I didn't see these crazy deals, but I did see that Halo was now at a low $19.99. That's pretty good, but that same Wal-Mart had Halo priced at $13 last December. Needless to say, I snagged a copy as soon as I saw it then.

Best Buy (at least mine) has had Halo for 2 weeks @ 19.99...

The tag still says 29.99, but it rings up 19.99

My local Wal-Mart still has Project Gotham 2 for $50. They never have good deals on games. The only cheap deals that they have is on accessories.

I went yesterday and they had nothing.

I saw madden like 2001 or something for n64 9.50 and tony hawk 3 I think for 9.50 also.

Wish I lived closer to Salinas. Checked around this morning in two sacramento area wal-marts. No dice. everything was msrp basically. also the clearance bin had nothing but mostly 2002 or older sports games that were only marked down to 15. Waste of gas, but at least I picked up a DVD to make up for the drive.

Wow, I would even definately pay double for some of those good Xbox games. $3.50 for Amped 2 is a steal!

Would check it out if I had a local Wal-Mart, nearest one is like 8 miles. :(

I checked this out too, I'm guessing it's just the one store. They had some of those games but they were all marked at $19.92. Somoene might want to check to see if they ring up for less and are just marked wrong, but I doubt it. They only had an old James Bond game marked with a red tag at $16, still not a really great deal.
On a side note if anyone finds worms 3d for $10 and RE 0 for $7 I'd be mighty interested.

i consider 8 miles local. i have a walmart 8 miles in either direction of me. then two 30 minutes away. and i'm sure there is one in this other area that i never visit.

i'm gonna check my walmart tonight and see what's up. though, there are no CAGs in my area, so i can't really help you too much. it's nice to be the only CAG in my general area, though there isn't much to find.
Just hit the local Wally World...apparently its a store thing not a corporate thing....talked to the electronics dept manager and he said that ocassionally they will clear out games that dont sell well...he recommeneded that i come back at the end of July or early August since that is when they will do there inventory and will probably clear out games again...

They did have a ton of strategy guides on clearance to 2 bucks each but were talkn about Medal of Honor Frontline and DMC 2...old stuff
about 2 years ago around that time my local Wal-Mart had a ton of games for cheap so he is correct and not pulling your chain.
I don't think there is such a thing as a dumb dept. manager or the likes. I mean, even a child who has even touched a TI-85 knows it costs more than $5. Consumer products come and go, and some pay full price, some pay cleareanced price (I am not a breath of fire fan, and I didn't care a penny about BoF V until it was $7 at CC). Elastic and inelastic demand, coupled with supply and demand. Ever wonder why CC never publicly announces $5-10 games or even tag it? Why they lower a game to $7-10 bucks, but then right when word gets around the nation, everyone starts buying it up, they raise it right away to $12-15, in which the latecomers will still say "Hey, it's better than paying $20 for it! I'll take it!" Elastic/Inelastic demand. It's actually the opposite of being dumb, lazy, or unorganized. Remember, when you have a small consumer base to deal with (CAGers :p) you are more flexible in changing prices on a day-to-day basis.

Anyway, I'm in Minnesota and I'm going to go check out the new wal-mart on University ave. It's freaking huge! ANd it doesn't even have the "Super" on the logo. If it's not here, chances are, it hasn't hit midwest yet. Be back to report.
tell me about ur report because I was about to check the maple grove 1 but I'll wait to hear ur news.

I've got more chance of having martians land on my head tomorrow than I have of going to WalMart and finding any of those games for anything approaching those prices. Good luck to anyone that does, but they'll all be the same crappy prices as usual here.

I went back today and it was all wiped out. I took my tons of receipts to the front for price corrections on the games I already bought. They gave me 23 bucks back because some of my games got marked down more before they were totally liquidated. I think Metroid got knocked down to like a buck because all of the games had to be out today I guess. I got half my money back for Kirby Air Ride so that only cost me 8 bucks. Wal Mart Clearance rocks

However, I do know that the Home Office isn't letting -anyone- clearance anything out at the moment without their authorization, and beyond that, I've been told (at least at our store) that we're not allowed to clearance Video games.
Guess that explains why everytime I walk in there there is an ever growing $19.82 videogame rack. It's going to take up the whole electronics section pretty soon. The Walmart's near me ALL need to clearance their videogames. A lot of those games will not sell at $20.
Tell me about it. I hate seeing Fantavision (PS2 Launch Title) at $30. Plus there's the couple of GB-Color- games at $20-30.

On the flip side, some of the GH games and a few others are down to $17.88, Vice City included. SSX3 is down to $19.82 now, too. I'm just hoping we get a shipment of Soulcalibur 2 in when it finally goes GH so I can buy it.

What a ploy this is!

1 wal-mart in the middle of nowhere has a dozen games marked down and hundreds of gamers suddenly rush out to see what walmart has...

It's genius.

this sounds like complete bullshit IMO. I dunno this guy who doesnt have many posts bringing all these crazy prices to us so we rush to wallmart. I wonder, do you work for them. I agree with Defender

this sounds like when my kmart was closing down a year or so ago...though the prices still weren 't this cheap...im calling bullshit on this one...and i saw the pics, i dont care...send some of those games to me and then ill believe you

The clearence games (JSRF and a couple others) at mine were all marked at $35. Funny how the clearence prices at Walmart are higher than the normal prices at most game stores.

Absolute sheer genious! Almost like a certain 10 minute deal at a well-known website that increases traffic to their site like none other...

***EDIT: well-known website= EB Games and the MMNT, 1080 Avalanche, and Wario World crazy 10 minute sales.***

I am not sure what you are implying but I am pretty sure that the cost of visiting my site for 5 minutes or less is a lot less hassle and expense that taking the time to drive over to a Walmart and spending money on gas.

I can't recall ever posting a deal that was only good for 10 minutes. What would be the point. Every single deal I post or create is something I try to have enough to sell to everyone. Bait and switch not only doesnt work well on the web but it jeapardizes customer relations.

anyways...seems like this deal is dead and may have never been a deal to begin with...if OP got those deals then great but its not anything that seems to be walmart wide

Whoa, Defender. You're cool, you're cool. I was referring to EB Games and their MMTN, 1080 Avalanche, and Wario World sale. Your site is a great market for videogames, and your prices are right down there with, if not better, than any other gaming site out there. I especially appreciate the deals that you post here on CAG for us. Please do not take offense to my post; it was directed at EB... I will edit it as so.

Over and out,
Jeff

All walmarts are locally controlled (as in walmart corporate doesn't hold any power in managing the store). Basically, all that corporate does is link the stores with their distribution network and price breaks. Once the merchandise hits the floor it's up to the store/department managers to decide mark downs.

There is no bullshit involved, it's simply independent markdowns from an aggressive set of management (maybe to boost department sales figures?). This may or not be related to shelf space and sales.

My local Walmart had 2 Xbox controller S's, a few madcatz starter kits (for ps2 xb and gc) and some sony controllers. All on "clearance" TWO WHOLE DOLLARS OFF! (from 19.99 to 17.49 LOL)

They did have a couple Music Mixers (xb) clearanced for $12.00.

Sorta sad actually. This is a small town walmart; they have games that are years old that still ring at 20+ but i check every once in a while.

I really don't look towards WalMart as my place for game buying... the prices just aren't appealing enough for me...

this is extreme YMMV! I've been to 4 area Wal-Marts and nothing even remotely close to those deals shown. Great find if they are actually legit!
