Frost/Nixon was good, but the last 30 minutes were exceptional..
those 30 minutes are what will get langella that much closer to winning best actor.
i'm glad you thought milk was that great. if the academy had ANY balls whatsoever, milk is your best picture. i think i can safely say that.
Absolutely.
I mean, I still think Wall E is the best picture of the year, and Milk is 2nd.
Milk so far (haven't seen 2 of the 5) deserves Best Picture (and Best Director,Best Screenplay and of course Best Actor).

yeah, wall-e probably was the best picture of the year. i had friends who are hardcore disney and pixar fans say they hated wall-e. i couldn't believe it. like, you don't understand how much they love EVERYTHING disney. and they thought wall-e was stupid and boring.

in other movie news, i just watched revolutionary road, and i'm calling it now, michael shannon is YOUR academy award winner for best supporting actor. not heath ledger. not robert downey jr. nope. michael shannon. count on it.

Anyone see Underworld: Rise of the Lycans yet? I actually enjoyed the first two a lot for what they were and I was planning on seeing the new one tonight. Any opinions?

I took the wife to see Marley & Me a few weeks back. It was actually a pretty good flick. It's funny, but it exactly the type of movie Owen Wilson needs to be in when he's playing his laid back everyman role.

I had a lady at work tell me it was the saddest movie she had ever seen. I spent the whole movie waiting for something tragic to happen. It doesn't. Don't watch the movie waiting for the tragedy. You'll ruin the entire movie. It doesn't happen.

Let's hope not. Heath Ledger is the one who deserves it, and not just because he died. fuck, Batman TDK is the best move of last year and should have been nominated and given the best picture oscar.
The Wrestler - best movie of the year. Although I haven't seen it yet because noone fucking carries it.
Than you can't claim shit:roll:

Anyway, Air Force One on Hulu since they are about to take it down in a couple days. Good movie. Quite enjoyable, though not breaking any mental records there.

Ratatouille. Solid like all Pixar movies, and looked amazing on Blu Ray. Not my favorite though, that would still be The Incredibles. Cars is the only one I still need to see.

Also saw "Dan in Real Life." It was better than I expected. Dane Cook was surprisingly good, too. I like him a lot better when he's not acting like he's strung out on coke.

No shit :applause: and it's "then". I don't mean to be a jerk but I was joking in my previous post. And heres a good movie:
Awakenings - 4.6/5 (Robert Deniro & Robin Williams) anyone else see this?

Young People fucking - 8/10

I must be going nuts... I could've sworn I saw it posted here, but I can't find it now. Anyway, OMFG LMAO! What a great fucking movie. This is just another reason to laugh at all those couples and live vicariously though them.
I saw Alpha Dog.

It was better than I was expecting. 13's boobs were a welcome surprise.
Damn it, now I gotta see this movie. Thanks

yes. i thought it was really good. a bit of a tearjerker, but very good. very finely acted, too.

Same here.

Ya, I was surprised I had never remembered Awakenings from back in the day, but I was pleasantly shocked how great it was when I saw it.

Sorry for reacting the way I did, I think I was just in a bad mood.

I just watched Planet Terror and Death Proof.

They were both good...though there were a couple times during each of them where I thought they were getting a bit slow.

Up next: Machine Girl, Lucky Number Slevin, and Resident Evil: Degeneration.
I just watched Planet Terror and Death Proof.
may i ask you, what did you think of the black chick (tracie thoms) who is the main driver in death proof. the first time i watched the movie, i hated her. now i love her, i love the movie (and planet terror, too), and she's actually an 'alternate' if you will on my 'Who Would Ya Do' list.

Changeling.. god damn this movie should have been up for best pic of the year. Awesome flick (can Eastwood do no wrong?) and Jolie was outstanding.

Joyeux Noel (Merry Christmas)

Film that depicts the famous incident during WWI when entrenched French, German, and Scottish soldiers declared a truce on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and celebrated together. Beautiful.

I saw that last year or the year before. I agree, an amazing story.

Max Payne

Ordinarily, I wouldn't even consider watching something like this but I really enjoyed the games. The movie was surprisingly slow...over-stylized and light on the flavor that really made the games memorable for me.

Tokyo Gore Police

The "political message" goes past the point of being retarded and falls into insulting levels. The SFX are quite good though.

RocknRolla

Though story wise it falls more into the Lock Stock mold, stylistically its more Snatch. Either way, its a pretty fucking boring ass movie that could have seriously used quite a bit of actual editing (falls into Tarantino levels of self masturbation). I dosed off at the end of it. And if nothing else, its also more proof that Gerald Butler can't act for shit.
And so did The Big Hit, which I liked better than Max Payne.
Hahaha, I havent seen that yet or Max Pyane. Come to think of it I have only seen Mark in Boogie Nights, which was hella funny

Outlander. Very pleasant surprise. The way it was shot made me think of brotherhood of the wolf. Pretty good blend of sci fi and fantasy
Since you liked No End in Sight, you should also check out Taxi to the Dark Side if you haven't seen it.
I don't know how I got through that... I feel pretty sick now. Again, I'm embarassed to call myself an American and I'm embarassed to say we are a country with "freedom". (I don't want to start a debate though...)

Anyone seen 'City of God' the Brazilian pic about the slums?

It's on sale at Fry's, read some reviews and it looks pretty damn good, thinking about picking it up.
I was actually gonna buy, have heard it is very good. How much was it???
If you're referring to City of God, it's $9.99.

Oh yeah... Now I remember why I didn't want to see this movie. It has that douche Timberland in it. It's just a bunch of douches acting like douches. No thanks... Sorry 13.

Definitely see it. I saw it a few years ago, but from what I remember its a very moving story. Rather sad knowing how real it is.
