Sword of Mana GBA any good?
is this one worth getting? I can buy it for like 16 bucks, so what do you think?
I just picked it up for $20 new with GR credit yesterday. My friend tells me good things about it, and it looks like a Mana title, so I'm sure I'll be happy with it.

It does bring back the feeling of joy and happiness I got the many many times I played through Final Fantasy Adventure... they made the remake too large for it's own good, I think.

Bored me bigtime. There's just something not satisfying at all about the combat, you don't feel like you're really connecting with the enemies. Really mediocre to me.

Just my opinion.

I wish I would have read your thread about the game before I bought it last Saturday. I started playing it on Sunday and have many of the same complaints. I'm trying to decide if I want to actually finish it or just put it back on my shelf for now.

I enjoyed most of the game but I think it's pretty sad that I beat the hell out of Final Fantasy Adventure so many years ago in a little over 10 hours while I spent around 25 hours on Sword of Mana and I'm barely halfway through the game, and I'm still only around 2/3 of the way through.

I think what really pisses me off are all of the Quests, though. Dear lord. Maybe if it wasn't for Beyond of the Beyond kicking me in the pair many years ago with its brilliant concept of "we'll tell you what to do in a vague way only once, then it's up to you to figure out what to do!" gameplay I would be able to tolerate it, but far too many years have gone by where developers think that vague hints and grandiose Quests that impede your progress are good ideas.

The lack of multiplayer, though...ouch. Shame. Personally, I'd simply lose it if someone would just port Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3 over to the DS with multiplayer Wi-Fi options. No other upgrades needed. I'd even pay $35 a pop for them, savings be damned.

It depends how much you spent on it, I suppose. It's a no brainer to stop playing that ungainly beast if you spent less than $10 on it. Any more than that and I guess I'd say you should play it until you feel you got your money's worth.

It was worth the $5 I paid for it back during the original Circuit City clearance.

Unfortunately I paid $20 for it. Mainly because I've been looking for it locally for a while and couldn't find it. It was more of an impulse buy since I've never seen it around here. I'll end up playing it to the end at some point, but I'm about half-way through Zelda: Link to the Past, so I'd rather play that at this point. I don't think it's a horrible game, just not as great as I expected after reading some of the reviews out there for it.

All other games will probably be set to the side once I get Final Fantasy IV, so it's probably not the best time to start playing Sword of Mana anyway.

Well, Children of Mana is fast approaching (hopefully to be released here as well). If they put WiFi in that one... oh yes.

It's not that good for the $10 I paid for it. I'm pretty much lost at about an hour in with no signs anywhere of where to go, which pretty much ruins the game for me.

I feel the same way, the battling controls are not good. I was expecting fighting styles like Zelda but this felt kind of akward. I stopped playing after about 2hrs.

Bought it last year for $10 and I felt it was mediocre at best. I only played for about 4 hours but the game just wasn't doing it for me. Hope this helps.

I bought this when it came out because it was a SD game, and portable at that.

Dull story. Painful character names. Overtly complex ring-system that still takes you into menues more often than not, not to mention switching elementals could be a pain. The Ring system actually detracted from the action of this game instead of making it flow better like it should have. Having 3 different weapon traits on top of elementals was a pain to get through the game with.

And despite all that, the game was still painfully easy. Then again, Brownie Brown made Sword of Mana, so I shouldn't have expected anything great.

Thank gods they don't have their grimey hands on Children of Mana.
