I just thought it'd be cool if they added a simple response system to a FPS. This system would simply involve the player saying "Yes" or "No" to questions posed by NPC's. Example. Some chick in a FPS-RPG (cool idea ay?) says its a lovely day, don't you agree. You could then reply "yes" or "no" by moving your view Up and Down, or Left and Right. If you didn't do anything for awhile the NPC could prompt you by saying something like Hello? Sir? or w/e. This is probably a bad example, but I think it'd be a cool idea if implemented in the right way. Its such a simple idea that It couldn't be that hard to add into a game.

Ideas/Opinions/Scenarios greatly welcomed.

EDIT: If this has been done before let me know in which game so I can play it :D

Deus Ex beat you to it a long time ago friend. Granted, they didn't have the "up-down" style of response, but I believe that would be more than a little frustrating in actual practice.

not a bad idea, but there a few first person RPGs out there, including Deus Ex, Morrowind, and Vampires TMBL. I only played Deus Ex, and it was a great game.

EDIT: Beat me to it! (sort of)

I meant a FPS-RPG would be a cool idea in which to implement the Up-Down "Yes" Left-Right "No" system.

Deus Ex huh. Heard of it but I didn't know it had leveling up and what-not in it. May have to check that out!

This system is now known as the ULYN system. :D

Well Starsky and Hutch combined driving and Light gun!
It would be hard for a FPS light gun game because you'd have the issue of being able to look-around and moving with a single d-pad on the side of the gun. If you had more than one type of movement control... well lets just say moving, looking around, AND firing a light gun at moving targets wouldn't be the easiest thing in the world. Though it would test your skills as a gamer...

Your answer lies with Dino Stalker on PS2, though it may not be the answer you were hoping to find.

I would rather see a FPS/RTS where you could push a button to pull up a map and you could use the map to give orders to troops.

Battlezone on the PC, released back in 1998, was a blend of FPS and RTS. From the Gamespot review:
what really makes Battlezone so special is the way it blends the adrenaline rush of first-person action games with the strategy and resource management of Red Alert (or one of its imitators)....This might be the most perfect blend of two gaming genres since... well, I don't know when.
I'm not sure if it had a map interface like you mentioned, but it's worth checking out.

I'll have to keep my eye out for that game.
Just think if Halo 3 was a FPS/RTS where you got to order hundreds of marines around the map. Say you were attacking a Covenant
base and you ordered a few groups of marines to attack from one side, and they got pinned down by Ghosts, so you could then order Warthogs to assist taking out the Ghosts. If you play your cards right you could kill most of the Covenant guarding the base. If you don’t, then Master Chief would have a lot of enemies to kill.
Of course I suppose that the AI could control all of that for people who don't want to control all of those units and just want to play a FPS. I

There's stuff like this in GTA:SA. People will compliment you on your clothes or looks if they like them, or make fun of you if they hate them. You can respond positively or negatively.

The game Savage combines RTS, FPS, 3rd person combat, and the ability to switch between all modes of play. So at one point in time you could be commanding other players to go kill something, and the next you could be at the front line with all those troops you just ordered to go kill stuff.
