hey guys, i'm looking for a good HTIB for around $400. i don't want a blu ray or dvd player included, just receiver and speakers, 5.1 with whatever bells and whistles $400 will afford me. anybody have some suggestions?
i started this thread and just wanted to update everyone with what i ultimately purchased:

onkyo tx-sr607 receiver (got for $360)
energy take 5 classic satellites
klipsch sw-350 sub (got this and the energys for $350)

spent about $710 for everything, so i'm happy. it was more than i wanted to spend, but because i bought a house this year, my tax return was alot more than anticipated. can't wait for everything to arrive so i can truly enjoy all of my components.
You wiill be very very happy with that setup. It was money well spent on a better system.

Congrats that you finally have it taken care of.
Don't forget about the 608 which will apparently have 6 HDMI ins and be 3-d ready. Comes out the 31st in Japan, not sure when everywhere else. if 3-d matters I guess I'd wait. I don't really care myself. My 605 is more than I could've asked for.

did you read the thread? not only is there zero mention of 3d he also purchased the equipment.

you can get some really good deals on fry's electronics. I bought my system 3 years ago, and I have the Yamaha HTR-5890 for $215.00 it was the display model. and I also bought the Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 system for $200.00 in one of their sales and I also bought a couple of the Polk Audio R300 floor stainding speakers for $50.00 each. With that said, it took me about 6 months of waiting to get those deals.
