On Nintendo's website they have this survey for releasing classic games and which ones would you want the most. I dont know if the survey means something, but this is probably the easiest way to tell Nintendo what classoc games if any that you would want to be put on the GBA.
Mario 3 one of the greatest games ever.
NO IT IS NOT!!

WHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS SAY THAT GAME IS GOOD?!?!

IT WAS THE SECOND WORST MARIO GAME EVER!!

Many classic NES games will just be way to easy with the new save feature that they will more than likely put on when it comes to the GBA. A lot of the difficulty of these old games was having to beat them in one sitting.
Metroid, Contra, Punch-Out, and Tecmo Bowl would all be great additions.
Metroid is already out for the GBA as well. You can play it slightly revised on Zero Mission or play the exact NES version after you beat it. Even with Zero Mission I'm sure tons of intelligent people will still by a re-release because it has the original box art or something.

beat contra with three guys and no continues, I dare ya. See how difficult that is.

This is interesting. They left games on the list that they have already released. I guess they want to verify that the released the correct games. I did not select any games that have already been released because I would like to see more classics released.

I would have to go with Super Tecmo Bowl. The sequel kicked Tecmo Bowl's ass so freaking hard. It would be sooooooooooooooo awesome to be able to link up a couple GBAs and play against someone.

Man, that would rock, and you wouldn't have to worry about your opponent seeing the play you picked!

ok please please PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE for a "write-in" vote put gun-nac....best shooter ever!!!!!! its the main reason i want a flash cart, lol

my write ins were gun-nac, star tropics and north and south

I agree with the write in of Dragon Warrior 4.
I also wrote in Destiny of an Emperor
(what can I say, RPGs, even old ones, stand the test of time).
This sucks...where's my Bubble Bobble love!?
just import bubble bobble old + new, no reason to take up a useless spot in the classics line up for games that have already been made....gun-nac 4 eva!!!!!!!!!!
North and South would be good.
Defender of the Crown is another great game.
Defender of the Crown came out a couple years back on the GBA. Although, I never remember seeing it in stores I found a Gamespot review:

http://www.gamespot.com/gba/action/defenderofthecrown/

My write-ins were: Dragon Warrior IV, Castlevania III, and StarTropics.

Tecmo Super Bowl, Dragon Warrior IV, Life Force.

Tecmo Bowl was already released for the GameBoy. I'd much rather see the better version, Tecmo Super Bowl on the GBA.

Dude, I had no idea! That's awesome!

Another great game that has to be included!!! - Maniac Mansion!

Startropics, Mighty Final Fight, and Battletoads and Double Dragon were my write ins

I also kept voting for Metal Gear.

Chose these because I want a FF comp., Startropics sequel, and the MSX ports of both Metal Gear 1and 2

Out of all of those, I'd only say Punch Out and Contra. And even them I probably wouldn't buy - I can play Punch Out through Animal Crossing. I'd also be interested in Dr. Mario if it wasn't already hidden in WarioWare.

TMNT II
TMNT III
Tecmo Super Bowl
Baseball Stars
Snow Brothers
Smash T.V.
Spy vs Spy
Battletoads
Contra
Lemmings
Simon's Quest
Super Dodge Ball
Ducktales
Mike Tyson's Punch Out
Star Tropics

I desperately hope I'm not the only person here who thinks Ducktales was an excellent game worthy of porting...

/Edit/ Apparently a Ducktales lover was posting at the same time as I and got done a few seconds faster

my 3 write ins:

Dragon Warrior 4 (I own 1&2 and 3 for color and I want to finish the series!)
Pool of Radience (I have owned every version of this game since C64!)
Castlevania 3 (the best of the NES series!)

I also gave heads up to Pro Wrestling, the Original Castlevania.

just import? I'm still offended this hasn't been released stateside.... it's absolutely absurd to think it wouldn't sell, especially as there is an english one already.

I voted for Zelda 2, Castlevania, Metal Gear, Kid Icarus and Contra (should have single cart multiplayer).. and selected from the other bars, Bubble Bobble 2, RC Pro Am (this SHOULD be on the main list), and Bubble Bobble (the Nes version does have 16 extra levels and could support single cart multiplayer for more then just the first 12 or so levels like bub and bob old and new)

also sorry for you Taboo : the Sixth Sense and Hollywood Squares fans, I didn't vote for those!

perhaps if people voted for Hogan's Alley and Duck Hunt they could put out a gamecube lightgun collection........yeah, right!

I think the best thing Nintendo could do is release cartridges alphabetically. Basically, you buy the first game and it has all the Nintendo games from A to C or however many they can fit on a single cartridge and then a few months later, release a another batch of games. The price would be at $29.99.

I think this would be so crazy good. Although it might be more feasable to have these games on the DS. They could call them the NES Mega Collection or something like that. What do you guys think of that?

Well shit! That's two games I've said that are already released on the Gameboy. Shows how much I've been into handheld gaming the last few years. Actually, it was only in the last year and a half that I even got a GBA.
Grave you should pick up Crystalis for GBC it is a great port.
Really? I absolutely loved the one on the NES. What a great game. How faithful was it able to stay graphically?

this would up the sales on the gamecube like crazy....if nintendo did this as launch titles for their new system (hopefully the console and not the portable), they would lead the pack right away in sales imo

Nintendo should set up kiosks with all the games loaded on a hard drive. You order which game you want, put in your money, and it pops out a ROM cart with the right sticker on it, and then prints you out a manual. Then everyone would get the games they wanted!

While I'm dreaming, I'll take one of those flying cars too.

I worked on this game and I can say without any qualms I'd be very happy for the NES version to be never seen again. It was horrible despite all the effort the Aussies at Beam put into it.

Besides, there is already a GBA version of DOTC that comes much closer to the Amiga original in graphics and sound with the C64 gameplay. (The Amiga version was more of a AV demo than a game.)

http://gameboy.ign.com/articles/375/375928p1.html

I find it a bit amusing that the reviewer bases his high regard for the GBA version on his experience with the Apple ][GS version. The ][GS was a wretched evil from beyond time and space that was often the bane of my existence in those days. The machine was so crippled when it cam e to simple animation that it would be very sad if any decent GBA programmer couldn't produce a better game on the same spec.

I'd be more interested if the list didn't include so many that have already been revived and consisted of more than NES moldy oldies.

Nostalgia is all well and good but a lot of games that seemed great when you were twelve don't hold up nearly as well as you might hope. Some, like Mario 3, have the stuff of immortality to them but too many others have been greatly improved upon by newer entries in their respective genres. Even those improved version are often as not ancient enough to merit resurrection.

Back when the Namco Museum #1 came out the game that most interested me was Bosconian. Why? Not only had I been very fond of it in the arcade but it was one of the few never had a decent home version on a platform I owned. You think the gameplay would have been widely reproduced but nobody ever did a clone without deviating so much as to not be a decent substitute. To add insult to injury the availability of Bosconian arcade cabinets, never common to begin with, shrank to nothing as most operators used them for compatible ROMs with more famous names. Like Pac-Man, which I could gladly go for the rest of this century without ever seeing again. It's the frigg'n' 'Stairway to Heavan' of video games.

So I felt I was paying $15 for a game I'd waited nearly 15 years to obtain and a buck or so a piece for the rest. Most of these thing just don't justify a standalone cart for $20. Even with SNES/GBA level enhancements the ROM capacity needed for this is tiny by modern standards.

Give me more like the Konami and Midway collections for GBA. Good value and great portability by putting several choices in a single tiny cart.

trust me, save feature or no save feature some nes games are just HARD.

I choose Metal Gear, TMNT 2, Tecmo Bowl and Punch Out!!

Punch out I'd buy since pocket NES doesn't quite emulate. TMNT2 and MG because everyone owes it to themselves to play these 2 classics. Tecmo Bowl needs no explanation ;)

BTW: why is it they have the 8 that are out on the survey? is the survey outdated or something?
