Tank, Helicopter game of the 90's?

I can recall playing a game as a child that my father played. It was, 3d (Not 2D), and you could choose from multiple vehicles like a tank or helicopter or jeep or anything like that. Once you choose, your tank would come from like, an underground base's elevator and you'd battle someone else across pyramids in the desert. I forgot the name of it, but I think it was around '91 or something. Maybe it was 2D, but I doubt it. I think it was also 3rd person. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Kinda sounds like either Jungle Strike or Desert Strike to me. It's been years but seems to me one of them had more than helicopters. They were in an isometric view that looked like 3-D back then.
 
Nope, not it.. You would only control one thing at a time. Not a RTS type game. Thanks though!
 
Do you know the system? What perspective was it in (was it top-down or first person etc.)
