watch something that require little attention.

Since this has turned into a ratings thread more than a "movies that didn't suck" thread...

10 items or less - 2/10

This is a movie like Lost in Translation and Garden State. It's slow... it's boring... and you want to ask yourself WTF was I thinking? or how the fuck did this crap get made? I can understand no talent actors do this kind of movie but Morgan Freeman? wow... not that I really liked him in the first place.

The brunette was hot though...

I'll give you some friendly advice, this is just a "Last movie you watched" thread, nothing do with whether it sucked or not.

Can we just get someone to change the title? Please? Someone makes the same observation every other day.

Yeah really. I was just think the same thing..

The Fall.. Awesome flick. The colors and scenery were so vibrant and awesome looking. Wish I had watched it on blue-ray. Not sure if it even is, if it isn't it should be.

Pineapple Express - meh, hype killed it. Not a bad movie but nowhere as good as everyone made it out to be.

Ghost Town - Really good flick. One of the best romantic comedies in a long time (though I know that isn't saying much outside of Run Fatboy Run). Funny but not sappy and the touching bits are not ham fisted either. Surprised this didn't make more money when it was in the theaters

The Wrestler... I highly recommend it for the story and O'Rourke's performance

Plus Marisa Tomei is topless thoughout... damn she is still hot

I really want to see the Wrestler. Actually tried to see it last Saturday but it was sold out (and it was the last showing that day).

My friends I went with went and saw it Thursday, but I had to bail as I was exhausted and had to get up early again on Friday (and today). So it may have to wait for Netfix.

And Tomei is still smoking. She's topless in Before the Devil Knows You're Dead for people who want to judge first hand and don't plan on seeing the Wrestler (it's on Netlfix instant watch or can just do a google image search).
Yes like the Wicker man, or gone in sixty seconds, or Ghost Rider.
Pointing out some of his shitty movies doesn't make his great films and performances like Adaptation, Leaving Las Vegas etc. any lesser.
slumdog millionaire...had no expections going in but it turned out to be a pretty good movie
yes it was a great film, if not sad. The last dance scene was filmed in the same train station that got attack by the terrorist =(

I just saw something today about the wrestler and I am wanting to see it. I think it was actually on tech tv they were talking about how one of the actors in it is beeing looked at to play a villian in the next iron man.

As for the last movie I saw I just got done watching Into the Wild on HD. I did not expect it to be as good as it was. I'm going to say it is safe to assume it was a sleeper hit of some sort for 2008. I remember a lot of people posting that they were getting it on HD when HDs went cheap and just not got it for around 12 bucks. I have to say it was really good. I almost put off watching it till I got through some of the movies I really wanted to see and others that I have had for some time and have not watched but now I'm glad I did not. I have to say it is one of the better movies that I have seen in a long time.

hancock wasn't bad. I was expecting pure garbage due to all the negative reviews and was surprised. Also maybe the blu ray experience helped. :p

I haven't seen many of his films since Faceoff but these ones I saw and they were very good or good:
Snake Eyes
8mm
Gone in 60
The Family Man
National Treasure
Lord of War (friggin awesome)
The Weather Man (awesome)
Apparently it is fun for people to think an actor's films suck when a critic writes bad stuff about said actor...

I cannot wait to see The Wrestler it looks amazing. Yes, Mickey Rourke should be getting the villain role in the next Iron Man, he is such an underrated actor. He rules.

Shooter
Warriors
Hellboy 2

First time seeing warriors, definitely the best movie out of that group...even though Shooter seems to be one of Marky Marks better films. I dont think I liked anything Guillermo del Toro wrote besides Pan's Lab, didn't see Chronos yet.

Nicolas Cage is awful.
His best movie is Raising Arizona.

He has no range, and plays basically the same person in a different role, with the same stupid look on his face.

Tropic Thunder. Well, it wasn't as great as I thought it would be, but still pretty good. The Tom Cruise part at the end surprised me though. Also, Valkyrie was a piece of shit.

King of the Kickboxers... falls in the category of so bad its good category... cheesy dialogue and acting... plus a chance to see Billy Blanks career before the Tae Bo thing took off...

No, Nicholas Cage is just a really, really bad actor. Coppolas just can't act.

The Wrestler is excellent. Mickey Rourke absolutely deserves best actor for it.

Saw Burn After Reading yesterday. I was really doubtful going in, but was pleasantly surprised. It's not the Coens at their best, but it's still pretty good.

Watched Tombstone for the first time ever tonight. I wouldn't call it a great western, but it's an entertaining one, for sure.

Art of Pain - 3/10

I don't know who recommended it here, but it sucked. At first in the start of the movie I thought I was going to be cool by what went on and then it just became like watching what goes on in a skitso's head. The main guy was a douche too.

Well, I really enjoy how he acts. I can feel what he feels, his frustration, his anger, his happiness, he really pulls me into his characters, which I find quite rare in any actors/actresses. As I get older, I can relate to his characters even more too. Different strokes for different folks.

Are you Nicolas Cage?

Did you feel his anger and frustration in the wickermang?
The only thing I felt was my side hurting from laughing so much.

Went to see Milk again on Saturday with some friends.

Such a good movie. Sean Penn is incredible in it, and the whole thing is just heartbreaking.

It's also kind of crazy to see how little politics have changed since the 70's.

Cage is just a mixed bag. Sometimes he's great (he's won an Oscar after all) other times he's terrible. More just that he takes shitty roles than anything to do with his talent IMO.

But some people just don't like certain actors, and that's fine. I have friends who variously think Jonny Depp, George Clooney and Brad Pitt are terrible actors (when they're among my favorites)--of course they are all pretty casual movie watchers compared to me as well.
