SVC Chaos: SNK Vs. Capcom to be Xbox Exclusive

I played the arcade version of it recently and it wasn't as bad as I had gathered, but it's still a pretty average game. SNK chose a more varied cast than Capcom's take on the crossover, but CvS2 is still a much deeper, better fighting game. I won't say I won't buy it, because I'm a huge Shiki mark and this is likely the only place I'll get to play as her (unless SNK puts out a Samurai Shodown Perfect Collection or something and both SS64 games are in it) so I'm kind of stuck getting it, but I'm going to avoid paying $50 for it, if at all possible.

actually, it's not an exclusive, it's already available on the neo geo, granted it's a $300 cart, but not an exclusive regardless

Ooh. I was just looking at Neo-Geo.com's store (SVC is $319 there, FYI) and they're selling Atomiswave kits now! Thank goodness hardcore SNK fans can still pay too much for their games.
Exactly. Most console exclusive fighting games are shit. This is no different.
I disagree, but nothing new there.
I'll get it when it comes out for PS2 at $20
As part of a double pack with another SNK/Capcom fighter, right?

I hope the servers are better than CVS2. Lag kills that game. BTW, what's the official release date for DOA? EB says early Sept. but I heard mid Jun or July from other places. I remember then this game was scheduled for Feb/early March. :(

August 31st according to G'Faqs.

I can't wait for Guilty Gear XX. I think it will hold me over until SNK vs. CAPCOM and Street Fighter hits (although Street Fighter will take top priority)

I can't find GGXXR any where for preorder. It's like no retailers know it's coming out. I heard it was getting release next month! But no official word. This game better not take forever.

as far as GGXX I have not seen it anywhere as well. I heard it was coming out soon as well and it was just released in Japan like a month ago so it should not take that long to come out here

It's coming out next month for $19.99, fuck yeah.

SvC is crap, if you want to get it, I would VERY HIGHLY recommend you to rent it first, maybe it's not even worth the rent money.

Here're all the fighters coming up for Xbox -

Hyper Street Fighter 2
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike
Guilty Gear XX # Reload
SNK vs Capcom: Chaos
King of Fighters 2002 & 2003
Samurai Showdown V
Capcom Fighting Jam

All are Live Enabled, but not sure about Showdown and KoF's.

I've seen absolutely nothing saying the ps2 version was cancelled, so i am willing to bet that article is full of shit.

Thats what I though, there is a ps2 version in japan, i've even got it, just never played it because i'm not so bright and dont have any way to play it.

GGXX is going to be $20?
-also-
is SvC going to be $50? That's a little much for a fighting game, not to mention a mediocre one...

(I'm still gonna get it though :( )

SNK already said that it was cancelled. SCEA would not let them release the game on the PS2. If you wanna read it yourself check the history of SNK article over at gamespot

It was originally the intention of SNK NeoGeo USA Consumer Corporation--the North American branch of SNK Playmore--to release Metal Slug 3 and SVC Chaos for the PlayStation 2 in the United States, but due to problems getting the games past SCEA's draconian concept-approval department, both games have been put on hold.

Put on hold... NOT cancelled.

PS2 SVC got canned. The people who brought out GGXX in Japan (Sammy) are not releasing it in America. Majesco is the one stepping up. They bought the rights. Thank goodness for them, Sammy was going to let us Americans rot. Aslo all 3 Mortal Kombats are getting rerelease on Xbox in the Midway Treasures 2. Hell, don't for get about the new MK game coming out with online support. This year is the best for fighting fans! Hope to get some games in with everyone here.

Just buy it for Xbox.

sorry for the double post, but this was almost 4 months ago and to back up the article, there was not a showing of the game at E3 which their was of the Xbox version. My keyboard has problems with the enter key sometimes

I would but i hear all kinds of horrible stories about them not working correctly so i don't want to drop 20 bucks and have it not work, that just isn't cool.

I know what you mean man. I've taked to many people about adaptors and I got a lot of reviews. A Magicbox should work just fine with your joystick. If you stick is a dualshock with analog support pick up a Dreambox (it also has headset support). A Magicbox will not work with daulshock and a Dreambox will only work with daulshock. That's pretty much it. If you have anymore questions please ask.

If you guys do a search for SVC Chaos on Gamestop and EB, you'll see It's no longer avaible for the PS2 when it previously was. That's enough proof for me.

Don't blame SNK for this, SCEA denied this for US release. Why? They are hating on 2d games, and It's also appearant they are hating on SNK as well because almost nothing seems to get released here unless It's in a double pack. I think the exception would be KOF: Maximum Impact because It's 3D. If it weren't for Konami's great MGS we may have never seen Suikoden on the PS1, and I guess the same could be the same about Capcom's Devil May Cry and Onimusha series. Maybe that's also why Suikoden 3 went 3d as well, who knows? But that's just my observations.

For those complaining about the xbox controller, get a convertor. AWhile back (thanks to CAG) I got one on clearance at Wal-Mart for $1, only to find several more. I plug in one of my old PS1 controllers into the convertor and it works like a charm. The huge downside? No heatset since it plugs into the XBox controller (I've tried using the second port. Doesn't work) so you'll missout on all the trash talk.

It's a mediocre game anyways, it never hit it off in the competitive fighting game scene in US. Amongst the tournament style games and games played at high level, it didn't even make the cut for the biggest fighting game tournament of the year... I don't even think it was considered...

And it doesn't really matter if it is Xbox exclusive... it came out in Japan last Dec. for the PS2... due to lackluster sales, I'm not suprised it didn't come out here for the PS2.

Save your money and just buy Street Fighter Anniversary Edition... which includes Hyper Street Fighter II and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.. More bang for your buck, and both online!

Or if you don't really like SF, get GGXX# Reload when it drops for $20.
