Tanga.com - Game Informer Subscription - 1 Year $5.88

uhh, this is great and all, but spending $9 more to get the EDGE subscription will definitely pay for itself over time anyway..unless you're one who absolutely despises GameStop..

I also noticed that GS now offers either the standard mail-out GI OR an online E-zine you can choose from when you renew or sign up (doesn't look like you can choose both). Hard to read e-zine's in the bathroom though..so I'll stick w/ print. However, I fear that one day print issues might stop b/c of this development..

I would definitely agree with this perspective. As I get nearly all my games from trades and Goozex, I rarely give GameStop my money, but hey, different strokes for different folks! I just likey the magazines. :D

I second this.

Yeah, need the print copy for the same reason and it doubles as cleaning material when an article isn't worth anything other than to wipe my a$$...... hard to clean with a 15" screen..... LOL :p

$5.88 for the mag without the EDGE card isn't a bad deal at all, since the best you can normally do is $24 for 24 months directly through GI.

Print has been on its way to failing for years because of the internet... one day it will presumably will.

hmm, I never knew about this, always back in the day when I worked there, we always touted it as a year, even the past couple years, they still gave the "year long subscription" spiel..now if its 10 months due to a publication schedule, like 2 months may be in one issue (like Sound and Vision does) then I can understand that..my renewal is always up in Feb. I get my last issue in Jan. with the big "time to renew" sticker..usually always miss Feb.s issue, but usually can pick it up at the store if I ask nicely..so I guess my point is, I can't confirm this either way

I got the Edge card from Gamestop in April 09 and was told it only lasts 6 months which it did. A friend of mine also got it a month or two ago and again, 6 months. Maybe it's a regional thing Game Informers otheres are getting it 10-12 months from the edge card?

I jumped on this because I remember gameinformer as being a pretty cool magazine although it's been a while since I subscribed. I mean .50 cents an issue is a deal even if you just want to clip art out of them. Thanks OP.

Thanks OP. I was rippin on it in the decline of GI thread, but for 50 cents an issue, it's at least good bathroom reading.

Yeah, too bad you can't stack this ontop of your previous sub and get the extension for the EDGE card, as well...

Damn, it's showing as $14.99 now. I would have liked to get in on this, as my current sub is about to run out and I've been debating whether to renew.

It was a pretty decent magazine until they just changed formats since last issue. I opened up my last issue and the magazine was terrible. It is almost unreadable now. I liked the old format, but with this new format, I will let my subscription die and won't be touching GI again.

I STILL have not received a single issue of GI in the mail after signing up for Edge last November. I've called GS, called GI and have got them to update my address on file (apparantly, when I first signed up in GS B&M, they got my address wrong). Kind of given up on getting GI in the mail. I can't keep calling them up every month, can I?

I updated the OP to show that the price does show $14.99 at first, but once you add to cart and enter coupon code 'games', the price will change to $5.88.

I would call em every damn month and tell them they owe you back copies or to extend your membership. You paid for a year and due to their own blunders you have yet to get a single issue in 6 months. It's your money don't let them just take it from you. What's the worst they can do? Stop sending you iss----oh wait they already are.

Did you mention the code when you first posted? It sounds familiar, like I read it, then completely forgot to enter the code when I saw the $14.99 at the link. #-o

Either way, thanks for the heads up. Signed up for a year.

I didn't make mention that the price would show $14.99 first. I just said to go to the link and enter the code 'games' for the deal. But I can see how it would be immediately put-offy to go to the site and just see the $14.99 pricepoint.

Glad you got in on the deal.

I don't despise Gamestop but it's extremely rare that I buy games used and I have NEVER traded anything in anywhere.

I paid $5 for a subscription not too long ago and I'm liking it so far.

Is there a way to make sure it re-news instead of doubles?

Thanks OP. Decided to extend my sub for a year.

Hoping it goes smoother this time, because I renewed with GS's Edge card combo last year and also encountered a problem. They started sending me two separate subscriptions, so instead of my renewal extending my current sub, half of it was going to be wasted on duplicates. Luckily after a couple of emails to GI they finally corrected the problem though.

I guess I'm to late. deal seems to be dead. Added to cart and it comes up 14.99. No place to add code. You snooze you lose.
